This is the legendary stinky chicken, Mr. Max, who has featured in my signature for the past several years. He is a spoiled child who watches wrestling, game shows, and certain cartoons, dances, wants everything everyone else is eating, and constantly has things to say. I also have two hamsters, Ted and Oliver, and eleven parakeets. Brought home a female 'keet for Oscar after his friend Baby passed away and it all went downhill from there. Now there's Oscar, Bright Eyes, Fat Baby, Crybaby, Sweetie Baby, Ringleader, Bandit, Squishy, Bumble, Green Child, and the Little One. You're the second person I've herd call their bird a chicken. Angel from Canada deserves that title...

My wife and I had a Yorkie that we absolutely loved to no end. She was taken from us when she was just 2 years old due to a dog (that wasn't leashed) attacking her.
A few months after that happened, and with us devastated beyond belief, we went to our local humane society and lucked into finding a pomeranian/chihuahua mixed dog named Meka. She was about 6 years old and unfortunately, she didn't take to us at the shelter right away...but once we were with her for about an hour she lightened up and we had to bring her home.
The breeder that we got our first Yorkie from called us shortly after and said that she heard about what happened and that she had one more in her new litter that she would rather see us take rather than this person who appeared to be a reseller. So we accepted right away and allowed my niece to name her. She went with "Lena" because her favorite Mario character is Rosalina.
So we have two amazing dogs that are with us and their names are pretty close. Needless to say, we won't be naming our little girl that's on the way anything like Tina or Gina.

This is Lucky. A 3-year old Askal (street dog), though the recent term people are using is Aspin (Pinoy/Filipino dog). A silly dog. Just easily scared or startled by all things. Once during a walk a plastic bag blown by the wind grazed him on the side, and he basically just jumped in a panic. Also a crybaby. If I go outside for just a walk, the moment I step out of the house and he realizes that I'm not bringing him along, he just starts wailing to voice his displeasure. Like, when I wake up, and he sees me, and finds that I'm just lounging around... you know, eating breakfast, just waking myself up, he starts making it clear with small whines that its time for a walk. That said, he's a quiet dog for most part. Doesn't really bark unless he wants a walk, or finds that I'm back home, or there's a motorcycle that's parked near the vicinity of the house. He just quietly toddles around the house, being kinda neurotic. Doesn't pay attention to TV, but kinda afraid of a bug zapper that's been in the house since he arrived. Like, just one zap and he runs and hides. Wants headpats all the time. I'd be sitting in the couch, and he'd nuzzle his head on my hand demanding head pats. Maggie is also a huge coward and crybaby. For example if she sees a dog in the yard she barks and growls at them from inside. Months back some friends were visiting and they brought their dog Macho with them. He is 5 years old and about Maggie's size. Macho's dad was play fighting with Maggie. Maggie was barking loudly,So Macho ran over and growled at her. Maggie ran off and hid under the couch until I got on the floor and drug her out. She hates being alone. If I happen to be asleep and the others in the house leave,as soon as the front door is shut Maggie runs to my bedroom door and starts crying. Back before I got her housebroken I would lock her up in the master bathroom when there was no one at the house. One time I had locked her up,went out to my car and realized I forgot my cell. Come back in and I could hear Maggie yodeling in the bathroom. Anyways that is one cute dog ya got there.

I have a 4 year old calico. She hates everyone except me. She hides when people come over. She'll climb over my girlfriend to get to me. She's my shadow. She follows me everywhere. She waits outside the bathroom while I'm in the shower. She waits in the window until I get home. She even curls up on my lap everynight before I go to bed. Then she climbs under try the blanket and sleeps next to me. She's my best friend.

Love these replies. It seems like the most popular FAN pets are dogs, with cats a reasonably close second.

Love these replies. It seems like the most popular FAN pets are dogs, with cats a reasonably close second. I'm a dog walker and grooming assistant. Although I don't have a dog. I build a bond with the ones I work with wherein feels like they are mine. The very first dog I ever worked with suddenly passed last week and I openly wept when I got the news

Here are my two. The black cat is Alfi, and the black and white one is Kodi. Kodi is older (by a year) but we got Alfi first. Both are rescues to an extent, they were separated from their mothers far too soon and bounced around different homes. So they are unique kitties. Alfi very much keeps to himself. He's very much King of the castle. Kodi is a little sweetheart. She's scared of everything but she's also a massive flirt.

Except if I take too long to open the door, his barks kinda go from brave barking noises to a whining bark. Going to the vet also produces another scaredy cat reaction. Like he just knows when its vet time. He climbs into the car, all happy and excited, but soon realizes where we're going and starts to shake like hell. Then once we arrive at the vet I gotta carry him inside cause he doesn't wanna go into the vet office, which is troublesome considering my arthritis, and spends the time waiting for his turn hiding under a chair. But yeah, he's cute. Jokingly I refer to him a rat dog, but he's really cute and friendly. When he was an outdoor dog, he'd let cats from the neighborhood passing by sleep next to him, which I really didn't wanna do thanks to potential for ticks and all that. He just has a face that looks like it'd trust anyone. That said, when he's excited, like about to go for a walk, he goes panting and makes a silly dog face.

Maggie knows when we are going to the vets or the clippers. I got a friend that lives near the vets and she has a tiny dog. So I will bring Maggie over for the dogs to play. ANd once we get off the highway until we turn on the road my friend lives on Maggie thinks we are going to the Vets and she is shaking and whining. Then I turn onto the road the friend lives on and Maggie is ok again. Currently she is at the front window barking at the mail lady.

My cat likes the vet. She always sits perfectly still and lets the vet do what she needs to do. Then as soon as the procedure is done. She jumps in my arms and wants to go look at the other animals. But only look. She doesn't like it when they get to close. She'll hide her face in my arm if any of them acknowledge her. Same with when I have to clip her nails and trim her feet. She'll stay still with all four paws in the air until I'm done. But even after I'm done she'll stay in that position for a few minutes with a bewildered look in her face.

We have a dwarf hamster named Pete. The guy at our local pet store gave him to my son for free when he heard that the three hamsters we had before had all died within the span of one month. (One from a tumor, one from old age, and one who got sick and died in 48 hours)
We have two chinchillas named Kit and Joey. They are ornery little creatures who know they are the softest things in the world but they won’t let you pet them at all.
We have a Solcada Tortoise named Augie. He is over a foot long and weighs a good twenty pounds. He lives in the back yard and tromps around eating anything he can reach in the garden. When I mow the lawn he chases me around until I stop and then he challenges the mower to a fight and shoves it across the yard.
The two California Desert Tortoises we have are named Flash and Nipper. They are small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. They live in a big tank on the back porch and we let them run loose in the backyard when we can watch them

Even when my cat has to get her temperature checked, she just lets out a slight meow and makes direct eye contact with me. Lol

Maggie ,since I got her, loves to get in someone's lap, then climb up them and run around their shoulders.
First time I took her to the vet she did that to him and he started laughing.

I’ve a 14 year old border collie called Oscar, who I’ve had since he was a pup. He’s my pride and joy, my faithful companion and while he’s slowed down in the last year or so and is nearer the end than the beginning, I wouldn’t change him for anything.
I love that dog more than some of my human friends.

Do wild animals count? Because we have also befriended the creatures that visit our yard.
On any given day we can have up to 7 squirrels in the yard. Twitch is the boy that my son found orphaned on the sidewalk and we raised and released. He still eats from our hand and lets us pet him. Stubby and Momma will take peanuts from our hand but run if we reach to pet them. Ratty-tail and Spot will come into the yard if we call them but stop ten feet away and sit up and beg until we rhrow them a peanut. Jumpy will jump straight up in the air and bolt for the back wall the instant he sees us. All together they go through about 25 lbs of peanuts and 20 lbs of sunflower seeds a month
Our hummingbird population is growing. After Peeps showed up my wife put out a feeder that he guards like Fort Knox. A second feeder brought out Red and Greenie who might be a mated pair. If the feeder gets low, Greenie will hover outside the kitchen window and peep at us til we come and refill it. The hibiscus bush is guarded by Perch, who flies around our heads when we do yard work and talks to us. Sniper sits on the phone line, races in to grab a bite, and then races back to his wire.
There are three blue jays who all respond to Blue. They prefer their peanuts to be thrown loose in the yard and will squawk at us when they need more.
Fatso is the fattest mouse we have ever seen. We think he lives under the rosemary bush and eats any peanuts the squirrels miss.
Cooper is the Cooper’s hawk who chases everybody off occasionally. The only thing he catches seems to be pigeons but that is fine with us.
There was a possum mother with a baby that came around for a while and we were feeding. After about a month they disappeared. We hope the baby comes back to us.

This thread is going to make me cry so hard.
Okay, so we have a LOT of animals.
We have a rescue dog. Super anxious. Can't be left alone for long. Is often the biggest pain in my ass in day-to-day life. I'm not really a dog person. But I treasure my friendship with him, and I love him very much.
We also have eight cats. All of them are black. And yes I can tell all of them apart, and they all have distinct personalities - each of those in my household is more bonded with some of them than others.

My adopted cats, Cinnamon the fat tabby, and Toffee the calico. They don't care for me, but they're best friends and spent most of their time in a pile. I also volunteer with an animal rescue, and part of that is fostering cats. These are my current two fosters, Callie (on her side) and Mimi (white floofy belly). I'll have these two for however long it takes to find them a home. So far it's been three months, they're fine with me but so incredibly shy and timid around strangers that they have trouble going to any adoption events, so I might have them for a while.

We adopted a 4 month old cat last week for my fiance's birthday. The first two days he was super loving and affectionate to both of us, but now he only is with her. He doesn't give a shit about me and even hides when she leaves. I'm actually pretty bummed about it. Sucks.
