While some plots leak months in advance, often they go unnoticed because they're either on sites known just as much for misinformation (4chan and reddit) or it's way too early to be concerned about the movie in question. Sometimes it might not even be a 'game changing' or 'internet breaking' plot and so there's not much general interest.

I saw the trailer and it just made me kind of sad for Keanu Reeves. Like, it was cute for him to play a middle aged Ted in a charming movie, but his career is doing well enough that he shouldn't have to make a new Matrix movie.

Pretty sure he lives a pretty manageable lifestyle and could walk away whenever if he wanted to.

The guy is famous for giving away huge amounts of money to crew members just because. I don't think he "has to" make a new Matrix at all. Either he actually believes in the project or he's doing a solid for the other actors/director.

Something kind of standing out to me is just how... pointless this feels? Typically with a 20 years later sequel to a movie that underperformed like Revolutions did you'd think there'd be some kind of crazy new idea or something behind it, at least some kind of twist on the formula or reason this story's happening now, but it kind of just feels like they're doing exactly what you'd expect out of a half-assed attempt to cash in on a recognizable IP.
I guess there could all be some kind of meta commentary going on with it, but the Wachowskis have a shaky at best track record so even if that is the intent I don't really have a lot of faith that it'll pan out well.

In reality it's just borrowing tricks from EVA Rebuild and some of the MGS games. Sequels that are meta and are really just personal pieces/therapy for the creatives involved.

Honestly, the reactions being as conflicted and divisive as they seem excites me more than if they were all positive.
