#14 - Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt
WrestleMania 33 - 11 points
This'll be an interesting experience for me because I was in attendance for this match, but I've never actually seen it as it aired on the Network. From my place in the crowd I mostly just found the match underwhelming with the bugs thing just kind of stupidly not factoring into anything but let's see how it played out for those watching at home, eh?
Bray's old theme already sounds so incredibly midcard to me.
Why is Bray out first anyway? He's pretty much the kind of character designed to come out last like the Undertaker, plus he's the champion.
It's funny that the ONE time the commentary is actually quiet for Bray coming out it's when it takes him about 30 years to get to the ring due to the giant ramp so it just comes off awkward.
You forget just how amazing that snake is until you see it again.
Wait, why is the commentary also being silent for Orton?
Okay, I didn't realize just how long that stupid snake was onscreen for. This is just getting progressively more hilarious.
I really wish they would stop trying to say Bob Orton main-evented WrestleMania. By that logic Curt Hawkins main-evented WrestleMania.
In a lifetime of bad haircutts this might be Bray's worst. It's so poofy.
I didn't realize just how early into this match the bug stuff happened. Even knowing it was coming it completely blindsided me.
... The f*** did that even accomplish? Randy just ducked out of the ring and grimaced. Bray didn't benefit from that at all.
I'm starting to see why this got on the list because beyond the bug stuff just giving it that extra dose of stupid this is also just really freaking boring.
Even the commentators sound completely disinterested.
"This place is in shock. 70,000 people here have no idea what to make of this." Or they're just really, really bored.
How is this match this dull? It's a match that barely cracks ten minutes, has the bug stuff, and has multiple finishers, but it just feels nothing nothing is happening. Maybe since the bug stuff is completely useless because Orton doesn't sell it for a second.
But good thing they didn't include Luke Harper in this match, huh? That might've given it a pulse. Or at least been an excuse to also do eyeballs on the mat, that might've been fun.
You can see the bugs all over Orton and that's the highlight of the match.
And then just RKO out of nowhere to end it as anticlimactically as possible.
Yeah, I completely see why that made the list, that match was stupid as hell and also felt like four times longer than it actually was. Oh well, at least Randy had a great run that transitioned the title to someone who really deserved it, right?
And coming up next is my personal vote for the worst WrestleMania match. . . which wouldn't have cracked 10 points if I hadn't voted it so highly and thus I wouldn't have to watch it again. Hooray. . .
#13 - Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar
WrestleMania 34 - 12 points
I hope to f***ing God WWE doesn't take the fact someone's searched for this match specifically on the Network to mean that anyone actually wants to watch it again.
Hi, Roman! We'll be seeing you again soon!
Highlight of the match - the, "I DON'T LIKE TIMES NEW ROMAN," sign at ringside.
Okay, I'm not sitting through Heyman's one promo, let's fast forward to bell time. At least that'll shave about 30 minutes off this match.
At least this time watching it I haven't just sat through about 48 hours of wrestling straight beforehand. Even if Orton / Wyatt did feel like it.
Oh no, "Roman Reigns sits down to pee," that's the highlight.
Ah, yeah, there are the CM Punk chants. Give it up, 2018 guys, you'll never see him on WWE programming again!
If only someone had smartened Roman up before this match maybe he wouldn't have taken 800,000 suplexes.
Honestly I'll grant that as bad as this is, it isn't as bad not being completely exhausted during it.
This really is the exact same match as the Mania 31 one, just completely incompetent. Partially because it doesn't have the same novelty or a crowd willing to play along, partially because there Roman getting his ass kicked while wearing Brock down was kind of a deliberate plan on his part judging by all the smirking while here he's just incompetent.
. . . Why did Cole's voice go all legion when Roman speared Brock onto the table?
The 2018 part of my brain is going, "God, sell a damn finisher!" while the 2019 part of my brain is going, "Well, it's better than the Fiend."
Remember how they spent all year long building up the F5 as an unstoppable super move just for Roman to kick out of like 80 of them in this match while no one cares? Wasn't that worth it?
I could be rewatching Ciampa / Gargano and the North American title ladder match right now. This could be a best Takeover matches survey. ... I'm gonna hold onto that thought.
The most entertaining part of this match is how clearly pissed Brock is with it.
What even actually is the story of this match supposed to be? All of the build of it seems like it's about building up Roman's heart and resiliency but I'm watching this with the foreknowledge that at the end he just Kofis himself into losing like an idiot.
On one hand this is better than it was because I'm not watching it at the end of a 7 hour session after Nakamura / AJ already bored me to death. On the other hand this is worse because I know from this year's SummerSlam that Brock is still capable of having matches that are actually matches.
Oh, and now where they had Roman intentionally get stiffed to bleeding because SHOOTZ.
Yeah, I didn't appreciate it at the time but it's genuinely disgusting how badly Roman is bleeding here. And nobody even cares.
And it's over. Yep.
I really, really hope the next match is neither a main event everyone hates nor another boring ass Randy Orton WWE title match. But...
