I remember seeing the trailer and it looked largely mediocre.
I was surprised to learn that it came out already. Anyone see it yet?

I saw it. Maybe I am just too easy to please, but I actually enjoyed this film. What's weird is that the following day, I did a double-feature of the 2000s films. I will note that this film had its own little spin in the story. At the beginning, only two of the girls are actual Angels while the third girl had more of a role in the overall plot and was more or less a recruit. It was also a continuation of the franchise overall, as the TV show and 2000s films were mentioned. Though this part kind of made me laugh and annoyed me at the same time: {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Being that there were agencies across the world, it seemed that Patrick Stewart played the main Bosley and during a sequence, he was photoshopped into pictures with the TV show cast, as well as the 2000s film cast. That was the main gripe I had. Other than that, I liked how Kristen Stewart played her character. She was kind of an odd girl type, while the other girl played by Ella Balinska was the more badass girl. I personally enjoyed it, despite some issues. For example, some of the edits in the action scenes, but still, I had fun with it.

I saw it earlier tonight. It was light and fun, but nothing amazing.

Honestly, I wouldn't even know this movie existed if ToddintheShadows hadn't done a review on the theme song a few weeks ago.

Diaz, Liu and Barrymore will always be Charlie’s Angels to me. Those movies are still guilty treats of mine: the soundtrack, the matrix inspired silly fighting, the tongue in cheek sexuality. And the surrounding ensemble like Shia, Matt LeBlanc, Sam Rockwell, Bernie Mac, and Bill Murray were great too.

Diaz, Liu and Barrymore will always be Charlie’s Angels to me. Yup, I enjoyed those ones...but the new one bombed because Elizabeth Banks wants to blame the fact that men don’t go to see women led action flicks. Bull. f***ing. Shit. I’ve bought tickets to plenty of women led action flicks...I just had no interest in this. I had no interest in the Ghostbusters reboot. Totally went to Tomb Raider and Captain Marvel though.

I never even saw a commercial or ad for it.
What I heard, there's maybe 50 seconds of action in it.

From what little I’ve heard this movie apparently was very anti-men in its message? So, like what the hell was Banks even expecting? If dudes even knew this film existed(I legit didn’t even know it had finished filming. Last I heard of it they were still filming and that was deadass earlier this year, I thought this was a 2020 release), and they saw this movie with that kind of message, it would absolutely tank the word of mouth reception for the film, so either way it was going to bomb.
Also, maybe next time don’t freaking release a Charlie’s Angels movie in god damn November! November is one of the worst damn times to release a mid-tier budget action(or I guess “action”?) movie.

I watched the two 2000's movies for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I was surprised at how fun they were. For some reason I was always under the impression that they had taken themselves far too seriously and would be more in tone to something like The Matrix. Do not know where I got that idea from.
I saw the trailer for the new movie awhile back. The only thing I found interesting in it was that Patrick Stewart looked like he was having an absolute ball in every shot he was in. Otherwise it didn't look too appealing.

That movie came out?
Maybe blame your studio for lack of advertising or marketing.

I never even saw a commercial or ad for it. What I heard, there's maybe 50 seconds of action in it. That's inaccurate. I didn't have a stopwatch handy, but there's plenty of chases, gunplay, fistfights, and at least one explosion. No vampires, though.

That’s too bad, I like Elizabeth Banks. Wish she hadn’t taken the “if you don’t pay to see my movie, you hate women” stance. It’s not a good look for anyone.
Sad part is, I’m not even hyperbolising. That’s damn near verbatim

The point of lack of marketable star power is a pretty good one.
Like a film doesn’t need stars to be a financial success(see Get Out for an example), but if it doesn’t have actors they can market, it needs to be really damn good to put asses in seats.
Let’s compare Charlie’s Angels with another mid-tier budget film releasing this month, Knives Out. I don’t know if this movie will do well either, but I at least know it exists thanks to its quite frankly jaw dropping cast list that I am stunned they were able to manage to wrangle together and make a film with only a $40 million budget.

That’s damn near verbatim Agreed. I like her, but someone needs to tell her to shut up. Playing the sexism card in the wake of Captian Marvel and Wonder Women, while going as far as taking jabs at those movies because they were more successful is a horrid look.
