Could it be the WWE style of working is what makes KO vs. AJ not as exciting?

Could it be the WWE style of working is what makes KO vs. AJ not as exciting? I can't imagine it helps matters, though I also sort of get the feeling that they just don't have complimentary styles.

Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose was the yuckiest one that popped first in my mind, in present day...

They've both had bangers with Roman (not discounting him, he's an excellent worker/brawler), so it's not WWE style that's caused them to be off.

WALTER and Ishii. I was hyped for this match but it never kicked into third gear or second gear. It mightve been due to injuries

Bret Hart and Sting.
Jericho and CM Punk.
Matt and Jeff Hardy when put against each other.
Kota Ibushi and KENTA. Their match at Destruction this year flat out stunk.

Their match at Royal Quest was on its way to being really good until KENTA got his bell rung. Part of it is he's not going all out on the "road to" shows and world tag league. Probably not a bad idea with his style.

On the women side of things:
The only Horsewomen combination that doesn't have a great match on record
Bayley and Becky
IMO, both need that extra edge Charlotte and Sasha bring to the ring.

Every Charlotte vs. Natalya match has bored the shit out of me, though to be fair I'm talking main roster as I haven't seen any of their NXT matches. Natalya isn’t as good as she’s given credit for having.🤷🏾♂️

HBK and Perfect. Awful match. Not Perfect’s fault he had to try and carry average talent.

Could it be the WWE style of working is what makes KO vs. AJ not as exciting? I've seen them on the indys, the high point of the match was Owens refusing to use a fan's prosthetic leg as a weapon to turn the crowd against him. They, for some reason, don't click.
