On the one hand, it might be safer to do that not because he'll hurt someone but because someone might take stuff the wrong way and Maxwell isn't the sort of guy character wise to take it lying down.
On the other hand, in kayfabe wise, it's a way for MJF to feel silenced by Cody since he's an EVP so he's abusing his power, which can be used in promos.
I don't know if I'd have gone that extreme but if it can be used for story, all the better.

I mean, not too surprising. Betting it's the kind of thing he could milk for promos, but yeah, MJF is seemingly virtually always on, and that seems... risky. Like, I can almost picture that had he been in WWE, he'd have done something like tweet Roman to ask if he could have his stuff if the leukemia battle went south. That wouldn't really be that out of the realm of possibility.

Considering he's already unintentionally gotten the anger of non-wrestling fans, maybe this is a good idea. It can easily become a very difficult and hard to control situation when it involves people who are unaware it's a work. Wrestling fans who get mad can just tune in to see him get his comeuppance in the ring. Non-wrestling fans would want him out of the company or more.

I don’t know if this is the exact reason but if you read his Twitter he’s been shitting on D and D fans and now Star Wars fans a few days ago, and doubling down on shitting on it.

Since he insists on being "on" 24/7, it's still possible he eventually loses the benefit of the doubt that he doesn't mean a word of what he says.

Yeh the 100% In character is a good but dangerous road to walk.It won't excuse you of bad behaviour in certain settings. It is good when interacting with fans or people that want to be in the joke.

There's literally no difference between a guy who is an asshole and a guy who is an asshole in character 24/7.

The secret to longevity in wrestling is constantly evolving into something else. The asshole thing is working for him now, but eventually he will have to turn babyface. I can only imagine what that will be and how that character will manifest publicly.

Especially if he sticks with the "gimmick" so long that that's just who he basically _is_ at that point, since he'll have spent no time acting otherwise.

I doubt he is out there trying to work the boys because then that will be the instance people turn their back on him but thus far he is working a middle ground Having to have your media limited is a bit dumb tho if he wants to keep advancing himself. At some point the guard has to come down if you want to represent the company outside the wrestling ring

Considering that non-wrestling fans thought his viral DND post was him being serious I can see this as a good move for the moment lol

The D&D community including many prominent personalities and celebrities, worked themselves into a shoot after his "I don't play D&D" selfie post. This isn't surprising.

There's literally no difference between a guy who is an asshole and a guy who is an asshole in character 24/7. But he's not in characters 24/7 and I haven't really seen any indication he is. Playing the pro wrestling bad guy in an interview is just how you further the character. Playing the pro wrestling bad guy a convention or whatever becomes part of the MJF experience and it's something the fans who interact with him look forward to. The risk here isn't that MJF treats everyone like this all the time, it's that people outside of wrestling might not be able to tell it's a character and that it can cause an issue. This isn't like Cornette who insists it's not a character, lashes out at strangers, and whose 'out of character' moments are still shitty and slimy too. As long as MJF seems like he is just playing the character and especially in being a cartoonish wrestling heel figure, I don't think that's really what his issue is. There's an acknowledgment that it's a character. THat creates a difference. Edit: And fittingly here's a brief moment of him out of character where he says that 'behind the bullshit mask' of confidence he's a 'neurotic, anxiety-ridden Jewish kid'.
