Russo is weird. I listen to his shows and I can certainly see why he is polarizing. At the same time, I think that he brings something to the table that is often overlooked: the view of the casual fan.

I've said this before about Russo; his views about certain topics in wrestling are not entirely off base, and he is capable of coherent points about why certain things don't work.
His ideas and solutions to fix them are awful 90% of the time, but he can make decent arguments on occasion.

When Russo is not trying to play a bit and is 100% himself, he can make legit and coherent points. There are times I can see what he was going for, even if I completely disagree

I think the problem with Russo is that he’s probably great at understanding the casual fan...of 1998. The casual fan of 2019, though? It’s less of a tangible thing because there’s so many major differences, especially in the media that’s super popular.
I’m not going to call the MCU the peak of narrative story telling but the reason Infinity War and Endgame were effective was because the characters in it had roles to play and throughout the other movies were established enough for viewers to care what happened to them.
There’s nothing like that in WWE anymore except for a select few and even those select few feel like tropes rather than real, tangible people. Hell, there’s a reason people in Ireland are so passionate about Jordan Devlin when his NXT UK self doesn’t have that. It’s an unfair comparison for various reasons but it’s a reason why he can draw 2,000 people to a stadium at least twice a year.

I listen to his some of his podcasts and he is great at identifying the problem. When he does that, I find myself thinking, "Why is this dude blackballed from wrestling again?" However, when he offers up his solution, I think, "Oh, right." Still, at least he can recognize and identify the problem, which is more than the WWE guys seem capable of doing these days.

Yeah, I’ll give him he at least understands the problems that WWE and modern wrestling has. The issue, as he said, is that he has no solutions that understand a modern audience. Or even solutions that don’t involve just scrapping everything and starting again repeatedly.

I love listening Russo 'cause his ideals are always different than the usuals. Great voice too, bro.

I know he's not the first to bring it up but it really is weird why Vince Mcmahon suddenly stopped trusting people to speak for themselves.
Also I've never heard Austin say he ran "Austin 3:16" by anybody before he said it.

Also I've never heard Austin say he ran "Austin 3:16" by anybody before he said it. I'm not calling Vince Russo a liar. But, I do think that he is misremembering. In various interviews over the years, Austin has said that he got back from the hospital after having his lip stitched up and ran into Michael Hayes on his way to the ring and Michael told him that Jake Roberts (who was doing a born again Christian gimmick at the time) had cut a religious promo on him and Austin 3:16 was born out of Austin thinking of a response to that religious promo. However, you have to remember that Austin cut so many promos over the years with Russo's help, so it is very easy to believe that Russo may be conflating. It's easier to believe than the fact that both Mike Graham and Greg Gagne separately take full credit for telling Eric Bischoff to sign Hogan, go to Disney, and start going head to head with Raw. Those are examples of outright lies.

I guess it's not entirely unrealistic he told Russo in passing while milling around backstage rather than asking for approval or advice or whatever but I've heard Austin tell that tale a million times and he's never even mentioned Russo once.
