I wasn't sure what thread to post this so I figured here would work as well as anything.
On Christmas day I moved out of my parents' house for the first time; between that and Brodie's death, last week was very rough for me emotionally (not that I'm comparing the two events). I decided to impulse buy something for myself and ended up getting a Cameo from Serena Deeb. I wasn't sure what to request so I basically just explained my current situation; this made me feel kinda silly, since I figured "what the hell is a wrestler gonna do with some random fan spilling their guts?" I got the notification that my Cameo was complete, expecting an awkward minute-long "things will get better" spiel that would make me feel embarrassed for wasting her time. Instead she sent a near 6-minute video that made me cry, and also made me feel better than I had in days. She didn't condescend or offer platitudes; her video felt like getting advice from a life-long friend. I was already a fan of hers, but for this I'm basically gonna' be a Serena fanboy for life. Because she went above and beyond for a stranger when she absolutely didn't need to.

Serena's always come off like a sweet person so that's a very wholesome gesture I'm glad Deeb's getting a lot of shine on AEW, even an NWA title run, she's earned it.

Someone replied to a tweet I made back in April which reminded me of something. Remember when Alan Angels kicked out of the V-Trigger and ruined Kenny Omega's career? Dude never recovered from that.

So I was going through the AEW theme songs in Spotify, and I noticed something I didn't initially catch: AEW composed a full, custom theme song for WARHORSE.
It makes me wonder if they had bigger plans for him. It also makes me question why they went to the trouble of giving him his own theme music, but put zero effort into actually explaining who he was and what his deal was.

I think they were relying on the commentators to do that.

Schiavone said he was almost too nice and polite to a fault, keeping mostly to himself and only speaking when spoken to (which sounds almost like death in the social circles of wrestling)

Interesting to note that some people think PNP and or Sammy Guevara deserved bigger pushes this year. But on the bright side? They won Match of the Year for the Stadium Stampede from PWI.
Which also means Jake Hager won a plaque for a 2020 Match of the Year, what a crazy time.

Darby wins TNT title. Defends it in main event of big show. Endorsed by Sting and Cody.
Jr: Darby is going to be a big star.
FFS! He is one of your companies biggest stars! That's such WWE logic.
To be charitable he probably meant to put across he's already this good but is nowhere near his ceiling, imagine what he could accomplish, he could continue to dominate for years to come etc.

I forget if I've said this before, but I like how AEW has a shitload of latino wrestlers. Like, many of whom are in very high profile roles.
Cody and Sammy are both half-Cuban, Lucha Bros are Mexicans as their theme reminds us, and... well, a ton of Puerto Rican ones.
Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz, Diamante (and her brother who has done some work on Dark), Ivelisse, Serpentico and that Jon Cruz guy he hates so much, Danny Limelight, and I feel like I'm missing some more. Not bad at all.
Also, between Hobbs and Top Flight, as well as I guess Jade, it does feel like they're working on the criticisms of having a limited number of prominent black wrestlers. I want them to keep working on that, but it's a start. Private Party, Big Swole, Scorpio, and Nyla (she is black in addition to being Oneida tribe), and Sonny Kiss are obviously nice, along with the crew on Dark like Shawn Dean and Lee Johnson, but additions to that are very welcome.
