This was about the time I stopped watching. After the Invasion and with no other wrestling company to turn to, I just couldn't sit through most of this crap.

It’s weird in my brain I remember this period having so much great wrestling on SD but in reality it was only 10 or 20% tops of the product. So many trashy angles and so much Mcmahon’s drama.Add to that weekly contests where the women take their clothes off and whoever gets the most cheers wins the issue and classics like Bischoff dressing up like Vince Mcmahon and sexually assaulting Stephanie and her liking it.It’s like the fans have PTSD and only remember a few good grappling encounters and black out the 80% of raunchy TV.

I was getting married at the time and there was no way I could show my non-wrestling-fan fiancee that product. It was too embarrassing.

Which is weird because right now there’s more wrestling (that is either almost as or just as good), way less out and out trash, but it’s somehow worse?

It’s weird there’s a ton of trash on these 02/03 smackdown yet its way more entertaining as a whole it feels like its meant to be about having fun and enjoyable for the audience.Where today it feels like its designed in large part to punish you for being a fan and trying to enjoy their product.
