Proposing an angle where Tanahashi eats SCU like Kirby and Daniels gets another year long run as Curry Man.

Let's say a title match does happen. Which promotion does it even take place in? Ultimately, this is a New Japan storyline, but AEW would have to at least recap it, regardless of the winner. Tana doesn't necessarily have to work AEW if he loses the match, but if he wins, he most definitely does.

That would pop a huge rating, I’d think.

So... is this testing the waters for a partnership? Because Jericho is definitely losing now right? Tanahashi on one of the AEW PPVs or Shows is gonna be a major draw

Seems like a good compromise. Jericho loses at Wrestle Kingdom and get his win back on an AEW show.

I'd really rather we just, like... not. I really don't see why Jericho losing in one company needs to be acknowledged at all in a different one, and I really just have no use at all for collaborations.

Anyone who knows who he is and cares is likely already watching AEW anyway.

Kenny Omega seems to be ratings poison and I can't imagine anyone in the west particularly caring who Tanahashi is if they don't care about Kenny Omega.

It’s at least adding a level of interest to a match I had zero care about. I still think they need to go full DDT just to see how many dozen stars Meltz would give Kenny vs Takeshita.

I hadn’t thought that the AEW audience already contained the entirety of the New Japan audience. But maybe I’m wrong on that.

I know that was a trend within the first few weeks, but I'm pretty sure that trend was broken a while ago.

I think there's a lot of NJPW fans that don't watch AEW. If it comes down to pay-per-view, it probably won't make the buyrates surge too much, though.

To each their own, but personally I rather enjoy the fact that companies are willing to work together to help eachother look good rather than poach one another and weaken the market. Not saying it needs to be like an open-door policy where companies are trading ad nauseum for storyline, but broadening the candidates for things like the G1, BoSJ, or King of Trios would be something I'd be more than happy to see multiple companies work together on.

This is what I want/hope for in the next decade. Not just with AEW/NJPW, but throughout the industry.

Probably won't happen now but, I'd love for Tana to win. Imagine how monumental it would be to see maybe the biggest star in the history of Japanese wrestling wrestle for an American world title on American TV. In what world is Tanahasi the biggest star in the history ofJapanese wrestling

In what world is Tanahasi the biggest star in the history ofJapanese wrestling I mean, I wouldn't say greatest but the dude did play a huge part in reviving NJPW to relevancy. Dude's called the ace for a reason. Highly respected and popular wrestler, I could definitely see him attracting more attention if marketed right.
