So I decided to marathon on a few movies for something that I want to do for my hip-hop blog. I will do separate reviews for these movies, as well as for the soundtrack albums for their respective films. But I will also give a brief take on them. I will link the reviews when I post them.
I also must note that I watched these on DVD.
41. Romeo Must Die - It has been a bit since I had watched this. I will tell you that certain things don't hold up. Hell, a lot of the wire-fu was a bit distracting. Although I still like the film. I even remember seeing it in theaters. Also, some of the fights were pretty fun, especially the one with Jet Li and Russell Wong. Aaliyah (RIP) also did a good job in her performance. The movie is still pretty cheesy, but I can still enjoy it.
42. Exit Wounds - Round 2 of the marathon. I have to say that Steven Seagal looked like he was in decent shape for this. He looked like he had lost some weight prior to doing this movie. Maybe not as lean as he was in his earlier films, but slim enough. DMX didn't do so bad with what he had to work with. One thing that got me was that Eva Mendes was dubbed. Tom Arnold and Anthony Anderson provided some decent comic relief. Plus, there were some decent fight scenes and chase scenes. I still enjoy this movie.
I will do Cradle 2 The Grave soon. Like I said before, I will link the actual reviews at some point. I might even watch Half Past Dead while I'm at it. I'm thinking of doing an Exit Wounds vs. Half Past Dead write-up for my movie blog.

This is just... Wow. All you need to see is the intro scene. Some of the worst acting, sound editing, filming and overall quality ever put to tape. And it only gets better...worse? The gore is f***ing insane for 1968. Wow Just, wow. 45. Seeds of Sin (The same DVD) and Wow some more. This movie amped up the sex by fifty and the violence down by about the same. It’s pretty much a blue movie, which I didn’t know they had back in the 1960’s. But the actors faces are mostly obscured because they used body doubles to stand in for the actors. Body doubles that had completely different body types. And in one case hairstyles. In the end it just managed to make sex boring and unbearable. The women are at least attractive, unlike the last movie. Aside from that being the same director it had the same terrible editing, camerawork, acting and everything else as the last movie. This Andy Mulligan fellow is often regarded as one of the worst directors of all time and I’ve never heard of him before today but it’s not hard to see.

6. Mallrats 7. Chasing Amy 8. Dogma 9. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back 10. Clerks II 11. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (again) Intended to watch all his movies before I saw Reboot, didn’t make it, so I picked up after Clerks and carried on and finished it off. 12. Drillbit Taylor 13. The Longest Yard (Sandler) 14. Baitshop. Bill Engvall is a former pro bass fishing champion. Billy Ray Cyrus is the current hotshot champion. Now Bill owns a bait shop. You’ve seen the movie. I know you think you have never even heard of it, but if you have ever seen a movie, you know the rest of the plot based on that two sentence description.

While there are serious issues with lackluster characters, pacing, and some poor editing, there’s still reason to check this out. Reynolds is charismatic and the action makes it fun at times. [**½]

Carnival of Blood (DVD) If I learned anything about this movie it’s not to take your spouse to Coney Island because it turns them into annoying, complaining, whining, yelling, materialistic, loathsome people and you into a bumbling fool that can’t throw darts to save your life. And one of you dies. This is pretty funny (sometimes on purpose, sometimes not) and the supporting actors and actresses are really good at making you completely hate them. The grimey quality adds a lot of atmosphere to the plot. Sadly the gore is too low and the shots of it are lighting fast. But that too adds to the chaotic, drug induced mayhem. The Horror House scenes are particularly nightmarish. Night turning to day back to night in seconds. Boom mics aplenty. Crowd shots reused the same time over multiple days. Audio cutting in and out. The greatest wig in the history of cinema. So bad it’s good. Loved it. I learned of a lot of the movies I’ve been watching the last few days via this article Ultimo Gallos brought to my attention last weekend: bleedingskull.com/bleeding-skull-50-the-best-something-weird-horror-films2/

An outstanding adventure film. The animation is great and there's emotion packed into it throughout, making for one of the most touching movies of that year. [****]

on a music documentary kick right now, so far ive watched
Sound City All Things Must Pass: Tower Records Beautiful Dreamer: Brian Wilson Presents SMiLe Now More Than Ever: The Story Of Chicago Chicago: The Terry Kath Experience
all are quite good watches, I feel what the proper Chicago doc lacks, the Terry Kath doc makes up for so you get a nice whole picture of that band.

![](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/bd/The-undertaker-and-his-pals-movie-poster-md.jpg) 47. The Undertaker and his Pals (DVD) This was pretty stupid. I liked it for the most part except I really hated the music. I hate that 1960’s swinging big band jazz stuff. But this had some decent humour and the violence was okay.

![](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/09/Wizard_of_gore_2007.jpg) 48. The Wizard of Gore. (DVD) I was so pissed off watching this because I ordered the 1970 original off a third party through amazon.ca and instead they sent me this, the 2007 remake. I watched it anyway because it was 2am and I wasn’t getting a refund or an answer to my angry email from the seller at the time. But I was so pissed off because I really wanted to see the original. It had Crispin Glover, who’s always awesome to watch and was incredible in this. So that was good. But it had the Suicide Girls, who I really have no time for. So it came down to the gore, which was good but too modern and polished looking. I wanted gritty. I’m in a gritty frame of mind. I’m a gritty guy. ![](https://nhl.bamcontent.com/images/photos/309842964/1200x630/cut.jpg) So whatever. I got some good gore and it was a decent movie but I didn’t get what I wanted or what I paid for. Hopefully the seller comes through or else I’m going to have to order it from somewhere else. And hopefully it’s all worth it in the end. Also of note; the lead character has a tattoo that’s just as unfortunate as Cody Rhodes’ recent tattoo.

43. Second in Command - This was a direct-to-video movie with Jean-Claude Van Damme. I would say it's just okay. I actually enjoyed some of the action scenes, especially some of the fights and shootouts. This definitely had more of a military theme to it, mixed with terrorism.

![](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/ba/Blood-feast.jpg) 49. Blood Feast (Bluray) This movie is so f***ing terrible but such essential viewing for anyone who loves the gore/splatter genre. It’s pretty intense now almost sixty years later. I can only imagine what people thought of it when it came out in 1963. The gore is fantastic but everything else is so bad. The acting, oi-vey the acting. It’s hard to pick who’s worst but I have to go with Tony (the Boy on the Beach). That’s not saying that the mom, the chief of police and the main girl aren’t f***ing horrendous too. The writing, oh the script. I didn’t like watching it on bluray as much because it was too clean looking. The gore jumped out of the screen but a nice grainy look is beautiful in its own right. Watch this; you’ll laugh and you’ll feel sick to your stomach.

#66 - Don Jon
*Blu-Ray
A better film the second time around, I am a big fan. Gordon-Levitt shines in every role he takes on for this film and gets help from a stellar supporting cast. It is a great take on the way society is shaped by the things we watch and tells that story in an interesting and fun way. [****]

44. Streets of Rage - Watched on B-Movie TV (a Roku app). First things first, this does not, I repeat, DOES NOT have anything to do with the video games. Okay, now with that out of the way, onto my take. This had a little bit of promise at first. I think Mimi Lesseos did a sort of decent job with what she had to work with. I wonder if she has a legitimate martial arts background. I know it was said that she was a wrestler, as she had wrestled for AWA and LPWA (I think maybe I have seen her on some LPWA shows on YouTube in the past). Plus, she had a production credit and also did some of the screenplay. However, the problem with the film was that it wasn't sure with what it wanted to be. It had some action, but also some elements of an after-school special. Also, some of the acting was just bad, especially from the guy playing the villain, and also the child actor. I wouldn't recommend it, really.
Back to the part of the game, I think that if there was a movie based on the game in the 1990s, I actually think she would have been good as Blaze.
45. The Hard Corps - Watched this on DVD. I will say that this was a decent straight-to-video Jean-Claude Van Damme flick. It had an urban feel, and I mean as in a hip-hop type of feel. The main villain was clearly inspired by Suge Knight. I had a feeling that Vivica A. Fox was somewhat of a love interest, but I felt somewhat of some chemistry between her and JCVD. It didn't feel forced, even though some sequences felt like she was chasing after him. There were some predictable cliches, like dirty cops, and as noted, a romantic subplot. However, I would be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy it, because I actually did. It could have been a bit shorter, though.

![](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/03/Onward_poster.jpg) 50. Onward (Theatre) I loved this. When I saw the previews I thought it looked bad but it’s probably one of my favourite Pixar movies. What I think really made me like it was how much of the character design was inspired by Dragon Quest. The overall story was typical of Pixar but the last few of their mainline movies haven’t clicked. Here’s one that’s going to fly under the radar and be forgotten in a few weeks and that’s too bad.

46. Cradle 2 The Grave - Watched this on DVD. Okay, so I am a little late as I had watched some others between Exit Wounds and this. Of course, I can always do triple-features of RMD, EW, and C2TG whenever. Anyway, I have always enjoyed this movie, even for a lot of its absurdity. This is probably one of the very few movies, if only, that has an ATV chase. The fight scenes were fun and I am sure the one that comes to mind when talking about this movie is the part when Jet Li fights the MMA guys. There was still a little wire fu like in the other two films. I did enjoy the fight with Jet Li and Mark Dacascos, but it was ruined by the editing of adding some other sequences midway. But all in all, I still have fun with this film.
PS I still plan to post the actual reviews of those three hip-hop martial arts films. I like to think of those as a trilogy, because they have the same style, had some of the same people in those films and to top it off, they were all done by the same director.

![](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/15/Wreckitralphposter.jpeg) 51. Wreck-It Ralph (Disney+) I do love me some John C. Reilly, even if it’s just his voice I’m smiling. But I can’t stand Jane Lynch in any capacity. But even moreso I HATED Pixels. So I liked this movie because it redeemed 1980’s nostalgic arcade game movies.
