#75 - Kill Bill Vol. 1
*Netflix
With tons of glorious violence, great fight scenes, good music, and the combination of solid acting and an interesting plot, this is one of my favorite Tarantino flicks ever. [****]

Watched Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter (free on Amazon Prime). I clicked on the movie expecting nothing and ended up with a rare treat. This low budget comedy/action was much better than I would have guessed. It's worth a watch if you are bored and want to see some shit.
It's much more clever than it has any right to be.

16) Legend
Watched this last night after having meant to for a while. Tom Hardy is wonderful in his dual role as twin crime lords. The rest of the movie is VERY pedestrian, and I was not much of a fan. Hardy really elevates some bland material.

#76 - Kill Bill Vol. 2
*Netflix
The things that worked the first time around are mostly back in terms of acting and action. However, there are major pacing problems. A disappointing final act also keeps this from reaching the heights of its predecessor. [***]

Either way what the f***?

59. Moon of the Wolf (DVD) f***ing boring ass shit. It’s a TV movie from the 1970’s and I swear this DVD was a direct copy from a VHS of the original 1972 airing. Complete with fades in and out for commercial breaks. It’s strange because when I went to the IMDB page for the movie the quality looked just fine. When it was daytime I could make out what was going on but when it was dark it was just a big blur. It’s as typical a TV movie as I can remember. I haven’t watched on of those in years. Decades. Do they even make them anymore? But I remember all the ones I ever watched that looked cool had nothing happen for the first half then as soon as stuff started happening I had to go to bed. This was no exception. It wasn’t all bad. I liked the guy who played the sheriff. I do wish he did up more of the top buttons on his shirt. He looked like he was wearing a sweater under it. And they did a good job of casting guys who looked like genuine bayou swamp people. In case you’re wondering why I’m watching some of these abysmal movies ON DVDS THAT I OWN AND PAID MONEY FOR it’s because I got a good deal on an 8-pack of movies off Amazon Marketplace that included Carnival of Blood so I went for it. And here I am. www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B001ED3JLE?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_imageTerror at Red Wolf Inn and Carnival of Blood were at least good. But yeah, only subject youself to this if you buy an 8-pack of movies and it’s included.

#77 - Call Me By Your Name

Thanks to great dialogue, a touching romance, and tremendous acting, this movie more than delivers. It gets held back by the fact that it kind of struggles to get going in the first half and doesn’t hook you until the second act. [***½]

54. The Hunt - Saw this in theaters (Yes, you read that right, but my local theater was doing a "first come, first serve" thing with the seating for precautions). I had to seize the opportunity to see it before that theater would close temporarily, especially because I was looking forward to this movie even before it got cancelled. Anyway, onto my take. It was really more of a dark comedy with some action and horror elements. I had fun with this movie and Betty Gilpin, man, I hope she does more movies. I have had a crush on her since seeing her on GLOW and she also can play a badass. It was pretty gory and try to look past all of the political stuff and you can have fun with it. It almost reminded me of The Belko Experiment. I think I should revisit that one soon.
55. My Hero Academia: Two Heroes - Watched this on DVD. So basically after watching MHA: Heroes Rising a couple of weeks ago, I felt like watching this. I think that I might actually get into this anime. This was also a pretty fun film with a good story.

Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter (Amazon Prime) I just had to check this out too. It was incredible. As soon as I saw it was made in Ottawa it all made sense to me. Had this came out a few years earlier I don’t doubt that Tom Green would have taken part in it but he was a household name by the time this came out. It took me back to the days of late night Canadian cable TV of the 1990’s.

44. The Ghastly Ones (DVD) Wow. This is just... Wow. All you need to see is the intro scene. Some of the worst acting, sound editing, filming and overall quality ever put to tape. And it only gets better...worse? The gore is f***ing insane for 1968. Wow Just, wow. 45. Seeds of Sin (The same DVD) and Wow some more. This movie amped up the sex by fifty and the violence down by about the same. It’s pretty much a blue movie, which I didn’t know they had back in the 1960’s. But the actors faces are mostly obscured because they used body doubles to stand in for the actors. Body doubles that had completely different body types. And in one case hairstyles. In the end it just managed to make sex boring and unbearable. The women are at least attractive, unlike the last movie. Aside from that being the same director it had the same terrible editing, camerawork, acting and everything else as the last movie. This Andy Mulligan fellow is often regarded as one of the worst directors of all time and I’ve never heard of him before today but it’s not hard to see. Seeds of Sin has a really nice Blu Ray release. Got that same dvd you mentioned for Xmas a few years back from an Aunt. 43-The Undertaker Amazon Prime This is the Joe Spinelli film. It is crap. Padded out with lots of footage from the PD film The Corpse Vanishes. Avoid it. 44-Verotika Blu Ray/DVD/Soundtrack Edition Pre-ordered this after seeing a few reviews of it from the festival screenings.Glenn Danzig wrote and directed this horror anthology. First story is about a lady that has eyeballs where her nipples are suppose to be. When she goes to sleep this 6 armed SPider/man thing goes around strangling the models that Eye NIpples works with. The second story is about a stripper that is cutting off hookers' faces. This one has X-pac as the bouncer at the strip club the killer works at. Imagine if the 90s Dr Caligari met up with a 70s eurohorror/sleaze movie that is airing at 1am on a Friday on Cinemax and it is 1986. I got a feeling this is gonna be a huge cult hit in a few years.

Other than a few pacing issues, this film is spectacular. The continuous shot style was an inspired one and everything makes you feel like you’re actually out there with the main characters. The combination of the atmosphere, great acting, and fantastic directing made this special. [****]

*IFC
The Watchmen story, characters, and concept are all pretty strong here. Snyder also brings some quality visuals to this. However, the pacing is atrocious and this feels far longer than it’s already lengthy runtime. It’s a drag. [**½]

62. The Severed Arm (DVD) This had a really good concept and could have been an awesome movie if it was just more brutal-er. Six guys get trapped in a cave-in, after enough time that it took for them to all have nice beards they draw straws to see who they should eat, they get rescued as soon as they cut the losers arm off and five years later he starts taking revenge. It’s too bad it was basically a PG-13 movie. Give that script to Fulci and you’d have had a wicked bloodbath.
