412. Pet Sematary Two (1992) – for me probably one of the better sequels based on a Stephen King work (slim pickings I know), after an electric opening (pun intended the rest of the film I think works thanks a lot in part to Clancy Brown's performance but there is a lot of moments I really liked
413. Heaven Knows What (2014) – unflinching is the best way to describe this movie about homeless drug addicts in New York, there is no linear plot (which isn't a bad thing here) and some of the performances are rough around the edges but in many ways I think that adds to it. Recommended.
414. Screamers (aka Island of the Fishmen) (1979) – really memorable opening, and while the rest of the film doesn't live up to that, but the rest of the film is still pretty damn enjoyable.
415. Guncrazy (1992) – Drew Barrymore is one of my biggest crushes of all time so I'm biased one it comes to her movies. Every male is shitty to Drew including her stepfather played by Joe Dallesandro (who always make a great creep) and she gets a prison pen pal, I think the films first half is more interesting then the second, but I still liked it.

The opening was insane and I thought I was in for a ride then the rest was just there

130. Prime Evil. *DVD* This was another forgotten Satanic movie, this one from a bit later (the 1980’s). It had its moments. Some good violence, lots of boobs, terrible acting, some inept cops who I’m not sure are supposed to be comic relief and during one scene when the satanic underling picked up a hooker some Seinfeld music. And a cool Satan. But it felt too much like a made-for-TV movie. I say “pass” but there are worse ways to blow ninety minutes.

34. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002)
There's people who like to say "I'll take the prequel trilogy over the sequels any day!" Between this and The Phantom Menace, I strongly disagree. One part of the movie is a fun adventure with Obi Wan. The other is the love story of Anakin and Padme, a sloppily written plot line that is far less interesting. Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman barely have any chemistry here (they did seem to get better in the next episode, even if just by a little). The "brotherly" bond between Obi Wan and Anakin barely exists in this movie, and for people who have not been exposed to any part of the EU, this begs the question, "Why did old Obi Wan regard Anakin as one of this greatest friends when they've spent nearly this whole movie at each other's throats?"
This manages to be the worst Star Wars movie, beating out even its predecessor.

#171 - Doctor Strange
*Disney+
Bringing magic into the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a bold move that mostly paid off. Casting Benedict Cumberbatch and crafting a strong origin story, combined with the dazzling effects, makes this standout. There are some issues that keep it from the cream of the MCU crop, though. [***½]

124. Short Circuit (1986)125. Short Circuit 2 (1988) 126. Necessary Roughness (1991) 127. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010)So when I saw this movie in theaters back in the day I loved it. Re-watching it now on Netflix streaming I have to be honest and say it was tough to sit through. I mean, it has a lot fun stuff going for it. Awesome action scenes, love the video game feel of it all, some great humorous bits, just a cool aesthetic all-around. But the now 40 year old BlackoutCreature just could not get past the fact that every person in the movie was an utter jerk. Scott was at least was a charming jerk, almost everybody else was just an asshole. And I know I've gotten in trouble saying this in another thread, and I know there are a ton of issues with it, but the movie went out of its way to show that Knives was a better match for Scott then Ramona. So why do an ending where Scott winds up with Ramona? It's not like she and Scott really had any chemistry, and it seemed like she had a ton of issues she still needed to work out before getting into a relationship. It just felt liked something tacked on to get the ending to match the comic or, worse, to please a focus group. I did like how Roxy has the same melee weapon as Latts Razzi though.

I can't believe I am saying this. You need to watch the Dora the Explorer live action movie - Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019). It's so, so good. Like the Goonies meets Indiana Jones good.

131. Terrified *DVD* For an early-1960’s PG thriller this was actually really good. The characters were all likeable, the concept of “terror” was great and the graveyard/ghost town setting and perpetual darkness really worked. Had it been filmed in any later era and not in black and white I don’t think it would have. Yeah it was tame compared to what I usually watch but I really enjoyed it. If anything maybe it was a little too long. Some of these older movies running barely an hour is sometimes best. This was eighty minutes and felt like too much.

132. Mega Shark verses Kollosus *Amazon Prime* This one had me when they introduced an African-American General (or something) named “Jackson” who clearly was not meant to be based off another more well known actor with a similar style delivery. I’m sure it was just a coincidence. Asylum would never, would they?

You can tell this is a Coen Brothers film almost immediately, even if it's different from most of their work. It just has their style all over it. The film doesn't follow your traditional plot and that helps it stand out. Oscar Issac is tremendous as the lead and there are some fun supporting performances from the likes of Justin Timberlake and Adam Driver, plus an adorable cat, which makes this an enjoyable watch even when the story isn't gripping. 108. The Abyss - Saw this on HBO Go. This was definitely something I had been meaning to watch for a bit, but just didn't get the chance to. Now that I have seen it, I have to say that it's definitely an underappreciated film from James Cameron. Not a lot of people talk about it, but it definitely had a good story going for it. Whether it's the survival aspect, the conflict with Michael Biehn's character, and of course the bit involving searching for the aliens in the ocean. This film also had stunning visuals, great effects for its time, and of course, great performances from the actors, especially from Ed Harris.
I am now wondering if I should check out the extended edition. I know it's longer, but I wonder if that version is better.

416. Invisible Sister (2015) – Disney Channel original movie starring then Girl Meets World star Rowan Blanchard and other actors from Disney Channel series. The film is at it says on the tin – a girl makes her sister invisible. It's a decent enough film with some likable performances.
417. Night Child (aka The Cursed Medallion) (1975) – I probably alread mentioned in an earlier post, but the young star of ths, a little redheaded girl (Nicolette Elmi) as appeared in an all bunch of Italian movies I've watched this year, I get some horror films like to build an atmosphere but something needs to happen.
418. Of Time and the City (2008) – pretty much a documentary collage using newsreel and documentary footage and the director Terence Davies recalling his life in Liverpool. Everything comes together quite magnificently.
419. The Valley (aka Obscured By Clouds) (1972) – Barbet Schroeder's 2nd film with a soundtrack by Pink Floyd, after More, this is the better film of the two, it's beautifully shot, and of course great music but it wasn't the sort of film I wasn't fully invested in.

133. Blood Mania *DVD* Porn without the porn. Horror without the horror. Quite possibly the most misleading title of all the bad horror movies I’ve seen. At best I can say this is an American attempt at a gaillo movie. But I did learn that Greedo (yes, that Greedo) was played by a hot redhead and now I can say that I’ve seen Greedos boobs. Movies like this are always funny when the lead actor bangs every girl in the movie then you find out the lead actor was also one of the lead writers. It did have a decent final ten minutes but the previous seventy were pretty boring.

It's a classic for a reason. It has almost everything you want in a movie. Great acting, sharp dialogue, interesting situations, and unique characters. The standouts are Travolta and Jackson for sure. The film can certainly drag at points but it's fantastic. [****½]

420. 4/20 Massacre (2018) – run of the mill slasher where nothing is particularly original but it's a decent enough watch, though the stoner girl is cliched she does have some enjoyable moment. Saw James Storm in the opening credits and was hoping for the wrestler, instead it was a veteran actor. You are not missing out if you don't watch this.
421. Bicycle Thieves (1948) – when some films have been called the greatest film ever made, it's obviously got a lot to live upto, and in the case of Bicycle Thieves, yeah and to be fair this is pretty excellent, really well acted and I got emotionally invested.
422. Sympathy For The Devil (1968) - Godard directed movie partially with The Rolling Stones developing and rehearsing SFTD (don't come in excepting any of their other work) and also featuring scenes nothing to do with the band, avant garde is probably the right way to describe it. I liked it though.
423. City On Fire (1979) – disaster movie starring among others Henry Fonda, Shelley Winters and Leslie Nielsen, I know it's not the fault of the movie but Nielsen been here can't help but conjure up images of Airplane and you keep waiting for him to say a purposely funny line. It's all run of the mill but didn't mind it for what it was.

126. Necessary Roughness (1991) 127. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010) 128. 22 Jump Street (2014)So I had never seen this or the first movie before. Since I was never a fan of the series itself, the movies just never interested me. But I came across this on FX on Demand and knew it had a good rep, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm not gonna lie, it took me a little bit to warm up to this. I wasn't really feeling the first half and the fourth wall jokes just were not landing for me. But then in the second half the movie got completely insane and then I started really enjoying it. Maybe the first half would work better if I actually saw the first movie. 129. The Mask of Zorro (1998)Another find on Netflix streaming. Honestly, considering when this was made and what its contemporaries were like, this movie is a million times better then it has any right to be. Just a fun, fast-paced, charming story. I know it wasn't as well received, but I really should track down the sequel.

134. Nightmare in Wax *DVD* It’s too bad this movie didn’t come out five or six years after it did. It’s got a wonderfully grimey look and sound that’s not quite 1969 but grindy movies hadn’t reached the level of depravity that they would a few years later. So this is like a middle point between eras. One thing it should have held on to from the earlier era is the run-time. 98 minutes was way too long. 68 minutes would have been fine. It’s definitely got some creepy moments but it never gets past “6” on the Adam-scale.

There are some strong ideas in this film and two leads who I typically like. Sadly, it's all lost in a plot that gets unnecessarily muddled. There are plot points that will leave you scratching your head. It also has some truly awful pacing, making it feel closer to three hours than two. [**]
