34. Sonic the Hedgehog
It was watchable. Jim Carrey made an amusing Robotnik. Sonic looked acceptable. The story sort of made sense. Not something I will watch again but it was okay.

145. Dagon *DVD* This is a movie I’ve wanted to see for almost twenty years but never gotten around to until now. H.P. Lovecraft certainly wrote some incredible stories and yet there’s never been many film adaptations. This was creepy enough but the terrible CGI of the time really brought it down a notch. A lot of times it really reminded me of that game the Last of Us, just with fish people rather than plant people.

146. Hellraiser: Hellseeker *USB Drive* Just another movie in the Hellraiser series, noteable only for the return of Ashley Laurence as “Krissy” (from the first two movies. That’s really it. There’s nothing horrendous about it as some will have you believe. I paid nothing for it and I think I got my money’s worth.

141. Pokemon Detective Pikachu (2019)142. 'Twas the Night (2001) 143. The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island (1981) 144. Legally Blonde (2001)I DVR'd this off of Bravo a couple nights ago. Man, what happened to Bravo? I remember back in the 90's it was all artsy indie movies and one of the few channels on basic cable you could see boobies. It was the channel I first watched The Andromeda Strain on. Now it's all reality shows and not a boobie in sight. Anyways, the first half of this movie is actually kinda difficult to get through, everything Elle does just seems awkward and cringy. The second half, where Elle find herself, picks up tremendously though. Not a movie I'd go out of my way to watch again, but a fun enough time killer.

#187 - Killing Them Softly
*Netflix
Brad Pitt is pretty good in this, there are some surprisingly well done comedic moments, and a few scenes (a slow motion assassination in particular) look really good. The problem is that the whole thing is pretty boring and felt way longer than 97 minutes. [**]

35. 1917
Incredible cinematography. Great direction. Twists that are absurd but still believable. Definitely worth watching.

143. The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island (1981) 144. Legally Blonde (2001) 145. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)DVR'd this off the Ovation Channel. Another classic that I just could never get into. Too slow, too boring, and ET looks like a dried poop when he's dying.

147. Cannibal Holocaust *USB drive* Why go I continuously subject myself to this movie? Even after four or five viewings in less than a year it still makes me feel sick. ... That’s probably why I keep watching it. It’s just as bad as you’ve read it is and maybe then some.

been awhile since I updated...
June (continued) 60. Crooklyn (1994). Loved it, though didn't like the disorienting filming technique used later in the movie. 61. She's Gotta Have It (1986) (via Netflix). Decent. 62. School Daze (1988) (via Netflix). Fun, but not great. 63. 25th Hour (2002). Really good. 64. The Hills Have Eyes (1977). Creepy, enjoyable horror movie. 65. The Last House on the Left (1972). Odd mix of extremely disturbing scenes with oddball humor. Mixed feelings about the movie, but not boring. 66. Be Cool (2005). Fun, but not nearly as good as Get Shorty. 67. Summer of Sam (1999). Ambitious and mostly good. July 68. Chi-Raq (2015) (via Amazon Prime). Entertaining and mostly good. 69. Bamboozled (2000). Not sure Spike Lee hit the mark, but it damn sure wasn't boring. 70. Get on the Bus (1996). Pretty great and perhaps underappreciated. 71. Sister Act (1992) (via Disney Plus). Strong performances. Very fun overall.

148. found. *youtube, but I bought the DVD midway through* A more artsy, contemporary thriller/gore horror but daddy needed this. Incredible. I mean, I bought the DVD midway through watching it for free. What does that tell you?

#188 - Birds of Prey
*Blu-Ray
The best DCEU movie to date. The cast is all clearly having a good time, while the characters are well-developed, diverse, and clever. The film is vibrant, violent, and the late team up feels earned. The soundtrack is excellent, as well. I can see myself watching this often because it’s so much fun. [****]

144. Legally Blonde (2001) 145. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) 146. Batman (1989)So over the weekend the AMC channel had a marathon of all the 90's Batman movies. I DVR'd them and figured I'd start with this one. So basically a classic with great performances and an aesthetic that basically defined what Gotham looked like for decades to come.

149. Bordello Death Tales *DVD* This was on another compilation I bought. It’s one of those anthology movies like Creepshow. I don’t really like those kinds of movies. I prefer a full, fleshed out story. The first one (the Ripper) is plenty gory but nothing to get excited for. I’d watch a full length if only to get more of the build. Stitchgirl is just dumb. The old man is kinda funny and Stitchgirls expression and eyes are really good. Vice Day is one of the worst things I’ve seen in awhile. I almost turned the thing off. All three are really cheap and have some horrid sound editing. But if you want to see porn actresses practice the lesser used of their talents this is for you.

#189 - Villains
*Hulu
Right off the bat, there are some pacing issues. That being said, the film is bolstered by really good performances from Skarsgärd, Monroe, Donovan, and Sedgwick. There's enough strange stuff to keep you engaged from a plot point as well. [***]

145. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) 146. Batman (1989) 147. Batman Returns (1992)Part two of the AMC Channel's Batman movie marathon. You know, when you watch this movie so close to after watching Batman '89, it really dawns on you just how weird this movie is in comparison. The first one was basically about a mob boss who went insane. Yes The Joker was very theatrical in his actions, but there was almost a sense of realism to it. In this one any sense of realism is immediately thrown out the window with feral mutant babies thrown into the sewers to be raised by penguins. Of course the most unrealistic thing in the entire movie is still Christopher Walken's haircut. But hey, all that's not a bad thing because this is still a really fun movie. It's just showing the difference between a Batman movie directed by Tim Burton (the first one) and a Tim Burton movie featuring Batman (Returns)

-. Sinister Visions *DVD* Another crappy anthology, this one was maybe even worse than the one I watched yesterday. The first one “Succubus” was pretty much enough for me but I kept watching to see if it managed to get worse. There’s a few really dumb zombie shorts before another one called “My Undead Girlfriend” with really bad fake accents and I turned it off. I’m not even including it in my tracking numbers. 150. Brutal Jesus and the House of Wasted Youth *DVD* Another short on a different set I bought but I liked this one, mostly because the guys at the beginning were all wearing cool t-shirts. I really liked the filtering on the camera. It was very unique. The movie itself was pretty dirty and strange so I liked that. It reminded me of those weird shorts you’d see in MTV late at night. Jesus revenge kills a bunch of derelicts.
