157. Trolls World Tour *bluray* I hate this movie. We have Covid shutting everything down to thank for its lasting longer than the weekend that it was released in peoples minds. 158. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs *Netflix* I actually like this movie, and it’s sequel. I’m not sure why I like this one and hate so many other movies my kids make me watch. Probably that crush I have on Anna Farris.

#199 - Lost Girls
*Netflix
A harrowing story that honestly holds nothing back. Amy Ryan gives a powerful performance and Thomasin McKenzie is really good. However, this didn't do quite enough to stand out. [***]

Did a double-feature today and watched both of these on Blu Ray.
130. The Raid: Redemption - It had been said that this was one of the best action films of all-time and I would say that this was among the top action films of the 2010's. It had great fight scenes and it sure as hell did not pull any punches on the violence and the gore. It also had a good story to go with it. Sure, on the surface one would guess it would be like Die Hard with it being set in the building, but there was more to it as certain events unraveled. I also must note that I saw this in theaters a while back.
131. The Raid 2 - Definitely lives up to its reputation and this was also one of the best action films of the 2010's. Like the first film, it had great fight scenes and such, but there was more story involved in this one. This one was definitely more of a crime thriller as there was more exploration with some characters and the criminal organizations. I also saw this one in theaters when it came out.

38. Doctor Sleep
Danny Torrance (from “The Shining”) is all grown up and protects a young girl from a band of vampires who suck the life energy out of people. Very well done. Definitely worth watching.

159. Return to Horror High *USB drive* I avoided watching this for almost a year because I was worried it was a sequel to a terrible movie I watched last year called “Horror High”. But it wasn’t. The words “Horror high” we’re just a title. Instead of a sequel to a terrible movie I got at pretty darn good 1980’s slasher comedy with some actors I really like and a lot of great blurring of the lines. Too bad I waited but glad that I watched. And it turns out the movie I was apprehensive about this being the sequel to was actually called “Hell High”...which came out two years after this.

160. Zombie 3 *DVD* I watched this earlier this year but I could barely remember it, so I gave it another go. It’s more “mutants” than zombies but it still delivers on the gore (the pool scene especially). I don’t know why Fulci himself denounced it. It’s not on the level of his top tier stuff but it’s still good zombie trash. The only thing I don’t like is that the extras (all locals) are terrible and the zombies aren’t consistent. Some move like ninjas while others lumber like zombies should. Some die from being shot in the chest or falling out a window, some get steaks through the neck and keep coming. Some want to eat humans and some just want to fight humans. I did find my attention waining in the last half.

#200 - Impractical Jokers: The Movie
*Vudu
I enjoy the Impractical Jokers, so I really liked the parts of this movie where they do what they're known for on TV. That's fun. When they try to tell the story involving Paula Abdul, the movie struggles and isn't funny. That makes for a mixed bag at best. [**½]
#201 - Black Panther
*Disney+
I don’t believe this was the best MCU movie as I’ve heard some people claim. It has plenty of flaws like a protagonist without much to do, one too many characters, and poor CGI. However, there is plenty to like. The world they built is outstanding, the villain is the best they’ve ever come up with, and the supporting characters rule. It also stands as a huge achievement in terms of what this film meant to so many people and why it was as successful as it was. A great movie that is just shy of the MCU’s top five or so. [****]

39. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
Visually, it was very entertaining. Then again (and I’m not sure if this is because I never saw the first Fantastic Beasts) the story line was overly confusing and there were way too many characters that I couldn’t keep straight. I loved the Harry Potter movies. It annoyed me that I didn’t like this.

161. Xtro 3: Watch the Skies *DVD* I bought this by accident thinking it was the original Xtro. I’m not even sure if that movie is available in my region. This was just a poor (very poor) mans mixture of Fire in the Sky and Predator. Not entirely horrible but pretty damn horrible. The gore of stationary dead bodies was good .

76. Jeremiah Johnson (1972) I found it engrossing. It's sort of a series of episodes set in the old west wilderness. It's great.
77. The Blob (1958) I realize this was a relatively cheap b-movie meant for teens. I enjoyed it for what it was. It was also kind of funny to see Steve McQueen a few years from super stardom and the woman who went on to play Opie's teacher on The Andy Griffith Show playing teenagers, when they both looked to be pushing 30. Anyway, I enjoyed it and kind of feel like watching more movies from this era like I Was a Teenage Werewolf. All this said, The Blob is not among the best sci-hi/horror movies from this time period.

162. Women's Camp 119 *DVD* This movie upsets me a lot more than any gore movie I watch. The Holocaust is something that I really have a hard time with, and this movie paints an extremely gritty picture of the horrors that were committed. It also puts present day into perspective. We don’t know shit about living life in terror.

155. Here Comes the Boom (2012) 156. Crocodile Dundee II (1988)157. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) 158. The Christmas Star (1986)This is part three in the Traditional, First Annual Weird and Obscure Disney+ Christmas in July Spectacular!!! This is a 1996 TV movie that aired on whatever Disney was calling their network anthology series at the time. It stars some fairly prominent names like Lou Grant, Herman Munster and Odo. Lou Grant plays a criminal who escapes from jail by dressing up as Santa. He's eventually found hiding out in the basement of two kids who think he's actually Santa, and he winds up drafting them and the other neighborhood kids into an Ocean's Eleven style scheme to steal some money that his old partner hid in a way too over-designed department store Santa throne. Meanwhile "Santa" is being pursued by Officer Herman Munster, and the kids' family are on the verge of being thrown out of their home by their miserly landlord Odo. So "Santa" gets the money, and then the whole movie goes insane. He somehow winds up on a magical haunted Christmas train where his old partner guilt trips/terrifies him into doing the right thing. He then apparently beats the Christmas spirit into Odo, stopping him from evicting everyone, apologizes to the kids, resurrects a dog (?!?!), makes it snow, then turns himself into the cops where he's taken back to jail to lead all the prisoners in Christmas carols. This whole movie surprisingly downbeat and melancholic most of the time, made even more apparent by Fred Gwynne, who puts in a much wackier performance then anybody else in this. The kids are not good. The girl is really annoying, and the boy feels way too old to be falling for this stuff. Over-all it's ok, but very very weird.

#202 - Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
*HBO Max
A spectacular animated film. It features a stellar adventure, a fantastic protagonist, and a fleshed-out world. You can see what makes Hayao Miyazaki so special as a filmmaker. [****]

163. Strike of the Tortured Angels *DVD* Another women in prison movie but this is the polar opposite of the last movie I watched. Skimpy outfits, giggling, clothes torn off, hair pulling. None of that matters when you see the one girl with the worst “blackface” since Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder.

Watched both of these on HBO Go.
132. The Nice Guys (2016) - I remember seeing ads for this back in 2016 and also heard that it was good, even though I read that it didn't do too well. I got to say that it definitely is good. It's definitely a dark comedy, with certain things getting laughs from me. Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling also had a good dynamic. Aside from Iron Man 3, I really haven't seen all of the films that Shane Black had directed. I think I should check out Kiss Kiss Bang Bang soon.
133. The Night Before (1988) - As it says, it's the 1988 film with Keanu Reeves and Lori Loughlin. I will tell you that I remember seeing bits of it on a local channel way back when, but this was the first time I had seen it all the way through and I have been trying to find a way to watch it, too. Anyway, this was an entertaining film. I had a lot of fun watching this and just a little note, it was nice to see Lori Loughlin in her underwear in one scene.

#203 - Underwater
*Vudu
How was this not marketed as an underwater Cloverfield? There are a lot of similarities from creature design to the way we see more of it as the film progresses. It doesn't try to do anything new but packs a lot of action into it and is well shot. Plus, you have to love the way a movie gets right into the good stuff about two minutes in. A really enjoyable movie. [***½]

164. Headless *DVD* I bought the DVD of that movie Found and the “movie within the movie” Headless is included in the bonus features. Sadly it’s not the full-length movie that came out a few years later but the short film that was shown in Found. Whatever. I needed to see this. And what a sickening ride it was. Just...nasty f***ing garbage and I loved it. Now I have to find the full length that came out a few years later but it’s expensive as f*** everywhere I see it. But if it’s anything like this repulsive trash it’s got to be worth the hunt. -. Deep Dwellers *DVD* Also included on said DVD is the full version of Deep Dwellers (which appeared in Found) but it’s only six minutes long so it’s not really worth including on my list, but it is worth mentioning. It’s more just 1970’s horror cheese but it’s fine enough. It’s really late so I don’t have time now but I really want to watch Found itself again, even though I watched it two weeks ago.
