339. Asian School Girls *Tubi* I deserve this one. Asylum makes a movie preying on guys like me’s fetishes. For an Aslyum movie it’s (Commercial break) really f***ing dark. Four Asian school girls are drugged and raped and seek revenge. (Commercial break) At the root of it it’s still an Asylum movie. Bad acting. Bad script. There are some boobs but (Commercial break) getting to those is like pulling teeth. But none of that true Japanese humour. Or audio track. And I’ll be honest: the girls are all hot and entirely out of this fat old f***s league but nowhere near as cute as the ones in the real Japanese movies. (Commercial break) I am thankful that Ultimo Gallos got me aware of Tubi though, there’s a lot on there I want to...shit the one girl (Sam Aotaki) is f***ing hot. Forget what I said (Commercial break) 10/10

#353 - Thoroughbreds
*Blu-Ray
Outstanding. The acting is exceptional, the direction and writing are sharp, the characters are well thought out, and the music is incredible. We’re given a lot to think about by the time the credits roll. Has vaulted into the #2 for my best movies of 2018 list. [****½]

340. Brain Damage *Tubi* This is one I’ve wanted to see for a while but DVD prices were way too much than I wanted to shell out. But thanks to this f***in’ Tubi (Commercial break) service I was able to catch it. And it honestly would have been worth some of the lower prices I saw it for online. It was a really f***ing fun movie; made by the guy that did Basketcase but with Frankenhooker in mind. Even sharing (Commercial break) some of the cast. The gore wasn’t too high but it was just enjoyably weird and special. And I was able to find another movie that my favourite pornogrind band Last Days of Humanity sampled on their Sound of Rotting Fluids Sloshing Around You Coffin album, on the song ‘A Reeking Pile of Septic Fluid’. +1000

613. The Wizard of Speed and Time (1988) – this film is so goofy that it can't help but being endearing, it took five years to complete and at times it's clearly a showcase for the director and star Mike Jitlov's use of special effects, which there is loads, all the characters are caricutures (including some obvious Cheech and Chong expys). Worth a watch. (**) 614. The Christmas Toy (1986) – so it's a film about toys coming to life when humans aren't around and a toy being jealous of a new outer space toy... This movie is sweet with a likable main character, who is more naïve then Woody was, some of the toys objectively though do look unintentionally creepy. (****1/2) 615. The Big Bluff (1955) – it's fair to say it's a middle of the pack film-noir but I got into it which was what is opponent and I really liked the ending. The film was director by W. Lee Wilder – the Brother of Billy Wilder (one of my favourite directors) (*1/2) Christmas Films I've seen for the first time order of preference (Films I've watched in December only) {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}1. Scrooge (1935) 2. Anna and the Apocalypse 3. The Christmas Toy 4. Christmas With The Coopers 5. The Nights Before Christmas 6. Santa Who? 7. Noelle 8. My Christmas Inn 9. Godmothered 10. Last Christmas 11. Surviving Christmas 12. Merry In Laws 13. Christmas With The Kranks

A good old fashioned, wholesome Christmas movie. I wanted to come in relax, and have a good time watching this. It accomplishes that goal and is a good time. [***]

341. Blood Quantum *DVD* Growing up in Canada I’ve actually seen quite a few native movies. They’re good. This one I liked because it had the one guy who was in the third season of Fear the Walking Dead and the guy who played Nobody in Dead Man. At the root it was just another zombie movie. The gore was good. That’s really it.

616. Anarchy TV (1998) – starring a bunch of people I associate more with TV (Alan Thicke, George Wendt) and four Zappa's, this comedy feels very 90s and it isn't a bad thing, it reminds me of other films like UHF (only not as good), what I will probably most remember about this movie is Susan from Friends (Jessica Hecht, I know she's done a lot more then Friends) doing full frontal.
617. Disaster... The Movie (2005) – not to be confused with Disaster Movie, I wouldn't wish that comparison on any movie. I mean this isn't a good movie, it's rarely funny, I don't mind juvenile and sex jokes but most of these don't work and given the time period it was made you can't help but think of Team America. It's not a long film so watch it if you haven't got anything better to do.

206. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - Watched this on DVD. So I wanted to watch a Shane Black movie as it is Christmas-time. I had not seen this movie before but I had heard about it. All I can say is that it's definitely fun dark comedy/mystery thriller. Being that Shane Black wrote and directed it, it reminded me of The Nice Guys, which I watched months ago. I wouldn't be surprised if he used the style of this one for The Nice Guys, even though that came out more than a decade after this one. Robert Downey Jr. played his character well. What stood out to me was Val Kilmer's performance, though. Being that this was a mid-2000s movie, I will give it to Black for not portray Kilmer's character as a stereotypical gay man. I suppose it was at the time when we were slowly progressing as a society. I would say it's definitely a good film.

207. The Christmas Chronicles - watched it on Netflix. I had been meaning to watch this. I was at my sister's house for dinner and she put it on. I had a lot of fun with this. Kurt Russell was a great Santa Claus and he really seemed like he had fun playing him.

This is a pretty solid action flick. It has a cliched plot for sure but Jessica Chastain does just enough to make this pretty enjoyable. [***]

342. Ghoul School *Tubi* This one really moved at a snails pace and that’s too bad. When it got going it was really f***ing good. The gore it was pretty wretched stuff. And even the super low budget makeup was great. The humour was pretty funny and the acting extremely bad. The editing was hilarious and the music was some cool 1980’s metal. Once it got going I really liked this one. It was just a drag getting there.

618. You Wish! (2003) – Disney Channel original movie that I actually found quite enjoyable, I have soft spot for wish gone wrong sort of films anyway. Teenager wishes his annoying younger brother away, life appears to be better for him at first glance (and the brother is suddenly an unrelated TV star too!) but you realizes he does miss his younger brother.
619. Wheels of Fire (1985) – one of those Mad Max inspired/rip-off movies that popped up in the 80s actually turned out for me to be a low-budget b-movie gem. Memorable characters (that you remind you as characters from other films) and scenes. It says a lot about the amount of cult cinema I watched this year that this is not even the first movie a woman as being tied naked to the front of a car and drove around. Like I said I dug this.

620. Happiest Season (2020) – Mackenzie Davis brings her girlfriend Kristen Stewart home for Christmas but she isn't out to her family so she pretends they are roommates, while not entirely an original plot it works thanks in no small part to it's cast, and does a good job with the story – you question though they care about each other, should they really be a couple? One of the better Christmas movies I've seen this year. 621. Black Christmas (2019) – I barely remember the first Black Christmas remake but did remember I wasn't impressed with it. This feels doesn't feel like a remake, just feels like the title as been slapped on it, I mean it's got a sorority house at Christmas connection but that's about it. I get what they was going for here but it was so hamfisted it just doesn't work despite the female cast having good chemistry. Not enough here to warrant a watch IMO. Christmas Films I've seen for the first time order of preference (Films I've watched in December only) {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}1. Scrooge (1935) 2. Happiest Season 3. Anna and the Apocalypse 4. The Christmas Toy 5. Christmas With The Coopers 6. The Nights Before Christmas 7. Santa Who? 8. Noelle 9. My Christmas Inn 10. Godmothered 11. Last Christmas 12. 232. The Million Dollar Duck (1971)Weird and Obscure Disney+ continues to wind down with this, its penultimate edition. Actually I'm pretty sure "Million Dollar Duck" is how Vince McMahon originally pitched the character to Ted Dibiase. In this theatrical release, Dean Jones (looking almost twenty years older then when we lost saw him in Blackbeard's Ghost three years prior) plays a financially strapped college professor who's wife, played by Suzanne Ple... wait a second, that's not Suzanne Pleshette! That's Sandy Duncan! Dean, are you stepping out on your fake movie wife? Oh well, his wife is played by Sandy Duncan, who's character is best described as "too dumb to live". They have a son, Jimmy, who really wants a pet. Preferably a dog, but his standards drop pretty quickly as the movie continues. Anyways, while at work a duck that Dean Jones is experimenting with gets exposed to gamma radiation. Now, rather then transforming into some sort of "Duck Hulk" as real scientific theory would predict, the duck simply obtains the ability to lay eggs where the yolk is solid gold. Not realizing this, Jones brings the duck home and gives it to his son as a pet. The kid and the duck bond pretty quickly, but when Jones finds out about the duck's "talent", he becomes obsessed with it. Then, after Sandy Duncan passes out some of the gold yolks to local refineries to make some quick cash, the Treasury Department gets wind of what's happening, and Richard Nixon himself orders them to seize the duck. The kid instead decides to grab the duck and make a run for it, leading to a crazy car chase through the streets of California that involved the G-Men, a garbage truck, some bike cops, a telephone repair truck with a cherry picker and the local no-good teens hot rod go-cart thing. In the end the government gets the duck and arrests Dean Jones, but in court it's discovered the duck is out of gold eggs, so Jones is let off the hook (apparently nobody care about the mayhem and destruction that the car chase caused) and the duck is returned to the kid. Happily ever after, the end. So apparently this is only one of three movies that Gene Siskel ever straight-up walked out on during his career as a film reviewer. Now I'm not saying this is a good movie. It's not. It's a very bad movie. It is silly and stupid. But if this ultimately harmless bad movie was Siskel's breaking point, then I shudder to imagine how he would've reacted to some of the output of the new millennium.

78. Robin and the Seven Hoods
Sat down to wrap presents today just as this started and I watched it all the way through. It is the Robin Hood story told as a Guys and Dolls musical starring Sinatra, his Rat Pack, and all his Hollywood friends. I love this movie.
79. Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
Terrible plot? Check. Cheap sets? Check. Awful acting? Check. Once considered one of the ten worst movies of all time? Check. It was my pick for today’s family Christmas movie. When it was over, my daughter asked,”Why did you make us watch that?” It is because I am evil. Muah-hah-hah-hah!!!

Pete Davidson is way better than I expected in this movie. It has some genuinely funny moments, a sweet story, and very good acting. The supporting cast is tremendous from Maude Apatow to Bill Burr. Like a lot of Judd Apatow films, it is too long and has pacing issues. [****]

208. Go (1999) - Watched this on DVD. It was either this or do a double feature of Blast (2004) and Exit Speed (2008), because those two take place on Christmas Eve. Being that it had been years since I last watched it, I decided to go with this one. I watched this as a teenager and I remember finding it interesting, but the one story that I remembered the most was the one in Vegas. Now, on the other hand, I appreciate this movie more because I can see that it's heavily inspired by Pulp Fiction with its storytelling. Characters were well-portrayed, but I think the scene-stealing moments were from Jay Mohr, Scott Wolf, Desmond Askew, and Timothy Olyphant. The rest of them still had some good performances. It definitely reeks of its era, which was the late-1990s.

Okay, so I am putting together a list that I will do either at the end or at the start of the new year. I realized I skipped over a number. I might just put the correct number for my next post, even if I repeat the number.
Edit: Okay, so I found that I skipped over another number. I will be more accurate when I post my next one for sure. I didn't realize I lost count. I went through some breaks here and there.
Another Edit: Okay, so I looked over my list and my real number is actually 206 so far. As noted, I will put the actual number in the next post.

343. American Guinea Pig: the Song of Solomon *Tubi* I’ve never seen the Exorcist since that movie is too scary for my liking. But this never gets to that level of scare. It does get to a wicked level of gore, which is more my taste. A lot of people would say it’s garbage and it probably is. But I’m the guy that gave Violent Shit 22/10. I think the acting is great. I’m not really religious at all but I thought it showed a great battle between good and evil. The music and camerawork was awesome and as I said the gore was insane. I saw it for free but this is one I’d buy. 18/10
