It was very important and something of a proof of concept, but it skewed too soap opera for my tastes. I quite like the actors, but some of the takes on the characters aren't so much my thing.

I never watched it, but I legit thought it had already ended. I heard a lot about it for awhile, but then it just kinda stopped being a thing a year or 2 ago. Did the quality take a serious dive or something?

Did the quality take a serious dive or something? Seasons 1 and 2 are awesome argueably the peak of the show season 3 falls in quality not to unwatchable depths season 4 is complete f***ing trash and nothing but a tumblr fanfic season season 5 is an amazing return to form mostly because of the main villan season 6 is a pretty steep fall ironically largely because of what they do with the villan side of things season 7 comes back being better than 6 especially the first 7-8 episodes and season 8 while not on par with 1 , 2 and 5 is largely better than 3 , 4 and 6 so falls right with season 7 IMO

Yeah, CW has a tendency of doing that but this goes into it hard. Season 1 with the love triangle was a bit of a chore to sit through

Amell's Oliver did start off a bit too much like Batman in personality, but became more open and lighthearted around his friends and loved ones as the show went on. Kara and especially Barry really brought out the best of him in the crossover episodes, too.
I also think Amell could completely crush a more comics-accurate take on the Green Arrow.

I got to Season 2, which people tell me is the peak, and just wasn't enjoying any of it. Bland world, bland characters, too much filler.

What really gets to me about them shitting on the laurel character is that is took them untill the show is done to FINALLY give everyone as close to comic accurate black canary as we have gotten but it aint even original laurel it is gawd damn black siren and also they gave everyone the bone of laurel and Ollie finally developing that relationship....right as the show ends. And then there was {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Only to of course have it be a dream They rubbed this shit in everyones face knowing what everyone wanted that wasn't into that dumpster of Ollicity. I hate what they did with Earth-1 Laurel's ultimate fate, but I think a soft reboot of the character was needed because E1 Laurel was as dull as dirt. At the time it came off like they sacrificed her to the altar of Olicity which really pissed me off (and I say that as someone who generally likes Felicity, though S4 was a really, really low point for the character). But I'm glad they brought back Katie as the more dynamic E2 Laurel. Her redemption arc was one of the few things I liked about S6 and how it carried into S7. The result is a character who is one of the good guys, but also has that edge to her that makes her more accurate to the comics character she's based on.

Yea Black Siren is who Laurel should have developed into but like u said they f***ed that character over so hard by sacrifcing to dumpster that is Olicity. But speaking of Black Siren wonder how many are aware or even remember we got Black Siren X Too bad we never got more of her as she was noticably more powerful than ordinary Black Siren and really does pose the question of where the hell was she during the CrossOver.

I feel like I’m the only one who never had any major issues with Felicity, and actually generally enjoy the character. I think there was maybe one episode that made me go “Huh, maybe the internet is right and she does suck” but it was literally one time

I thought that was a good acting choice from Amell. Oliver went through hell for 5 years, he's gonna have some serious baggage. Also, from his time on Lian Yu, he saw some of the closest people to him like Robert, Yao Fei, Shado, and Slade (he did come back, but all Oliver knew his former "brother" had turned against him and he had to kill him), die, and thought Sara was dead. So him shutting himself off from others made sense. Thanks to Dig, Thea, Roy, Laurel, Felicity, Sara, Barry, Quentin, and Kara, he opened himself up more.

Stephen also called audibles on some things for Oliver and the directors and showrunners went along with it, thinking it was a better idea. Like I remember Stephen talking about this one scene where a woman Oliver had a fling with in his playboy phase told him she got pregnant but miscarried. It could've been William's mother, thinking about it. The original direction for the scene was for Oliver to be a real selfish dick and just act relieved that he didn't have to take responsibility for a kid. But Stephen wanted Oliver to have a more human reaction to it and while he said the dialogue as written, he delivered it in a way where it came off like Oliver was putting up an act, but was genuinely upset that they lost the baby.

Need to get back into it, I stopped watching when they went real hard in the paint with Felicity and Ollie Yeah that’s when they lost me. The first couple of seasons with Deathstroke and Ra’s/Nyssa were great and then it became the Ollie and Felicity Smoak show. Haven’t watched since.

Yea it is like they saw her popularity grow and was like well the people like her and she's cute so let's put her with Oliver which was the worst f***ing decision. Her quirkiness is good in spades Doesn't help that every woman Oliver yearns for is the love of his life either

Funny thing about this show talking about Oliver with the various women he had better chemistry with every single woman that was NOT Felicity but yet Gugenheim and his tumblr fantasies kept forcing that f***ing shoe on the preverbial foot.
It reminds of me Lana and Clark on Smallville...but in this case Lana and Clark had pretty solid chemistry it was just that it was written clearly that Lana was toxic to Clark but they kept forcing and forcing that relationship.

There was a time when I watched every single episode of Arrow and the Flash and then it seemed to get to the point where I was alternating which I watched. One season I would watch all of Arrow but none of the Flash, then the next season it would be the opposite. I eventually got to the point where I lost interest all together and haven’t watched anything past season 6.

Yea when I was thinking of forced relationships Clark and Lana is up there but that was literally built up from the beginning with Clark having a crush on her to eventually them not being able to be together despite that is what both wanted Also Clark wasn't written to be with every woman except when he was on that kryptonite juice.

Between Flash and Arrow ...Flash is one that is drastically fluctuated in quality.
Arrow has its universal hated season in 4 and less quality seasons in 3 and 6 but generally its quality is consistent
Flash on the other hand every season is love it or hate it no in between.

Yea it was more like every woman came onto Clark Alicia was the only one that he legit gravitated towards to having a legit relationship with. Others it was an outside influence red K or magic etc
