967,000 viewers for the New Year's Day episode. I'd say TNT will be happy with that number.
Demo numbers:
P18-49: 0.36 F18-49: 0.21 M18-49: 0.52 P18-34: 0.19 F12-34: 0.11 M12-34: 0.22 P25-54: 0.41 P50+: 0.39
13th on Cable, 4th non College Football related.

I'll be honest, I expected about 750-800k considering past weeks and average audience and all that so that's a damn good number.

I guess the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl didn’t have much of an effect on the viewership as anticipated.

Both numbers are good AEW rebounding pretty big and NXT getting over 500,000 for a best of clip show.It will be interesting to see next weeks numbers when both shows are trying.

NIce.
Really would be fun to see how both AEW and NXT could do if they weren't head to head.

Some stats for AEW:
Demos are up everywhere, except for F 12-34 (0.11 vs 0.13) Best P 50+ ever. The first episode did 0.34 Best viewership since W3, beating 963k from W4.

So 700,00 and change apiece is what we can expect for both shows for a while, varying depending on who has the better-built card. Sounds good.

This likely suggests that on its own, it won't do too badly against a major sporting event, but tied at the hip with NXT it will suffer. Can presume they got a lot of people who normally watch NXT as it was the only live wrestling show on Wednesday night.

This is what happens when AEW actually hypes up their card.

That gives me little hope, I was ready to abandon the ship two weeks ago as I'm not ready to die yet.

In a way I question the logic of NXT doing the clip show. Just take the entire night off and don't even do a show, thus you don't give viewers a chance to make a choice. It wasn't an equal choice this week but still a choice, whereas A Christmas Story being on last week simply preempted AEW. Also, the week off gave fans a chance to forget about the goofy Dark Order angle that ended the previous show.

Nice! I quietly predicted 900k, they did slightly better. The show itself really deserved those numbers also.

That's a great number. I'm curious if the post-DVR number is higher since that's been very consistent even with the live viewership going up and down the past two months.

Won’t be no doom and gloom post this week
Good rebound number for AEW in their return. Something to build on, as it continues the trend of up and down for them but that week off may have done them some good

Even if it isn’t must see they are keeping something on TV tho as I said they been on autopilot last two weeks so With the holidays over and Takeover approaching in a month you should expect them to get back on it like they was before

They didn’t have much of a choice, since Full Sail Live is closed due to the campus being on Winter/Holiday Break.

Great number. Curious if both shows go back to pulling around 700K each next week.

See, I didn't think the Christmas NXT show was a big drop off in what they usually do. Strong/Theory in particular was an outstanding match. It was from 2 different arenas and had the studio panel stuff, but by and large it was a full card of wrestling.
As far as these shows go we know what NXT can do without AEW since they had 2 weeks. I think at best NXT could do about 1.1 million viewers.
