So take away the "rumour" part for a second...
Why are callups a concept still involving NXT? I thought the idea of having them win Survivor Series was to make them an actual brand now.
Like, with Io, it should be Regal getting phonecalls to swap her for someone else or getting one of their spots in the Rumble or something like that.

Are we still calling it call ups when NXT is supposed to be another brand?
Also does Io want to be on Raw or SD? If that is the case then put her on those shows as much as people will miss her in NXT, I don't see that being everyones preferred destination to stay in until they start traveling

It makes sense. Hopefully to Smackdown, given she'd have a much better chance of getting some focus there, given Shayna seems Raw bound. Io doesn't need to take a backseat to Shayna for the millionth time if they want to actually entice her to re-sign.

Are we still calling it call ups when NXT is supposed to be another brand? It might be a technical easy to use term for reports and such but if they're using that stuff on the show itself then that seems crazy to me. You don't go through all that at Survivor Series to lump it back as developmental again. Even if she isn't 100% convinced, I feel like WWE is going to try and make enough of an offer to make going to another brand worth it if that's the case like improving her contract in some way, making travelling easier and the like. Also if THAT happens, I feel this is the part of the whole shift in the industry where we see real improvement in contracts and such. Not to say it's going to be a massive shift but this is going to be where the benefit of there being a "war" comes in.

I cannot blame Io if she is missing her fiance but also feeling a bit frustrated because really she has been slowly been put to the back burner.
She has been amongst the if not most over woman in WWE especially in NXT.
she loses to shayna , reinvents herself becoming more over and then here comes Rhea and she is mega pushed ahead of Io just as she turned and in the time have turned Dakota heel and set in motion her and Rhea feuding which further has pushed Io back.
In her mind it is probably damned if ya do and damned if ya don't.

The draw of Raw and SD is still going to be the contracts obviously stuff like Wrestlemania and that nature. If she wants to do more traveling instead of being in Florida, then yeah send her to Raw or SD (probably RAW to travel with Kairi) but I can see why she would want to travel more even if she only does it for a while and goes back to NXT later Getting these contracts is no doubt the best benefit of having the "war" around. Say what you will about WWE wanting 5 year deals but that is 5 years of guaranteed money whether you are a featured person, enhancement talent, etc... Wrestlers are getting the power back in a sense and control their destiny as this isn't just AEW and WWE. Indies, NJPW etc are effected too because with a new company in AEW out there they could still lose talent

She wasn't pushed back anywhere tho, she was injured Rhea was the person crowned to beat Shayna as soon as she got there but that has not effected Io push in any way. She is still over and now the top heel on NXT and the person most likely to dethrone Rhea since those two have hardly touched in the months they have been on NXT together

WWE's not going to let her go without potentially paying a big amount of money if other deals fit in what they're doing contract wise and that might be the way she gets a reawakened push (regardless of how temporary those seem to be). On the other hand, Bushiroad are probably going to offer a bumper amount of money for her, she'll be one of the biggest stars on potential tours in America AND she gets to spend time back in Japan. They seem to have a big committment to STARDOM especially calling out both Io and Kairi by name as people they want which wrestling companies rarely ever do, if at all. It's a win/win for her but as you mentioned, way more factors than money.

Not 100% true. Fumi and Jim mentioned previously about this entire debacle that while Bushiroad wants them back, they primarily want to focus on building up their younger talent instead of bringing back older ones. The women's match at WK seemed to cement that even further considering Hana, Arisa, and Mayu were all really well received by audiences. Giulia is a bit of an unknown though. Just that having Io and Kairi around would be nice. The whole "OH THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE A BIG BID FOR THEM" is a narrative Dave is spinning, and he's a complete idiot when it comes to the modern joshi scene. Io has made it explicitly clear that she has done everything she wanted to do in Japan, and is focused on working in the US now. As for the whole missing her fiance thing, that's another narrative Dave is the only person pushing. He's been obsessed (in an unhealthy fashion) with pushing that narrative ever since Mauro accidentally revealed it on an episode of NXT. Dave did himself no favors on the WK Night 1 review, where he came across as completely clueless about the women in the match, and he did nothing but complain about it, claiming it was almost heatless, the audience wasn't into it, etc. Jim Valley called him out on it, and if you looked at Japanese social media at the time, the match got overwhelming praise from the audience. And if it comes down to a bidding war, WWE is going to easily be able to steamroll Bushiroad. They gave Kairi the main event slot at TLC (regardless of the match quality), and also Io is one of their most popular stars in NXT. And USA Network picked her out as their women's wrestler of the year. WWE will give them huge offers to keep them. I mean for gods sake, they gave Mike Kanellis a big sack of money to just sit around in catering, and no other company was interested in him.

Someone is already unhappy working in NXT, and you think moving them to RAW or SmackDown will IMPROVE things? LOL

Someone is already unhappy working in NXT, and you think moving them to RAW or SmackDown will IMPROVE things? LOL I think she might just be unhappy with the NXT schedule now that its live every week, but she never gets to leave Orlando. I think WWE's callup plan would be to put her on RAW so she would be closer to Kairi and Asuka. It would also free her up to move to a place like California, a place she seemed to really like. If she's creatively frustrated then yeah its a problem. But NXT can fix that by putting the title on her, and giving her input into her storylines. Rhea is the champion, but if it comes at the cost of Io leaving the company, then a sacrifice has to be made, in the form of Rhea dropping the title. Io leaving would be absolutely devastating for NXT (or WWE in general), since her segments are always some of the strongest ratings wise among the 18-49 demo. Rhea struggles with that demographic, but that's probably because her push comes across as forced, and her character isn't very good either. She's every generic "badass" babyface we've seen over the past few years.

Her loving California and maybe having a desire to live out there comes as no surprise because when she was out there for a day two at best for LU and those ladies were tweeting and going crazy for a local cookie store and also helps that Calfornia has a bigger asian population then Orlando or florida in general especially out in the OC. hope she is fully aware of how arm and a leg expensive it is to live there though.

The audience is split at best whenever she's in the ring with someone who isn't named Shayna. I mean Io was infinitely more over than Rhea at Takeover War Games and Survivor Series, and I have no doubt she would be more over than Rhea when they actually start feuding at some point. It's a forced push because its blatantly obvious WWE only wants you to care about Rhea and no one else. Hence her getting all of these huge victories/milestones in such a short timeframe since joining NXT.

Without question the top two women stars on that show who have not had a match yet, just segments

WWE finds themselves in a quandry here whethere good or bad.
Rhea is a hot babyface champion which has been needed because of Shaynas relentless hold on that title BUT now how long do you ride the wave of her as champion?
some would say like myself till Mania Takeover about 4-5 months as champion the first time around but others say that is enough time.
But lets use Becky as an example very over to a same degree but I think everyone can agree her title reign should have ended months ago because hostility has been slowly setting in and people are getting antsy now for her to lose it sooner than later because it is affecting her the perception of her reign.
WWE has to descide is Mania weekend to soon to take the belt off of her or do they wait longer and potentially miss out on Io and risk losing her completely if she is creatively frustrated despite being amongst the most over women in the whole company.

She doesn't need a long reign nor does NXT need another woman to have that long ass title reign Her and Io is a big time matchup to set for Mania weekend. HHH seemingly kept the titles on Asuka and Shayna for way too long but he typically does have a good ear when to make shit happen Add on how deep that womens roster is and you are going to have some sour individuals but Io can be satisfied and you want her and Rhea as your top dogs because they without question draw

WWE can say it's a true third brand all they want, but it's going to take way more than winning Survivor Series to get people to think of NXT as equal to Raw and Smackdown in the pecking order versus the Triple A of WWE's system.
