To be fair, no one ever talks about the hulking gorilla bodies Oda gives people like Franky or Burgess. With how The Hulk has been done in movies, those guys shouldn't be hard. Hulk's only around 20 or so minutes in a film.

Reading all the comments here and thinking about that arc again...I do have to agree that the Skypiea Arc feels like a filler arc considering that its only lasting impression is introducing the dials that Usopp and Nami would use during the course of the show. Otherwise, you could go from the end of the Alabasta Arc directly to the Water 7 Arc without losing much.
Though I guess Oda thought that an arc in between was needed to develop a connection between the crew and Nico Robin, otherwise, why should any of them give any flying feather about her turning evil again immediately?
Now pondering whether people know that the Skypiea Arc was an actual arc in the manga and not just an anime filler arc...

You know... Someone said something dope to me just now that makes so much sense. Tonally, live action One Piece will probably be similar to Guardians of the Galaxy. It's got humor, the great crew aspect, dope fights, amazing story and it's done in a way that the mainstream would connect to it. One Piece having a similar tone would be an easy transition from a lot of the feel of the anime and manga. Luffy for example, he can't be 1/1 compared to the one we see in the series because he'd piss people off. He can however be similar to his self in the series and yet be digestible to mainstream audiences. Idk I want no f**s given Luffy and Zoro

I wonder if they will portray Chopper the same way that live-action Sailor Moon show portrayed Luna.

This might be the way I finally get into One Piece because I sure as f*** aren’t going to try and watch almost a 1000 episodes and god knows how many movies and OVAs and stuff.

Speaking as someone who actually did this starting in July 2017 and is now on the final stretch (only a bit more than 100 episodes before I am caught up)... I would not do something like this again for any show ever again.

Read the Manga, it is quicker There ARE 97 chapters or something so I might? 969 Chapters It will take you two weeks to a month to read them if you're consistent but the best thing about reading is the "filler" is minimal so when you hit the action it is a good page turner The earlier chapters, I want to say the first 20 is like 40 pages but from them on it is 18 pages a chapter

One more positive: none of the Japanese anime censorship (i.e. Zoro slicing himself to show how tough he is, the real reason Red Leg Zeff lost his leg etc.).

Yeah I suggest some people to try and get back into One Piece and at least get through the Arlong Arc. If that arc's not what does it then you might wanna stop.

But will this also have like 1800 episodes? Doubt it, the pacing will be better for sure and some characters will be cut out for timing issues and all of that They are going to try to minimize enough to maximize the show. Stuff like the Zoro arc will probably be shorter. You might still get Jango but things like Zoro life as pirate will be told and not shown

I'm pretty green when it comes to anime, so all I was really familiar with were short seasons like One Punch Man. I like that because the content is easy to consume. When my friend suggested One Piece, I was glad to check it out but the episode count intimidated the crap out of me. I never have seen it.

Yea, I can see them taking some pointers from Game of Thrones in terms of reducing the characters and fixing up some things but keeping the core story the same One Piece has a lot of damn story to use so they should be good in that regard

Skypiea is much easier to get through in the manga, and is really appreciated by fans in retrospect. It gives introspection to Haki, void century, “D”, without saying it and actually gives the biggest hint to what the actual One Piece treasure likely is.

If they need actresses, I nominate Melissa McCarthy for Fat Alvida
