Imagine how these anti lockdown lunatics will respond when a vaccine is announced. Oh they’re already running loose. “I don’t get the flu shot, I’ll never get a Covid shot, 5G conspiracy!!!!!!” Look, adults are adults and can take care of themselves but if they are around people that are extremely susceptible to the disease on a regular basis and someone dies because a few of these assholes are playing their “all elites are lizard people” card...well, there’s a special place in hell for them.

None of our rights have been stripped, fortunately. We still have all of the same rights today that we had back in January and that should remain the case going forward. But what's making people anxious are really, really poorly-worded social media postings like this one from the Raleigh, N.C. Police Department: What can't be captured in a 280-character Tweet is that protesting is absolutely essential, vital, and protected via the First Amendment, and that should always remain the case regardless of whether there's a global pandemic. But it's how you protest that determines whether you'll be leaving the protest in handcuffs. For example, when protesters block highways and city streets to object to police brutality, that's an arrestable offense regardless of the First Amendment right to free speech or whether you agree with what they're protesting. The same went for the protest in Raleigh earlier this week. The protest was legal, it was the fact that they were all so close together that drew the ire of government officials, which in turn drew the ire of free speech defenders. If the protest took place but everyone was six feet apart, no one would've batted an eye. I will top this one... People protesting to reopen the economy......one dude has a gun and a mask..so you want things open but you are scared too? Explanation needed.... I'm not even sure "armed protestors" fits here. It's like, 3 people with guns and 2 of them are wearing hoodies. Honestly, the guy wearing the vest and mask might've just been lost because he's way the hell out of place here. Also, not that I'm expecting high-level logic from people assembling in a large group to protest a lockdown preventing large gatherings, but isn't an easier way to end these lockdowns just to, y'know, follow the parameters and stay home? Ending the lockdowns literally isn't going to make this coronavirus go away.

I’m really thankful to live in a state where the Governor is taking this seriously.

I'm honestly tired of the tyranny and the fear-mongering.
Honestly I'm out of here, before the "tiN fOiL hAt" bullies come out in full force.

Ending the lockdowns literally isn't going to make this coronavirus go away. This is what's driving me crazy. Like, I'm not saying it's easy or won't hurt people however long it goes but this seems to be the only way it'll prevent this from getting substantially worse so just stay home for a bit, make sure people have the care they need if they don't have it and wait for things to get reasonably better.

I legitimately don't know if this is going to be a political post or not, so the mods can feel free to chime in. This is going to be a post about a dumb, dumb thing that a politician posted on social media and the likely results of said action.
The shitshow is about to get much, much worse.
Trump just tweeted gun rights enthusiasts to liberate three states controlled by his political rivals. Considering that last month the FBI intercepted one of those types on his way to bomb a hospital loaded with COVID-19 patients (he died in the resultant shootout), these are the last people to thoughtlessly provoke in any way, shape, or form.
Most will probably assume he means for them to get politically active, but there are going to be a non-zero number of those people who take that as a directive to use their guns to affect change, especially the way he phrased those tweets.

I’m really thankful to live in a state where the Governor is taking this seriously. And unfortunately, I live in a state where the governor has no clue what the f*** she's doing. We now have the no. 1 hot spot in the US? Our cases have jumped from 129 on April 1st to 1,411 in 17 days? Eh, let's not do anything at all to help prevent this. Just recommend everyone stay home. They'll listen. NEWS FLASH: No. No they won't.

He’s also completely ignoring the governments own guidelines with this bullshit. The man is bipolar as all hell. One minute he’s saying he’s made friends with these governors from the other party and the next he’s calling for people to liberate their states. C’mon dude.

The Atlantic raised a good question.
Have we really reached a peak in the virus, or have we merely hit the ceiling of our testing capacity?

I remain disappointed in how universally poor the government's response has been to this. First, Trump failed to even try containing it in the beginning when we possibly could've avoided a mass outbreak of cases, then the governors failed to act (and some still do) in actually keeping people home to prevent the spread, and now the argument has turned to trying to re-open things when we still have no tests, no treatments, and no vaccine to support doing so.
Like, I still don't understand why we didn't immediately take aggressive measures to prevent the spread. We knew fairly early on the incubation period was 14 days; why no national lockdown when it was just a few cases? Yeah, the economy would've suffered with nobody working for two weeks, but how is that any worse than what we've got now where people are calling for things to open back up, but still have no damn clue when it's happening?

I’m really wondering with a lack of extensive testing AND the tests being pretty shitty anyway (I’ve heard 30% accuracy on average)
How many people have it or have had it and recovered. Like what’s the real mortality rate. Is it higher? way lower?

Why are people putting Dr. Phil on national TV for advice on COVID-19? He's a psychologist and not even licensed to practice medicine.

Like what’s the real mortality rate. Is it higher? way lower? There is a more accurate test, but the US refuses to use it. I can go into the reason why, but it pisses me off too much to not get triggered talking about it. As far as your questions about numbers, there are almost always people who barely get infected who don't get counted amongst the infected during an infection. The infection rate is definitely much higher, as are the number of deaths. The actual mortality rate, however, is harder to determine. The mortality rate given now is a measure of those who died from among those sick enough to warrant being tested, which is significant enough to discuss on its own merit.

Trump is openly calling on Twitter for states to be "liberated". If that's not a clear incitement to these armed twats protesting virus containment, I don't know what is.
America is in deep shit.
