With how international the crowd is for Mania, if the virus isn't contained by then, I could see it happening. It would be wild, but a lot of events are being postponed or cancelled right now.

It'd be quite frankly irresponsible if both they and the city of Tampa weren't planning for that contingency. The worst things about this virus is how it can spread, as patients don't display visible symptoms until it's been in their system for at least a week. No need to put people at risk for serious complications of the disease at unnecessary risk, as a major event like Wrestlemania gets people of all kinds.
So yeah, good to see them being proactive about this.

I've no idea how these kinds of situations can be even controlled. Especially (myself included) when world is full of hard headed folks who don't go visit a doctor easily. (?)

Hypothetical question, if WrestleMania is cancelled this year, does the next one get it's number (36) or do they skip that number and go straight to 37?

If WWE had to cancel WM, they could probably get away with running empty studio shows instead, down at the performance centre. If it's that bad though, AEW and most other companies are probably shit out of luck unless Khan just buys a gym outright. Uhhh...will this do? If not, I'm sure they could just have another show on International Waters via cruise ship yet again.

I've been conditioned that nothing must ever stop any show ever If it’s out of their hands and it’s recommended by whichever authority is responsible that they don’t hold it, then no amount of “the show must go on” bravado will change that.

The financials of repeatedlt running an empty stadium in early spring are grim to say the least

I wonder, if it's really bad in Florida, they move the show. And award them Mania 38 as a make up for it. What potential cities would be good replacements? I don't think it would likely be cancelled because of a certain area. I think that, if it comes to it, cancelling would be because you have so many people coming in from so many different areas to share a small space with many, many thousands of other people. The idea of going through with it during something so contagious going potentially bad is just patently irresponsible. But that's a long way and several factors down the line. But good for them for being proactive.

Besides, you're making it out like AEW is some small indie company or something. The company may not be as big as WWE but there's serious money behind it.

I'd assume they'd have to decide fairly soon, right? We're about a month out, and I don't think this is a last minute call given how much would be involved.

I think right now, WWE and the City of Tampa (and likely the State of Florida) have to play "wait and see" with this news. It could be an isolated case and nothing to worry about as far as signs of a larger spread of the virus are concerned. However, it takes so long for those with the virus to show visible symptoms that you can't really say that for sure.
Hopefully it IS an isolated case and doesn't spread to the city at large. But we won't likely know anything until next week or the week after. By then, both Tampa and WWE will likely be able to have the ability to make an informed decision.

Hopefully it doesn't come to this but whereas other sports aren't saying it at least WWE are saying it. Heck, WWE wasn't even the first wrestling company to talk bout this. Hadn't NJPW canceled part of their tour already?
