This really sucks for everyone involved. In a normal time, the wrestlers could find jobs elsewhere, but the secretaries & the people in the office may not. But in today's climate, not every wrestler will be hired and there's nowhere for them to go with no other companies running shows. So, they are in the same boat as everyone else. I have already seen people speculating what wrestlers will be losing their jobs online and that's horrible. This isn't a game. These are people's livelihoods at stake.

So, if this is considered hijacking the thread I apologize and this post should be deleted. But I just have to point out that there’s almost no way that the finances of the XFL and WWE were as separate as Vince has tried to let on. The XFL goes bankrupt. Literally the next day the Revival is granted a release they’ve been asking for for months. The bankruptcy filing goes public, reminding everyone that the WWE did, in fact, have equity in the XFL. Huge wave of releases follows. It all feels just a little too convenient for me to not be connected. From Brandon Thurston, who has covered this very closely and was one of the first to point out WWE disclosed their stake in '18: WWE owned a stake in XFL parent Alpha Entertainment, which WWE received at no cost. WWE provided services to Alpha, which Alpha paid for. Bankruptcy documents show Alpha doesn't owe WWE money. It's highly unlikely there are additional "XFL costs" to WWE.

Plus it's all communicating vases, even if all the promotions were open for business.
The same way spots open up for people coming up to fill when wrestlers get hired to WWE, spots go away when people get fired from WWE and they take jobs elsewhere in the business.
That's not altogether bad for the fans, because it means that younger wrestlers can wrestle outside the limelight for a bit longer and get more experience before they're exposed, but for the wrestlers it means less upward movement unless you really stand out.
Plus I have thoughts for some of my friends. For the Isaac Shemins and the Jimmy Tells and the Histerias of the world, those looking at making that next step and crossing the border into the US, this will not be happening in 2020. So they will be either joining GPW with the rest of the Rougeau guys staying busy until Rougeau resumes operations or they'll be coming to MCW (yes please, we can use wrestlers that are under the age of 40, we're all turning into powder here.) but the dream of going to ROH is dead and it's gonna be even deader if some of those released talent are ones that ROH can sign and use.

Eesh, we're gonna need an all purpose release thread once this starts.
Someone who wants to do the work to keep the OP updated (mods will assist I'm sure), get it at the ready. This one is gonna get ugly.

So anyone got a list of who got the 500k raises? because I would bet Gallows and Anderson since they got what 400k a piece to resign and just for that ammount of money are likely getting cut. Gallows and Anderson apparently got $750k each

I didn’t even imply that it was some big revelation that the WWE had equity in the XFL, but I’m sorry, the timing of all this is too bizarre. Vince is way too shrewd a businessman to leave a paper trail, but he just lost an obscene amount of money “personally” and now WWE, which has been the most “business as usual” of any company in the country to this point has completely reversed course over the span of about 72-hours, even after the Florida government bailed them out by hilariously deeming the company essential? Maybe I do have my tinfoil hat in here, but where there’s smoke there’s usually fire.

Man, I bet all those people who are about to lose their livelihood wished WWE had a spare $18 million laying around right now.

NXT UK wrestlers about to experience another Brexit. Wont be surprised if nXt Uk shut down permanently. They can't run show anymore and I dont see the government over there pulling a Florida for WWE anytime soon.

This isn't the way anyone wanted WWE to cut thr roster bloat and probably not the way some wrestlers wanted to get the hell out but... well it's happening and this is gonna be interesting to monitor...
I have no idea how they justify being an essential business with all these big cuts to money and talent coming up, possibly shutting NXT UK down for good? This is just one giant mess.

I think the top UK guys and girls won't be fired, but instead furloughed so they get paid and brought back.
I just can't imagine cutting Dunne, Bate, Seven, Storm, KLR are making that much difference money wise compared to bigger names in the US.

so, to summarize: Point 1: Point 2: These ****** are getting a text message to let them know they've been fired. That's so f***ed up. Yes, texts are how families announce disownment, it all checks out. If only they could go back to the glory days, where their biggest crimes were Santino stealing Jerry-The-King-Lawler's delicious subway sandwich.
