I think people are going to panic when they see this - but here's what I'll say. It's 500 people in an open-air amphitheater that fits 5,500 and I have to believe they'll keep people distanced. At some point, calculated risks need to start happening - I think that's how I'd categorize this move.

It’s truly a race to the bottom in regards to COVID.

If they weren’t in Florida where the virus is still out of control I would feel better about this.

Interesting to note that this comes a day after Orlando announced a similar plan for their MLS team. I am not saying this is a good idea (although it seems like the best possible way to do it if you're going to try it), but I believe this will be a trend going forward for outdoor venues across the country. Hell, some NFL teams are still planning on having fans to some extent.

Hell, some NFL teams are still planning on having fans to some extent. This is the thing about all this. Honestly, I’d rather no fans still attend things if they must have these events go on (which is an entire different discussion and depends on where you are in the world). But it’s sort of come at a point where it’s less “I can’t believe this company is doing this thing” but “Hey, this sport has looked into it/this company has looked into it and are trying it so we should too”. Just...if it was me, I wouldn’t have let Florida get to where it was in the first place before even THINKING about giving any company or league permission to do anything but that really isn’t the world we live in.

The world has to adapt to live with the virus. Can't be on lockdown forever, fans have to be back one way or another, this is a good start

There were 4,555 reported new cases of COVID in Florida yesterday, and 117 deaths.

Yeah, maybe I could see this being a sensible idea in a place where cases aren't still going up on the daily but in Florida? Yeah this is a bad idea. I'd also push back on the idea that fans "have" to be back anytime soon. Why? I understand the company makes money on tickets and that they are hurting without it but they are not in any danger of going out of business as far as I know. What is the harm in waiting until things are at least not a dumpster fire in the state?

Is the $15,000 in ticket revenue (500 tickets at $30 a pop) really worth it? Doesn’t seem smart.

There were 4,555 reported new cases of COVID in Florida yesterday, and 117 deaths. And in any other country in the world, this would likely be a counterpoint to literally everything going on in Florida. The problem is, in most places globally now, it just seems sadly accepted governments aren't going to do enough to do what they need to do to make sure the virus is less prominent and it takes someone like Disney opening its doors to basically lead the way for everyone else to be fine with it with their own guidelines. I say this in a country that was once a leader for this stuff but has quickly fallen apart in putting out guidelines all for the intention of literally hurling children into school by next week. With no guidelines on how to, by the way.

When it comes to the talent, AEW has taken this very seriously to the point of them not having Tony Schiavone appear just because they didn't get his results back in time.
I'm still iffy on them having fans, but I hope should there be an outbreak (God forbid) because of this, Tony Khan would be smart enough to close the set again..

I’m glad that there’s a negative reaction to this.
