Ok, maybe I have been only seeing it from a glance but…this particular case was over a column she wrote about her experiences, right? Not the fact of whether he abused her or not because, and this needs to be said, this was proven in court in the UK case that he did what The Sun reported he did. So, from this perspective, this is super depressing for anyone who accuses a man ever again. I've been following a bunch of lawyers, and the system (and the type of case that was brought) in the UK is different from ours here in the US, so the two cases aren't an apples to apples comparison. All The Sun had to do to win was prove that they, from their position, didn't have a reason to believe it's a lie. It didn't prove he did anything, just as it didn't prove he did not. This was solely about The Sun and its (apparent) belief at the time. Also, a bunch of evidence that was in this case had been disallowed in the UK one. Far more stuff was shown in this trial - and even more still wasn't permissible, but you can find on the internet - that painted a much, much fuller and clearer picture. So, technically, no, it wasn't proven in the UK court that he abused anyone, just as it wasn't proven here. I hope I explained that well enough, not being a legal eagle myself :)

As it should be because she has proven time and time and time again during this entire thing how insane she is.

I totally ignored everything surrounding this abomination thanks to YouTube. The site constantly recommends videos with clearly biased titles when I've never clicked on a single one of it. It's rainbow press through a magnifying glass. All I've seen is a plethora of major media outlets calling me a sexist and misogynist, even though I've watched hours of this trial and know what I saw and what I believe. Men can be victims too.

I think “Johnny Depp cast as Mera” can still happen if we believe hard enough. If Tim Burton was directing.

Followed the whole trial, there is absolute no way Amber isnt the abuser. Textbook abuser, gaslighting, everything

There's really no babyface in this but the public has decided Depp is because... he's so funny the way he slurs his words on the stand or something.

I know you're not trying to by any means (at least I assume you're not), but I find that incredibly insulting as that has nothing to do with why I feel the way I do. I'm a grown adult who can see and hear things and come to a conclusion based on that. Also, he didn't slur his words; he thought before he spoke and took his time. He wasn't inebriated up there.

I don't think taking Depp's side on this inherently makes you sexist or anything, but I am 100% confident that there's probably going to be a huge amount of MRA types taking this whole mess and using it as "proof" that all women are evil harpies and no accusation has ever been true. But that's a whole separate discussion.

I hope both can move on from each other now and sort out whatever individual issues they have. That’s my deepest take on this whole thing.

I watched both the entirety of this trial and the entirety of the rittenhouse trial the latter of which I sat in on with 11 different lawyers from all types of legal backgrounds so they could give all types of perspective and breaking down all the legal mumbo jumbo.
To come to the conclusion that the best parts of being a lawyer are the cross examination because they get to go for the f***ing throat lol.

Wasn't referring to you, more the plethora of gifs I see on IG complete with laughing emoji of him being whacky about whether or not he texted his friends about wanting to rape her burnt corpse. I think she definitely instigated a lot of this and rightfully lost this case, just the black and white painting of the whole thing annoys me, especially when he's got a history and very obvious substance issues.

That's fair. You've been here awhile, I know your style, so I didn't leap to getting Italian on you haha. Your last statement is actually a part of this that's important to me: the distinguishing between "issues with substance abuse" and "issues with physical/mental/sexual abuse". Being someone addicted to substances doesn't automatically mean if someone claims you abused them, that it's true (which I understand you're saying as well). Johnny's imperfect - he said so on the stand, after being totally open with his issues - and I personally hope he gets the help he needs, since he has some things that need tending to. I think he's overall a good person with a lot of inner turmoil, and not the abuser in this relationship.

I've not seen a second of the trial, which is why I don't talk about guilt. I'm purely talking about my experience with YouTube, which tried really, really hard to make me take notice of the case by showing me ugly thumbnails and headlines. Pretty much all men have been victims and will be victims to some extend.

I've been hearing that happening to a lot of people with YouTube and this case. Since I was specifically paying attention to it, it made sense for it to pop up in my feed; I'd imagine, though, that it would be really tiresome to see if you didn't care.

People didnt choose side with Depp because he is funny. There doesnt need to be people trying to downplay the shit that she did.

It’s one thing I don’t like about YouTube is what seems to be a recent thing(maybe it’s not) but these weird video titles with emotive words capitalised and it covers all aspects of life including wrestling. The amount of obviously incorrect claims about wrestlers is amazing but the problem is that it only takes a few people to believe that crap.
