My english teacher in high school had a vhs of an early LeVar Burton movie for whenever she was out. After seeing it half a dozen times I suggested we watch Army of Darkness. The sub didnt care and everyone loved it.
My chemistry teacher was a huge Monty Python fan so he brought The Holy Grail to watch one day. He stopped the video before the french taunter scene to explain that he was saying K Nig Its (Knights) because it was a predominately black school and that word sounded like something else.
We watched some educational movie in 5th grade or so about a post apocalypse world and the last library was the way to save humanity.

We had a substitute teacher in History class who showed us the Buster Douglas/Mike Tyson fight,,in 1996. Not really a movie, but I found that to be extremely odd (to be fair, he made no secret that he was a boxing fan, but why not show a documentary on Ali, at least that would have had some historical value). I have something equally as odd in my 6th grade class, for reasons I still don't understand, my teacher decided she along with all the rest of the class should watch the verdict of the O.J. Simpson case live

When I was in middle school the teacher at my private catholic school played The Outlaw Josey Wales once. I don’t at all remember the context or why, but the movie was awesome.

Man, I am surprised that in some areas that some schools allowed R-rated movies. The schools I went to didn't, unless it was for a class. For example, my school allowed Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan, because it was for world history. I remember my English teacher showed Lord of the Flies (1990) at school for extra credit. I told her that the movie was rated R and she didn't know about it.
Also, at the daycare for after school when I was in elementary school, one of the people who worked there brought Caddyshack to show to the kids there. The first one, I mean. He probably didn't know that the film's rating was R.

Women in Love was pretty strange. Sitting in school watching Oliver Reed and Alan Bates wrestling with their wang dang doodles flopping around was a surreal moment. Especially for a kindergarten class

In my 6th grade history class, we were studying ancient South/Central America and I convinced the teacher to play my VHS copy of THE ROBOT VS. THE AZTEC MUMMY (not the Mystery Science Theater version) because it had some (honestly pretty fake and inauthentic) depictions of the Aztec lifestyle at the beginning. We made it about half an hour in before she shut it off and gave me the tape back.

It was only a few years after Rodney King. Like it or not, it was a historical event. The fact that the world almost literally stopped to watch it shows it was a big deal.

One of the Carry On films, possibly Don't lose your Head. I can't remember which class it was for, but I do know that we were supposed to be learning something from it.

Sociology class senior year we watched The Outsiders on Laserdisc. For some reason the high school owned 3 laserdisc players. And had a child birth laserdisc, one volume of Ray Bradbury Theater and then The Outsiders.
I kinda get why Mr Dean showed us the film. Was more surprised how many people in the class had never seen it before. Hell this was 92 I figuredd that movie had been playing on cable for at least 10 years by then.

Babe the Pig was great viewing.
Lots of "Once Upon A Time" cartoons...

We had a substitute for health class in high school in 2003. We watched the Lion King for some reason. You'll learn the lions way.

My social studies teacher just silently walked into the room and wrote “OJ free” on the whiteboard. It confused a few kids.
