If the stock price drops any lower, I might be tempted to purchase some. It's worth noting that just over a year ago the stock hit a high of $71.93 per share. Today it's worth $12.79. Even through the worst of their troubles the stock generally held at around $30 per share, so it might be worth getting some while it's cheap and wait for the rebound.

Yeah, this has been a thing they do regularly. Well before Discovery got involved. Why they do it when it's not a case of losing the rights? I have no idea.

Peacock, though, is by far the worst about this practice as it basically rotates movies from Universal Studios rather than building up the library that's available like Disney+ does. The same Universal movies constantly get added, removed, and re-added.

They want to create artificial scarcity to drive new subs, because their catalog is so big they want to be able to reduce costs for servers and royalty fees, and apparently there's a huge amount of content (even stuff with name recognition) that no one is watching ev

Something I just thought of (also said this in the WB Discovery thread)....
These antics are going to make Space Jam: A New Legacy age really bad really quick.

The "removing access to content they have the rights to" stinks of how Disney used to do that with their home video releases. But as mentioned, it's a combination of artificial scarcity to increase demand for when the name stuff DOES go back on, and just pragmatically... server space adds up especially when they easily have metrics for what's actually being watched.

play.hbonow.comWhy is the HBO Now streaming site still active? It was only ever available in the United States and has been completely obsolete for the last two years because HBO Max has all the same content plus way more for the exact same price Now costs. HBO Go closed in 2020 a few months after HBO Max's launch, but Now is still here for some reason.

HBO Go closed in 2020 a few months after HBO Max's launch, but Now is still here for some reason. Its probably tied to cable contracts. Also I think keeping "HBO" as a thing is probably a way to get extra content they wouldn't have on Max since the distinction on Max about what's Max and what's there because of HBO is not needed.

HBO Go was the service where you had to have HBO on your cable/satellite plan to access it. HBO Now is direct to consumer. There is no content that's exclusive to HBO Now. HBO Max has 100% of Now's content, plus way more and for the exact same price that Now costs.

Again its probably because HBO has to be a going concern and maybe some contracts still have HBO Now as something that still needs to be up to keep them valid.
