Typhoon winning the tag titles isn't random at all... the Natural Disasters were an awesome tag team.

Why in the middle of the invasion was Albert IC champ? He did nothing of noteworthy during that time period. He was the heavy for X-Factor at that time and I thought him beating Kane for the title was a cool moment. Unfortunately he probably won it at the worst possible time (just as the Invasion was starting up) and dropped it pretty quickly to Lance Storm and preceded to do nothing in the Invasion at all. Why they gave him the IC Title when they had no plans for him I don’t know.

Yokozuna. Just a fat guy who's main event run was only two years and overall time with the company was four years until he got so fat the athletic commissions wouldn't let him wrestle anymore. Minus all the time he was sent away to lose weight only to return bigger each time. Is rarely mentioned today and wouldn't be mentioned at all if he wasn't part of Vince's beloved Samoan family. He main evented several 'Manias, and was one of Undertaker's most important feuds of his earlier years in the company. He could be Rodney Stephens instead of Anoa'i and he'd still be mentioned. He was Hogan's last WWF match for like 8 years, his place in history was solidified.

More than once WWE had people win the tag titles just to further feuds. This is how we end up with tag champs such as John Cena & Shawn Michaels, or John Cena & Batista

Shane Douglas (as Dean Douglas) being Intercontinental Champion for a matter of minutes before losing it to Razor Ramon.

I always thought both of those were odd. I totally dug Abert as IC champ. He was perfectly believable

I think that's a bit harsh. Yoko was immense for a big guy. Could throw a mean urange and back suplex and is one of the most striking looking guys to ever wrestle in the company. Yoko was the first wrestler I ever seen. In fact, one of my first words was "BANZAI!" So maybe I'm biased.

The fact that the title said WWE title and not titles made me think WWE (world) champions and well no one other than Jinder came to mind.
Kofi in 2019 also really didn't click with me. His 2009 run towards the title (before Orton squashed his push) made more sense to me for him to become world champion.

Had the titles for a week presumably just to have a TV title change, give Owen something to whine about leading to his heel turn, and to get some more heat on the Quebequers (which admittedly aren’t bad reasons). And despite their very short reign, they actually have a successful title defense on one of the Coliseum Videos. As a kid, I felt that made them feel like more than just a fluke. So strange that Marty Jannetty does have a WWF Tag Team Title reign, but it isn’t with Shawn or even Leif Cassidy.

Also title of most expensive in No Mercy it comes with the environment of the profession. Godfather be making sure he gets that cash lol But yes Charlie Haas and Rico were an odd thrown together team I found it odd that WWE split WGTT due to moving Benjamin to Raw just to put Haas in other teams with Rico and Hardcore Holly later.

His European title win in 2001 was also very random considering he was still with Farooq at that point.

I liked Haas, thought he was a good worker, but these random tag teams made it painfully obvious that he was the Jannetty of the team. Don't forget he was later teamed up with Viscera on Raw due to their mutual disdain for... Lilian Garcia. 🤦♂️

It was definitely one of the best matches during that first year of Raw. I was so disappointed when they lost them just a week later. I didn't know they had a title defense on Coliseum Video. I need to find that one. Any idea what tape that was on?

Either Bloopers, Bleeps, & Bodyslams or Wrestlefest 1994. 1994 actually has quite a few good Coliseum Tapes.

I thought he was going to get a mercenary gimmick for sure.
