I feel badly for the guy for two reasons-- first, it does sound like he got dicked around with and they changed his movie and that sucks for him. But then second, here's the thing about it, there's no real desire by anyone to see that movie; no cult of fans clamoring for it, any support for it is tangentially related to the Snyder Cult kinda going "..oh yeah, and Ayer too." All that said, just from the way he describes it, it still sounds pretty dire; just in an entirely different way. My response is essentially, "eh, sure, maybe I'd watch it, I guess?", and that's about as committal as most people seem to be about if they'd even bother, so yeah, not likely worth it, even if I doubt he'd need anywhere near the money the Snydercut cost since less shit happened making it.

That is one of those things I never knew I wanted until I learned of it. I'm sure people would not like that as much as they think they would. Batman and Robin is pretty much Schumacher making good on the idea of an 'serious' Bruce Wayne and an campy Batman Story. And people did NOT like that tonal backlash. (I love it, but still) I wish more Batman films were like "...& Robin" these days. "& Robin" really isn't that bad, and was sort of ahead of the game in many respects, given how many superhero movies do follow that kind of serious/campy style clash....some do it better than others, and better than Joel managed

Personally I really don't even find Batman & Robin interestingly bad. Arnold's fun in a semi-ironic kind of way, but the rest of the movie is just a boring slog. I can totally still watch Batman Forever despite its flaws - I last did so just a few months ago - but Batman & Robin is a chore.

There are things I like about B&R, predominantly the production design (terribly plastic-looking "ice" aside) and model work, but there's so much uninteresting shit to wade through. Plus the dialogue and some of the performances dribbling it out is amongst the worst I've ever witnessed in a major Hollywood production.

B&R just on an acting and narrative standpoint, it’s hot garbage. Arnold is clearly having a blast, and he’s technically not “good” in this either, but his energy is kinda infectious. Uma Thurman’s not taking it seriously at all.
Clooney and Chris O’Donnell just look bored. Silverstone tries, but she’s got nothing to work with.
It’s pretty to look at though.

I feel like half the cast was casted properly, but never really told what this was gonna be. Like, I know Clooney could have gone full West here. Arnold and Urma went with the camp appeal hard. Though Arnold also made the whole hyper dramatic backstory for Freeze work better than he had ANY right to.

Just have him play the part as a cold, emotionless machine-man. I know that kind of role is a stretch for him, but I think he could've done it.

I always point out that they have no idea what they wanted is fully shown just by Mr. Freeze. is he: The emotionally cold sympathetic villain from the Cartoon the wacky campy goofball from the 60's show a straight up cold blooded monster that gleefully murders people YES! Sure none of those personalities fit with each other but who cares?!

Some of the cut scenes from Ayer's script have leaked.

I'm impressed how uniformly terrible pretty much every part of those script excerpts is.

If I remember the film correctly, Joker fried Harley Quinn's brain to make her be madly in love with him and pawned her off to get deals done plenty of times.
They basically made Harley Quinn basically a rape victim and sufferer of Stockholm Syndrome.
That is more than enough for me to not want to see what else Ayer has in store.

No thanks, James Gunn already did a superior version of Suicide Squad

It's starting to come across a little sad. At least Snyder had some leverage&the rabid cult
It's 5 years on and the only people championing this are that cult as an ancillary devotion to Snyder as if any crumb of what came before would make WB rethink things.
Also, with the Snyder Justice League there was at least a car crash curiosity factor with those of us that didn't like his run of "well, fine, I'll take a look."
With this Suicide Squad, if you asked 98% of people if they have any interest it's gonna be 'not really'.
And having read those pages, that's really not better than what we got. It's just a different flavor of bad.

Joker ripped like an MMA fighter? I do enjoy it when Joker can physically match Bats, but a jacked and juiced up evil clown just doesn’t feel….right.
