Well, they've reached a new level of stupid. Retweeting Chuck Woolery's crazy old ass and his absurd and insanely idiotic conspiracy theories. It's the same attitude they've had since the beginning: "Everyone's lying, and everyone's out to get Trump. The world revolves around him. If you don't believe him, just ask him."

I have to say as well I’ve been quite impressed with the mask wearing compliance here in Scotland
My wife went to the shop tonight before her shift (I waited in the car with my kids) and I was introducing my kids to Captain Planet on my phone so I was watching people leave and didn’t see a single person come out without a mask on

This store requires a shirt and shoes to enter "Sounds reasonable"
This store requires a facial covering to enter "BURN IT DOWN!!!!"

Ask them for undeniable proof to back up their claims and they’ll resort to personal attacks to deflect. I’ll trust the guy that does this for a living thanks. Science doesn’t know everything off the start. It takes trial and error.

The big issue now in Ireland is people coming into the country from other parts of the world. Many of them, the government says, are Irish coming home to their relatives. Usually, you’d have to quarentine for 14 days and let people know what’s going on during that time but it doesn’t seem like much of that is going on so as a result, there are more cases than ever before. A concern but most of the country itself is following restrictions and people have been wearing masks on public transport with the new law in place so it can be dealt with.
They’re coming up with new rules for people coming in towards the 20th July final stage of easing because, as they say, they can’t close the entire border for various reasons but cases are varying more from about 11-24 a day at this point so something has to be done. They are already setting a list of countries that can come to the country that have managed to contain the virus but, like the mask thing, this really felt like something the government should have had a handle on a LONG time ago

The R rate is now above 1 again, and Johnson did say should that happen changes would be made. That said change would be so ineffectual Is really no surprise; the U.K. will be dragged kicking and screaming back into lockdown because those in charge refuse to accept the reality that their half-baked plans have not worked.

Isn’t it only above 1 in the south west?

My favorite thing so far is the Kim Reaper in Iowa said she won't make masks mandatory, she'll leave it up to local officials. So the city of Muscatine says it will make masks mandatory and Covid Kim is like "YOU CAN'T DO THAT"
It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad. And dangerous. And... typical.

Isn’t it only above 1 in the south west? I read it in passing this afternoon and can't find it to double check, so I should provably amend to "the R rate could be above 1 again." The government's official figures put the national average at 0.7-0.9 and the south west between 0.7-1.1 (and all other areas in the 0.7-1.0 range) but there's a lot of discussion about the released local figures not adding up with the government's overall figures, and given who the government is there's certainly cause for doubt.

I sent an e-mail to our principal and superintendent asking them how we were going to follow CDC guidelines like social distancing, masks, etc. No response whatsoever thus far. I feel like all of the teachers are starting to get really, really anxious, certainly now that we're starting back in 2 weeks.
Our 'teacher reps' (unions are illegal in Georgia) did a survey and today we got a copy of the results. In the entire state, 75% feel like their district's plans are inadequate and they're scared to return to school. When it comes to the 'vibe' of the school, most of these schools in the state are going to be absolute nightmares. There's no doubt that the teachers are going to be on edge and will lose it on the kids over the least little things. If this lasts into flu season, we're in f***ing Battle Royale territory at that point.

I have no objection to this but don't understand why it needs so much lead time. Surely bring it in this weekend. That gives people plenty of time to go out and buy as mask for future use.

Sorry for the tweet imbed spam here, but if you were hoping for some good news in the US today, uh...outside of the northeast Tristate area, there really isn't any.
It's time to start calling this what it is: it's not a "disaster" anymore, it's a full on scandal that this is as bad as it is here, and there need to be arrests, trials, and convictions over it.

That comparison of money given to the WHO versus money given to rebuild Notre Dame especially stings, as $1 billion from the small business loan program went to...the Catholic church.

That comparison of money given to the WHO versus money given to rebuild Notre Dame especially stings, as $1 billion from the small business loan program went to...the Catholic church. The sad thing is that will get missed by the general public since there is so much information coming out with this on a daily basis and the government isn't helping with their onslaught of misinformation. How in the hell can a church get money earmarked for businesses and direct payments to the citizens? I mean, they already don't pay taxes.
