For a kids/family flick it was kinda brutal, even if he was a robot. I'm sure there's some tramatised kids from the 80s there.
Has anything else in kids tv/movie been like a 'murphy in RoboCop'?

Even in the shuttle scene, the Autobots fought back and fell quick and fairly painlessly. Ironhide did go out like a boss though.

Young S-Chrome was shaken to tears when he saw that scene. Not ashamed to say it still gets to me. Damn humans.

What makes it so unsettling is how they start fading out their voices, and there’s the sad music playing. It’s like a total mood whiplash. It’s even worse than Murphy getting shot, because Boddicker has that dark humor throughout it going “nah nah nah nah”. But the bad guy in Short Circuit, this jolly kids movie, is all “smash the damn thing!” and Johnny’s pleading for his life and his robot guts are flying everywhere. Like, damn.

It doesn't help that Johnny 5 had been presented as a very childlike character exploring the world around him like a young kid. Short Circuit 2 essentially has the equivalent of an 8 year old nearly getting beaten to death in broad daylight while he begs and pleads for his life.

It is pretty sad when they only way he can speak after the beating is with a piece of stone that he scrapes on the wall.

That scene was way too intense and shouldn't have been in the movie, IMO.

Yea it was a rough scene to watch when I was young. But it does lead to his badass mohawk and look later. Which then leads to the memorable Bonnie Taylor chase scene as the climax. Then he becomes a citizen, draped in gold and we end on a freeze frame while he jumps in the air somehow

Forget the ass whuppin he took in 2...they made you think he got blown straight to hell in 1. That brought tears to Little Rolent’s eyes back in the day.

Los locos kick your ass. Los locos kick your face. Los locos kick your balls INTO OUTER SPACE! That's probably one of the greatest random 10 second clips in cinema history. Found it:

Prowl was dead before he hit the floor. One shot from a construction to the throat and he was toast. Even Ratchet the medical guy took several shots from Megatron to fall.

That scene was way too intense and shouldn't have been in the movie, IMO. But it wouldn't have made way for the badass climax, especially when he goes after Oscar.

I don't have a gif of it, but let's not forget Ironhide literally grabbing Megatrons leg and begging for mercy before being shot in the face.
