From a purely legal perspective, what could ROH do at this point? Putting morals aside, Marty hasn't been accused of anything illegal and has yet to have a chance for his performance as a booker to have any effect so I can't see that there's any way they could wriggle out of it. Illegal no but they can still kick him to the side if they feel like it Sleeping with a 16 year old when you are in your mid 20's in the U.S. is still creepy as f***. You got wrestlers who got kids that age and no doubt they wouldn't feel comfortable with this dude knowing all it takes is the minimum age to pass requirements for him As said already, he technically hasn't gotten to far started yet so if they want to go a diff direction and take this sunk cost they can

Or would this not apply to a contracted worker?

Jesus christ Ring of Honor's probably got a gun to their head at this point, and Being The Elite might have to edit three quarters of their damn video library, lmfao At least Marty's head is in the right place? But admitting you had sex with a 16 year old, consentual or not, legal or not, is gonna require you to really do a lot more than this post man, that's not a good look for a head booker and one of the focal points of Indy Wrestling. At this rate, Being The Elite is just gonna consist of almost post-AEW episodes.

I think Scurll is an actual employee of ROH and not only an independent contractor.
As for whether he can be fired or not for this, a lot of it depends on state labor laws where ROH is incorporated.

Or would this not apply to a contracted worker? If he's an independent contractor it is a bit of slippery slope but they could go that action. If he's an employee then he's subject to whatever laws all employees in ROH has and whatever state they are in But yes we do have wrongful termination. If he's an employee there is most likely a clause in the contract saying they can dismiss an employee at their discretion when it comes to this type of stuff. They aren't going to fire him just because of an allegation but with him admitting to having sex with a 16 year old, while legal out there it opens up doors here. At the very least the woman is disputing it was consensual and that can be assault which can get him canned

Like, compared to others, his statement was...good isn’t the right word but “adequate” is a better word.
The f*** did he have to mention it was legal? It’s as bad as going “I have mental health problems” or “I was going through a rough patch”. We all do. We don’t have sex with people a decade younger than us as payment for doing a gig.

In probable related news, Hangman Page deleted his Twitter. I'm hoping it's because of that or because of his statement yesterday supporting people coming forward. Because Hangman is one of those guys where if he turns out to be a creep dick I feel like my wrestling fandom just dies on the spot.

Yea, it comes across as justifying you being creepy The fact you adding that qualifier has me thinking this isn't your first time with someone that age and you yourself know it is a bit creepy if you bringing up the legal factor

In probable related news, Hangman Page deleted his Twitter. He's close to Marty, so this coming out about him might have hit him hard, maybe he just deactivated to get off socials for awhile. I am hoping it's nothing serious, but nothing has surfaced and I hope nothing does.

Also, don't forget that Hangman's rivalry/murder of Joey Ryan was a big part of the build to All In, which I'm sure Adam Page has really come to regret in the last few days.

I don't even know why he mentioned it, since it wasn't even the point, he even SAYS IN THE STATEMENT it wasn't the point. I feel like Marty should have had someone proofread that shit... his head is in the right mind in terms off supporting the movement and not wanting people to go after the girl, but that tidbit is literally what everyone is hung up on now and he did it to himself.

Because Hangman is one of those guys where if he turns out to be a creep dick I feel like my wrestling fandom just dies on the spot. It's really not worth speculating about given his history as a teacher, if he was accused of one thing he'd be accused of a hundred more. In all likelihood he's just done with twitter, it's a toxic place at the best of times, and if people you work with are getting accused of being pieces of shit then it'll be amplified to an unfathomable degree. Deleting his twitter is really a logical followup to yesterday's statement. If it happens, it happens, but until it does there's no reason to assume the worst imo

Lol, Marty might as well have saved all that space and written "Yea I did it. Come at me!"
I guess people will disavow any knowledge of him. People will be all,
"hey weren't you a fan of Marty Scurll?"
"Marty Scurll?!.... Sorry, never heard of him." And then walk away all creeped out
