I'm not trying to be a downer, I'm just being realistic when I say this: wrestling is just the tip of the iceberg.
Harvey Weinstein. Bill Cosby. The Olympic Gymnast scandal. I'm not going to break any rules, but politicians have skeletons in the closet that might as well be whole graveyards.
This isn't just a wrestling thing, this is a society thing. I don't ever want anyone to be abused, sexually assaulted, or otherwise mistreated. I also want those accused of a crime to have a day in a court of law, not public opinion.
The bright side of 2020 is that at least a light is being shined on these kinds of things. It may be uncomfortable to go looking in the dark corners, but it's got to be done nonetheless.

No. If the disgusting actions of some in positions of power put me off of an entire industry, I wouldn't be fan of any entertainment. Wrestling is having its #MeToo reckoning like other facets of the media and entertainment industries; just a few years later than everyone else.
But when people mention "rape culture" this is what it means. This is a society thing, not just a wrestling thing. It's an expression of power and control against the most vulnerable, whether it's women or men or children.

Nope change has long been needed in wrestling though. Not say8ng this for anyone here but I feel like people have a hard time comprehending that people that entertain them can be capable of bad things and its a shock. It sucks there are people out there like that but thats in music, business, really anywhere. They have to be brought to justice but it doesn't make me hate their industry

Yes. But it has nothing to do with these allegations, but instead simply because wrestling is pretty dumb. And at least 95% of all wrestling products are and have always been very bad. It's just something about the few good angles a year that keep us hooked. But yea, I'd never admit it to anyone that I like wrestling lol.

You'd be a fan of nothing if you couldn't be a fan of something that had these kinds of people. Movies, music, and sports all have people just like this, it was just a matter of time before the light was put on wrestling.

No, I sometimes question my sanity for still being a fan of a product that I think insults me but this exists in all facets of entertainment and life in general.

31 years a fan, am I disgusted? No because underneath the murkiness there are some genuinely likeable guys working in various companies to get behind.
My heart breaks for every fan and talent, male and female who’ve stepped forward in the past 24-36 hours ago. No one in this day and age should be suffering in silence for so long. The sooner the industry clears out the trash, the better things will be

It's not really our fault some people are scumbags.

Yes, and the talent being scummy in different ways is just part of it. Fans being jerks to each other too, dumb business practices, and things just not being as fun as they were in the '90s and back (some for reasons 1-3, some not as much)
I mean, I don't hold wrestlers in as high regard as role models as other entertainers, but still, it hurts to see the curtains pulled back in this manner.
All I can say after that is Dark Side of the Ring is not running out of material anytime soon.

Frankly, it’s been a long time coming and whilst you wish it was sooner, this is the right time. Everyone’s stuck at home, there are no shows to distract people with so this stuff either comes out all at once now or comes out in drips so it can get ignored as easy as anything else. No doubt, this sucks. It really does. But out of it will, hopefully, come the industry they deserve. Or at least one where this shit won’t be tolerated anymore. There's a podcast I listen to called The Wrestler Review (it's incredibly crude but it's all lampooning) and for years now one of the hosts has been saying that with all the creeps and scumbags in wrestling he can't believe that it never got caught up in the MeToo movement and that the day would have to come when it did. Looks like that day may have come.

Like, for as much as we look at 2020 as something of a year lost, I’d like to think we’d look back at this year as a shift for other reasons as well.

"Why didn't it come out sooner?"
In some respects, stories of this sort were always out there. But there was enough questioning of the accuser's character that the perpetrator walked until much, much later. Wrestling, in some respects, is far more insular than entertainment as a whole and much abuse is brushed off, even by many victims, as "paying one's dues." To speak out was to be cast out of that world for "exposing the business"
John Lydon in 1978 spoke out about Jimmy Saville; but because the Sex Pistols had just broken up and he was already public enemy #1 at the time, few heeded him. He was acknowledged on TV for it only a few years ago, long after Saville died and the BBC scandal broke. Nobody at the Beeb wanted to risk their careers on speaking out: Bill Oddie of the Goodies said as much of what he knew and what the stakes were.
EDIT: It is my fervent hope that what's happening here is a scouring of the business. To have all this come out without any prospect of change in the promotions' operations will potentially throttle the Western revival of women's wrestling in its cradle.

I've been even before this.
The latest news really sealed it though. Have my signed WWE Encyclopedia up for sale.

Also if you like movies, tv shows, sports, pretty much any entertainment out there, you should give that up to, cause it's there also.

Disgusted to be a wrestling fan, no. Disgusted by the actions of several folk within the industry, certainly. The last decade or so has pretty much shown there are people in positions of power over other people all across society who use it to victimise or prey on vulnerable folk. And it's shit. But all we can do is continue to shine a light onto some right dark places and call out the behaviour time and again, be it a Weinstein/Savile or a poster on a wrestling forum.
You can only judge yourself on how you react if you have to deal with these things in your own life. The time I did, with a writer none of you will have heard of, I immediately fired him as soon as it became known and had anything with his involvement in it removed from sale. Said writer wound up going to jail and was pretty much blacklisted across the industry.

I am not disgusted to be a fan. I am just wondering how many more names will come out. Right at 5 years ago myself and some others saw enough proof that we now believe the rumors that have been going around for years about a certain TN legend.

No.
A few people have pointed out that it's not exclusive to wrestling, and I don't think it's even exclusive to entertainment. Even the most workaday environments there are people prepared to exploit and abuse others. If you were to ask anyone who's ever worked in HR or something, you can bet they've at least heard stories similar to some of the allegations made; some people will have seen or experienced it first hand. It's just one of those grim realities of life, always has been, and always will be.
Wrestling (and other entertainment) has probably given a lot of them an opportunity to behave this way, but it's absolutely everywhere in the world and if it wasn't wrestling it would be something else.
