I try to put things into perspective and think what can come from this. Wrestling is still entertainment and there are people in the industry but there is a lot of filthy ones as well. This shit needs to be cleaned up for the sport to thrive and continue

Sadly, wrestling is just getting its turn. Sports, music industry, movie scene etc is just as bad with some nasty people

If anything the reactions to this and support of the victims on this forum at least has been very helpful for me in all this. It's kinda like Benoit; I'm disgusted by the actions of the individuals and think the business needs to improve, but it doesn't make me regret my fandom or anything.

Honestly, yeah. I've felt a disconnect by most incarnations of the current scene for years now and the last couple days have been like "Why even follow this shitshow at all?" Even coming here has been a bummer, between the news and some of the reactions to it.

To be honest, it once again has made me feel pretty unhappy to be a wrestling fan. I know there's genuinely good people out there, and hopefully all this will lead to sweeping changes in the industry where this type of behavior isn't encouraged or forced to be hushed down, but it does make me feel somewhat guilty on my conscience seeing all these people turn out so awful, but not only that, but how people can be quick to defend them not for the sake of neutrality or "hearing both sides", but because they just want to see them wrestle for their entertainment.

I get what you mean, but on the other hand, this stuff is happening in way more avenues and places in the same exact ways so none of this is new or associated with wrestling.

Hell, the movie Baby Driver has another actor accused of sexual assault so we’re almost at the point when the movie is only going to be about 30 minutes and all of that is Jon Hamm.

Shad Gaspard is an example of a hero. Titus O'Neal is one rung short of sainthood. Mayor Kane is an exemplary husband and step-father. Even the Great Khali sent a percentage of his WWE paycheck to his impoverished village in India.

Heck, the worst I can truly say about Triple H is that he played workplace politics better than others. He's a loyal husband and father.

There are a LOT of bad eggs in the industry. What individuals are doing are solely their responsibility, not the industry's.

Too many people these days want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. No one is all good or all terrible. People are both. "This is good" and "this is not good" can apply to the same person and/or thing. We all have to have peace with our choices, but for me it's a false dilemma.

I think I can top most, as I paid money to meet Chris Benoit. (and yet somehow I feel equally guilty of paying the promoter in question as he too is scummy, but not here nor there)

Not a wrestler, but a gym teacher at one of the schools that used to hold NWS shows near me was arrested for making advances at younger students. I think one of the NWS regulars fell under the same fate?

Chris Benoit was my second favourite wrestler. No explanation required what happened there.

Raven was my favourite wrestler. I met him twice in autograph lines. Both times he made unsolicited creepy remarks to women in the line. One of whom was definitely a teenager.

The sins exposed in the last few days arent new. They've always been there. And like many I feel I turned a blind eye (the Pollyanna stuff). Other times it came out of nowhere, publically at least (the Starr stuff was news to me).

This business has always dripped in sleaze. And in many ways that was part of the appeal (look at the popularity of shoot interviews in the day and relevatory podcasts now). But in the shining light its sins are focused.

I will still watch NJPW (though aware there's likely issues there). Abd I will support places like Riptide and Catch that have made there position abundantly clear. WWE and AEW have had no interest to me for a while. Progress can absolutely go f*** itself.

But this business needs a goddamn enema.

I'm more disgusted by some wrestling fans trying to defend the people committing these horrible acts, how much of a vile piece of crap do you have to be to defend rapists and people in the wrestling who are abusive to others? What other fanbase is so willing to just look the other way??

Edit: I realise that all fanbases are like this and they've all got assholes, but I just think that it's hit harder because I'm actually invested in the wrestling community, so i probably notice it more?
