Him wanting $10million in damages just shows that this is just a spiteful power play by him. Combined he would never get that much out of all three of the. He's doing this just to hurt them. See, the tricky thing about suing somebody is that the person suing has to go through a psychological evaluation to determine if there was some damage or not. Having that in mind, the accuser can't just name any random number since it has to be justified by the evaluation. In simple words, I don't think Joey Ryan thought this lawsuit through and is possible that he's going with it to screw his accusers and hopefully get paid on the side.

So I might have missed something during the whole speaking out thing but what exactly did he do to Priscilla Kelley and Penelope Ford? They presumably made anonymous accusations.

Depends, he can certainly find an expert psych witness to testify on his behalf to explain all of the emotional and psychological damage he has suffered, especially so if he has gone to therapy since then. Then those he are accusing will likely have their own experts opine as to the amount of damage. There are also certain presumed damages in defamation cases depending on the content of the words published (and also depending on the specific state’s laws). Apart from the emotional damages sought, if he’s saying he’d lose x amount of income per month for the next x number of years, he’d also have a calculable way to show the economic damages as well, and he’d be able to get an economic expert to give a report and testify as to those calculations as well.

There are some on these forums who insist on defending every single accused wrestler in the name of 'innocent until proven guilty' no matter the circumstances. Why they choose these hills to die on is anyone's guess, but it does seem to be a usual set of suspects that tend to get riled up whenever we dare side with the accusers. Yea, I don't get it No one is saying anything outlandish but the gimmicks on here is getting old

Can people in this forum NOT speculate about legal proceedings? Unless you are a legal professional of some sort, you have no idea what the hell you are talking about Not that it should be a prerequisite to speculating on a message board but there are some on here that are legal professionals.

I mean, aren't many trial decided by one's peers, who aren't legal professionals? People can make educated feasible arguments one way or the other with the information provided.

I would love to see him substantiate that amount of lost income. And if I understand, the onus is on him not only to prove that the allegations are untrue, but that they were made with malice aforethought and with the intention of damaging his career. Good luck man. Even if you win, this is the death blow for your wrestling career, and potential future employers are going to have a blast when they google you. Yeah, he's going to be humiliated in court, same as Vic Mignogna was. Ty Beard is an incompetent attorney, but he also was trying to take on a hugely difficult thing to prove in a court of law, "actual malice" in that the women damaged him with not only false information, but information they knew to be false. I wonder if he thinks he can save face by trying to bully a settlement out of them or something.

That’s not very Christian-like of him. I wonder what Bible verse guided him down this path. The one about King Herod having a man executed so he could sleep with his step daughter?

I'm not a legal professional, but we had to be really familiar with American libel, slander, and defamation laws when I studied journalism and communications. The burden of proof is on Ryan and will need to show actual malice. And that's going to be a hell of a thing to prove. If I was the defendants' lawyers, I'd look into what anti-SLAPP protections they could use in their defense. Because this comes off as a textbook SLAPP, just like Vic Lasagna's suit.

Man, I'm actually really uncomfortable that we now know Priscilla Kelly spoke out as one of the anonymous accusers.
Because there was a time when Joey and Priscilla's acts were tied to the hip, with Priscilla Kelly lampooning the penis druids from ALL IN with the tampon druids at the Joey Ryan's Penis Party show.
And that was a really uncomfortable sentence just now, which gives you an idea of how disgusting Joey Ryan was in retrospect, because the only person who should try any of that is someone who truly understands consent, and Joey Ryan was not that guy, at all.

It's like saying somebody who doesn't make movies shouldn't speculate about them. Or non-atheletes shouldn't speculate about sports.

He's done after this. He might end up like Vic Mignogna where he still gets some work but i can't see any major company wanting anything to do with him again. Wait Vic is still getting work? Last show I saw him do was Kengan Ashura and he was replaced by Bryce Papenbrook in season 2.
