I'd love a show about the USS Yamato, the 'sister ship' to the Enterprise.
I mean, think of the envy of everyone talking about your sister ship and not you. I'd be like Jan and Marcia in space.

I mean I can't officially judge cause... I haven't signed up for CBS All Access for any of the other stuff I'm certainly not going to to check out this (not with that trailer)
but... from all accounts from the people I usually listen to on this stuff the episode that was released is just as bad as the Trailer made it look.

Tried to watch it... it's... it's not good Jim. This is the only Star Trek GIF that comes to mind:

At the moment show's critic score on RT is 62% while the audience one is 35%. I can't see this one hanging around very long.

Discovery goes through a gazillion reineventions per season to try and keep it's audience, if Lower Decks continues it'll be the same thing. Cancelling these shows in this current climate is an admission of failure and Hollywood aren't into that.

I have watched this, not available in the UK so I had to use other means. Er, wow. Talk about disrespect for everything Star Trek was meant to represent. One person on t'internet referred to one character as 'Mocky Spock' and I think that's pretty appropriate.

Cancelling these shows in this current climate is an admission of failure and Hollywood aren't into that. It's much easier to retool a live action program than an animated feature, though. With live action, you can arrange actors, narrative, mood, and CGI in a smaller window of time (though not always on a smaller budget) than animation, which takes months of turnaround to see changes. I don't know what was more detrimental to adult animation in its time period; Family Guy or Rick & Morty?

I also have to imagine Discovery's audience score is tainted by people ironically complaining about the show pushing a "SJW" agenda while claiming that Star Trek never did such a thing.

I think South Park was pretty detrimental in general. but any popular show is going to get imitators that completely fail to understand why something works ... I mean how many gross out cartoons existed off the back of Ren and Stimpy and how many of them does anyone actually remember?

So for anybody who's interested, CBS posted the entire first episode on YouTube -
Eh, I enjoyed it.

This show is trying so hard to be Archer that it's painful.

*looks left and right*
...is it safe now to say this show has been growing on me?
Because it has been growing on me. The last episode in particular had me laughing a good few times.

I like the actual command team and the Orion girl and Cyborg guy are cool.
Mariner is terrible and the writers want us to think of her as some female Rick Sanchez type and just...no, no. Rick and Morty is already dipping in quality we don't need a third rate rip-off.
