This is from Fightful:
"Naomi deserves a chance. They can go to hell with all these hashtags," he said. "I'm tired of hearing about them. Don't nobody 'deserve' a chance. You have to earn a chance and your spot on the roster, this is not some kind of movement just to pull somebody up just because. I hate to say this because I like Naomi, but as far as the business goes, you get it on your merit alone. There is no buddy system. 'Well, such and such has a buddy and that's why they're doing it.' That might be true, but life is not fair. Sometimes, you have to make your own breaks and rise to the occasion when no one else thought you could. It may not happen overnight. No one expected me to become a six-time champ, but my persistence of going out there and performing better than all of those suckas in the locker room, and they knew it, and the fans saw something different.
"That's why I say #NaomiDeservesBetter, I don't think it serves her any purpose, people advocating for her in that way. The way that needs to be put out there is her advocating for herself and performing at a high level. When you do that, you cannot be denied. No one will ever say you were given anything. If it happened tomorrow, someone blessed Naomi with the World Championship, trust me, it would not feel like she did it on her own. I never would have wanted the World Title if it was given to me that way. Naomi is perhaps more athletic than every female in that locker room, but psychology and working are two different things. If I had my hands on her for one month, Naomi would look at this business a totally different way."

Part of what he says sounds like out of touch nonsense. But, the stuff about Naomi being crazy athletic with no psychology is spot on. Still, it's mostly just another old timer claiming that anyone can get a spot with enough hard work, despite pushes in WWE clearly being based on favoritism.

As much as I'm a fan of Booker T...bruh...you won the WCW Title only due to Terry, Russo and Jarrett backstage issues.
Come on now lol.

That Hashtag was the most random thing ever.
Like, Naomi is not that bad or anything but I have absolutely no desire to see her get some mega push.
I'd go as far to say she's probably my least favorite woman on the roster. And that's mainly because I like most of the rest of them.

Agree with Booker, hastags never do anything. Now, let's watch another 30 seconds diva's match or better yet, treat the women's matches as time to get popcorn and go pee.

Always fun when people take a sentiment hyperliterally but then act like a bastion of rationality bringing the 'reality' of a situation to light. Also he just said back to back that there is no buddy system, then that there is a buddy system and that life's not fair. What?

I 1000% agree with him on the “deserved” aspect of it in general. I don’t really subscribe to the idea of “deserving” anything in life, but especially not in a scripted sport. You can’t really earn or deserve something that doesn’t have a specific qualification.
But I do say they absolutely should give her more opportunities based on how over she is with the audience. She’s been consistently popular, so featuring her more on TV is the only logical move.

Like I said I've never felt strongly one way or the other about Naomi, but if she has enough support to get a hashtag about her trending then, yeah, she does deserve more. She obviously has a connection with fans and that's what matters.

All your roster members are interchangeable. You know that hype video that shows Shawn Michaels spinning that transitions to Kurt Angle spinning? That's your roster. You just have bodies to fill roles.
And you just know if the Rock called them up and complained that this second cousin's wife wasn't pushed, she'd start getting a puzh.

Booker T says a lot of stuff. Very little of it makes sense.

This is from Fightful: "I hate to say this because I like Naomi, but as far as the business goes, you get it on your merit alone." Stopped reading here. This is a ludicrous thing to hear from Booker. I would expect it from Nash. Even Hunter or Shawn. I could see how they felt that made sense even though it absolutely does not. Even not going into the touchier reasons why Booker saying this is lunacy, that means that Booker's merit earned him: - Five predominantly meaningless and incredibly short WCW title runs - A shockingly bad TNA run - Getting murdered by Triple H following an angle based in racism - A five year world title drought while people WCW thought were beneath him leapfrogged him to the main event - Numerous Rumble appearances of a couple of minutes or less (2002, 2006, even 2011 which was a surprise comeback) - A Mania match about a shampoo commercial Not to mention that Booker has so much merit that he as WCW champion killed the entire brand in the space of one shitty match with Bagwell (or did half the joh given Smackdown had a WCW match too). How does Booker know so much about wrestling and then also seemingly nothing about anything?

Also, there are literally no fans at the show, if anything a hashtag is one of the few ways fans can let their voices heard.

One on hand I agree with him, but on the other hand Booker comparing it to himself is apples and oranges. Does Naomi deserve better overall? Yeah. But so does like 99% of the locker room. I'd say #Givekairiachance would be more valid since she's just as over, and atheletic, but also understands psychology and getting herself over. I do agree that if Naomi won the title tomorrow it would feel hollow. But if Kairi did it would go over huge. I like Naomi a lot and have a lot of respect for reinventing herself the way she did, but she doesn't set the world on fire. Be it her own shortcomings, the inability of "creative", or both.

Also, I know a lot of this board doesn't like Naomi for some reason but her entrance video from the Rumble got more views than anything else WWE put out that week (or was it month?) and a viral hashtag started over her fans wanting her to get more of a chance. So like...this is probably worth a shot.
