Doesn't necessarily preclude anything, I guess, since Riho beat Nyla to be crowned champion, but it was still Nyla who dethroned her.

Still, yeah, good question. Britt isn't outside of the realm of possibility, I guess, but one would imagine she'd need to resolve her feud with Rosa first if it were her to be crowned.

I guess if they want a face to do it, maybe Kris Statlander once she's ready to go again, but no idea how much time she still has left on her healing.

Shanna would be my next guess, although she's only really a quick Dynamite level defense. Her little bit on Dark with the tiger suplex that can pin someone for longer than three just screams "Chekhov's Gun for title match psychology" to me.

If Riho is indeed back soon, then that is the really, really obvious PPV title defense. Shida has never beaten her, she has credibility as the first champion (who defeated Shida en route to winning the title), Shida has believable doubts to express (after Riho beat their mentor) as to whether she will be able to win.

Whoever wins Britt vs. Rosa will be in a solid position to challenge, and either one of them would be an ideal next champion. It'll have been long enough since Shida's last match with each that it won't be a rehash.

If she doesn't lose to the Rosa/Britt winner, then it probably comes down to whether AEW has managed to sign or push anyone else notable.

...honestly, this is the first time in Shida's reign where she doesn't feel completely lost for something to do.

The winner of Rosa/Baker whenever it does happen should get the shot. She may have wins over both of them but they were both super competitive matches that are worth running back.

Yep, plus Emi Sakura having been teacher to both of them. Furthermore, when Emi challenged Riho, Shida predicted Emi's win, and was shown to be shocked when Riho won. There's definitely stuff they can draw from if such a feud happens.

I'm glad Britt/Rosa has been rescheduled. That match should happen at Revolution. That's a big PPV match.

Shida can defend against Deonna or Riho. Both are big PPV matches.

I'm kinda bummed to be honest.

I was fine with Shida winning, but at least give Abadon SOMETHING in defeat. But nope, just beaten clean.

I'm not saying her mystique is gone or anything, and she has the kind of gimmick that I think can bounce back, but it baffles me how they handle things with the women.

And I believe I'm the only person on this board that absolutely cannot stand Riho, so now I gotta ready myself for that eventual feud.

I guess I was fine with the Abadon Match because Abadon's still green and shes working on her in ring work, but she still looked vicious as hell, like Shida walked away a bloody mess because of her. She'll get better and she'll get more chances. She just needs more reps and time I feel.

Shida at least has a multitude of different challengers on the horizon as opposed to before, Riho coming back, Shanna, whoever wins Rosa/Baker, even the aspect of whoever might win the Deeb/Conti match. At least the options feel open.

I kept waiting on her to sit up and she never moved! Match was good overall but idk, I would’ve been tempted to put the belt on her, let Shida overcome and get it back at Revolution if you want, I just would’ve something else with her and the story. I know that tweet says it’s not over but it kinda feels over.

i'm still expecting britt to be the one to dethrone shida in revenge for the bloody britt match where britt got her nose broken. though with riho in the picture that's a definite possibility but i think they would sooner go with a first time champ to establish someone else than a rehash of riho being champ right away. tay i can see being a filler program until britt/rosa is settled.

Shida has had 6 title defences now after last night. This is the order I'd rate them.

1. Thunder Rosa (All-out)
2. Penelope Ford (Fyter fest)
3. Nyla Rose (Full-Gear)
4. Anna Jay (Dynamite)
5. Abadon
6. Big Swole

If Shida faces Deonna or Riho at Revolution that could potentially easily go right at the top

I think Shida needs to get that Rocky 3 treatment(like how fans wanted Becky to get when she was feuding with Shayna), its probably the only way to make her interesting besides a heel turn.

I was absolutely waiting for this. Sit up and chase Shida and the ref from the ring as Shida was having her hand raised.
