My suggestion would be, if not by OP perhaps by a Mod, can we change the title of this to "AEW Women's Division Discussion" or something of that ilk? It'd just be a less pesismistic tone because at this point we have been both positively talking about things and continuing to talk about where they could improve and general updates about the division in this thread.
In turn, it's becoming an all general purposes thread instead of "They NEED to do better", and I just think that kind of title would be better to reflect it, if anyone else agrees anyway!

I mean we still do that with how Conti/Deeb got an appreciation thread tonight and Abadon one last week. I was just thinking we talk about the girls a lot here, maybe with how they've been doing things we make it a more even OP Title Idk if we have to let it fade, but this is why I wanted to feel the pulse on the room yknow? It's still a very active thread.

AEW's got the third best women's division in the larger promotions right now IMO. They've made slow, but steady improvements and while they won't top NXT's anytime soon, I think they can get to being on par with Impact sometime this year. I think they've surpassed Raw and Smackdown's but that's more due to how bad their women's divisions have become (especially Raw's. Good lord.) vs. AEW's own improvements.

They could do with featuring the women more throughout the show, giving them some main events, etc.

Again I really believe Serena should dethrone Shida to become a double champ, since Britt will be busy with Rosa until next month.

Unless she was able to leave before it, since Japan went into lockdown wouldn't it be a few months until Riho can come to the states?

Half the Women in the Raw division can't even do a headlock properly. I'd go NXT AEW Impact/SD - knockouts division gets overrated a lot I feel. I'd take AEWs division all day long Raw - Distant 5th

I think AEW's talent is ahead of Impact and on par with RAW/Smackdown as a whole (although the top workers of RAW/Smackdown are hard to beat) but Impact is ahead in terms of how much they're featured. So it all depends on how you measure it.

Maybe moreso on how much they’re used and featured but I still think Asuka and Charlotte on Raw (along with a returning Becky at some point) are ahead of anyone on Dynamite talent-wise.

I think if you put Shida, Riho, Deeb, and Rosa up against Becky, Charlotte, and Asuka's of the world they hold their own pretty well. I think AEW's Women's Division Midcard is also filling out well with the likes of Baker who is getting close workrate wise to the others above, Leyla, Velvet, La Sicaria's, Swole, Shanna, Nyla, Leva, Conti, Jay etc., and the young talent coming through their training system like King, Dani Jordyn, Tesha Price, and more definitely giveme confidence the women's division is trending in the right direction. In terms of showcasing certain wrestlers yes the main roster has done that better but they've also had years to build up the girls to that point. AEW's slowly been building their girls up, look at how much Conti alone progressed in just a few months... they keep at it, I think their women's division is gonna be great, no matter where they're ranked on lists.

Raw and Smackdown are quantity over quality for me. Yes, they usually get more segments per show than AEW does, but it's the same old shit it's always been: Four Horsewomen at the expense of everyone else.
I've been disappointed with Shida's reign as AEW Women's Champion, but at least she actually defends her title. The booking of Asuka's Raw Women's Championship reign make Shida's look like the best thing ever.

Shida has already faced Kana (Asuka) several times in Japan and more than held her own against her, and that was before Shida even reaches her prime. I think she's every bit as good as Asuka and better than Charlotte and Becky. I just think there way more depth in the AEW division. Outside Asuka, Becky, Charlotte and maybe Shayna there's not much there at all. AEW just has a far more deep roster - Shida, Riho, Yuka, Deeb, Baker, Nyla, Rosa, Penelope, Statlander, Ivelisse, Diamante, Shanna, Anna and Tay. Every one of those names are better than the vast majority of the Raw women outside the 4 I mentioned earlier

I'll withhold full judgement until I see her in the ring. I am sure she'll be kinda green but if she belongs, then she belongs.

Jade is a weird, weird case right now, and we're left in suspense as to what the deal is until we see her in the ring. She's been kept under wraps in training for like a year, as far as I can tell, and presumably they are pretty confident that they've done a good job getting her ready if they're throwing her out there like that. (Might also be because her friendship with Shaq was such a good marketing gimmick that they wanted her to be ready for primetime when she debuted in order to take advantage of that.)
It's encouraging that the last wrestler that they decided was ready, without much exposure or experience before hand, was Anna Jay. If Cargill is in fact as good as Anna Jay, then she'll do alright. Hell, if she's just a decent power wrestler who can bring her size to bear, she'll do fine.
But they've also made the unwise choice of familiarizing the audience to her via promos, when she is not delivering promos beyond her experience level. That's where I'd call it questionable booking.

The booking of Asuka's Raw Women's Championship reign make Shida's look like the best thing ever. Asuka’s been in 10 Raw women’s title matches since she won the title in April. Shida has been in 5 since May. Also, Bayley and Sasha were on fire in 2020 and the best thing on any wrestling show. Not seeing that as any type of quantity over quality.

Obviously your username is holyshida I expect you to think differently. Shida, Deeb, Rosa I can give you as being better than the rest of Raw’s division after Becky, Charlotte, Asuka, Shayna. Definitely not the rest, though. Raw also has some good talent they’re not currently using much like Mia Yim, Naomi, Mickie James, Nikki Cross. Alexa not really being used in matches lately either. Then they have Peyton, Lacey and Mandy that they are seemingly building up.
