How is that not a Midas touch? Rock endorses hosts who fit what they’re going for with this new XFL, fans care as a result because Rock thinks they work. If sports fans agree with that, great. But it wouldn’t be the main aim. Because the fans knew Rock wasn’t endorsing him. WWE was using him to endorse Roman and fans saw through that right away. It’s a completely different scenario. Wait, let me get this straight. Comparing The Rock's involvement in the XFL's weekly games to his heavy involvement (and subsequent success) in a movie is the same. But comparing him professionally endorsing a family member who I'm sure he also personally approves of to him endorsing announcers professionally who he probably doesn't even know is a completely different scenario? Yes. Because most of the stuff I mentioned was carefully planned to improve his image and potentially make him more money. Most of the stuff was done with his production company through his agent and carefully planned. Rock appeared at the Royal Rumble as a favour to Vince and you can tell that because it wasn’t done to improve his image or his status because it wouldn’t have backfired as bad as it did. Compare that to the result of the fallout with him and Diesal. Hobbs and Shaw was a big success, still a part of the F&F franchise, got his cousin a SAG card and he doesn’t have to work with Diesal anymore. Win/win/win. Hey, I don’t doubt you aren’t right and it isn’t as hot as it could be or whatever but I don’t think it’s that much of a stretch considering his past with this stuff. All I know is that, like Rock’s other stuff, it’ll be carefully planned and gives the potential to not burn out his image but give it the best chance of grabbing the biggest audience possible.

No, I mean Rock has endorsed Roman outside of RR. And it didn't cause an uptick in metrics, people were seemingly no more or less invested in a tangible way. I think what it boils down to is you think that it's important to be strategic and delegate and have this "it" factor transfer through osmosis. But how does his natural charisma and star power on-screen fit in with an entire sports league? It's this giant operation and hours and hours and hours and hours of content and he's the busiest man on the planet with 85 irons in the fire and no real avenue to get him into a broadcast naturally, on-screen, for real substantial time. Is he gonna play? No. Is he gonna announce? Probably not. And the further you dilute what his involvement on-air is gonna be, the less people are interested.

Give him a chance guys! We gave Vince two, Rock deserves at least one.
Rock has succeeded in an avenue other than wrestling and has done so for almost 20 years. Vince McMahon has never succeeded in anything but wrestling so already Rock is one step ahead of the previous XFL owner. XFL was nothing more than a vanity project for Vince to prove to the entertainment and non-wrestling sports world that he could do it. Covid or not, I do believe it would have failed again. This is not a vanity project for Rock, I'm sure there are much better reasons for him wanting to do it which I'm sure will come out.
I'm sure the players will want to work for Rock more than Vince and I'm sure the coaches and other employees will enjoy working for him much better. The previous owner is a guy who thinks sneezing is a sign of weakness and enjoys embarrassing loyal employees just because. Yeah, I think the Rock will succeed on this one. Mentally he's an adult which is something the previous owner has never been.

The Rock will make this a success. Him and DDP are probably the two smartest businessmen to come out of wrestling. Actually, the smart thing Rock did was hire his ex-wife as his business manager.

Yeah I have no clue how rocky managed to get out of his relationship, but then also hire his ex without NO fuss. Man's won life for real

I would love Rock to cater the XFL for fans alienated by the NFL's treatment of Kapnernick.

The biggest problem with the XFL wasn't Vince it was the play on the field. Unless The Rock can get quality players I don't see how much difference he can make.

XFL was drawing decent crowds in most markets though. I think that the Rock will make them a viable watch during the off-season of the NFL.
