WWE acquiring the ROH library would be pointless because some of WWE's former stars left (Punk, Danielson, Adam Cole, Cody), All In featured plenty of current AEW names, the PPV represented a change within the wrestling industry, and it led to AEW's formation.
Plus, WWE's not looking to hire more indy wrestlers after the management changes with NXT.
Not that I'd put it past WWE to act petty again, but it would be spiteful even for them.

WWE, AEW, and Impact all have 2-hour weekly shows on Cable. That does make Impact number 3. I'm not going to get into this too deeply again, but if we're talking reach, accessibility and viewership, ROH was #2 as of the summer of 2015 and only #3 because of AEW. The syndication numbers for ROH are significant, and their reach on broadcast networks is much more than AXS or Vice. Impact does a great show that I've especially enjoyed over the past year, but there's no real metric beyond one's personal preference where they have been bigger than ROH since 2015. I respectfully disagree. My personal metric is that the show be 2 hours (3 for WWE) each week on Cable, and the star power. For the last 2 years Impact has had bigger names in their roster than ROH.

What are the syndication numbers for ROH?

Honestly the number of former ROH guys that the WWE really spotlights nowadays is surprisingly small compared to what it was a few years ago - Samoa Joe - status with the WWE iffy after latest injury. Damian Priest - honestly, I'd imagine the WWE would rather people forget his ROH run. Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong and Tommaso Ciampa - seem to have developed into kinda player-coaches for developmental with no real plans on ever elevating them out of NXT, why spend the money for their benefit? Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn - both seem mentally checked out of the WWE and will probably be gone when their current deals expire. Cesaro and the Viking Raiders- way too down the pecking order right now for the WWE to care about showcasing their early work. AJ Styles - some good stuff there but the TNA library seems like it would be more significant for him. In the end the WWE needs to ask themselves is it worth spending the money just to get some old Seth Rollins matches? Because those are the only things I can see them getting any use out of.

With Honor Club already integrated on Fite. I was thinking they could take a NWA Powerrr set up with bi monthly tapings and have weekly new episodes released on there with access to the back catalog for a small monthly price. Then a couple big live ppvs. That’s if they are able to get away from Sinclair. Because if the library is on sale it wouldn’t surprise me if they would just sell the whole company if a buyer was interested.

As far as the footage: Golden Ending - AEW gets it and incorporates it into an eventual streaming service Unfortunate Ending - WWE acquires the footage and presents it in edited form inconsistently Russo Swerve Ending - Impact inexplicably ends up with it and airs the TNA/ROH Variety Show every week on Impact Plus Dark Horse Ending - Someone else or another entity buys the rights with the intent to buy ROH and keep the promotion alive like Billy Corgan or Anthem.

I’ve always put Impact at three and ROH at four. Just because Impact was bigger at their highest point. Toys, video games, Hogan. Though Depending on the year and the time frame it’s always been back-and-forth with them and ROH. Though you can’t undersell all those foreign deals that have kept Impact alive all these years.

It would make sense for them to get the library

Before AEW launched, ROH was IMO the de facto number 2 domestic promotion. But Impact's had a really nice resurgence the past couple of years, especially with them working with AEW and reestablishing a relationship with NJPW. And that coincided with ROH having one of its worst years in terms of overall interest and show attendance. They were having a nice bounceback but then the pandemic hit.

WWE getting their hands on that catalogue would be such a depressing end to ROH. The thought of the company that spearheaded everything that was an antithesis to Vince McMahon falling into his hands is nauseating.

I’m not sure I understand this take. I keep hearing this. WWE is somehow petty for wanting to own the library. How so? They’ve had these conversations previously. They own many libraries. They literally have a subsidiary called WWE Libraries. They’re slow uploading shit but they’re putting it up nonetheless. I just don’t get how it’s petty to acquire a library of great wrestling feature a ton of current and former WWE stars. So then AEW. If they buy it, is THAT petty? They don’t own any other tape libraries. I’d argue AEW going into a bidding war and trying to win the library is petty. Right? They buy it and set up a streaming service so it’s AEW and uh, ROH. And that’s it? Wow, some streaming service! Anyway, sorry, gang. I don’t see how WWE trying to buy it is petty but AEW buying it somehow isn’t and is instead some kinda super cool masterstroke business decision. If anyone wants to enlighten me that would be great.

TK could make an offer which would benefit them if they want to start a streaming service.

Really hoping WWE gets it. Having a lot of that stuff on peacock would be fun. I honestly really hope they don't. I really don't want WWE owning even more of wrestlings history and trademarks... Eh who cares. If Disney can own half the movie studios in the world and people cheer for that. Why not. One app to open.

I just feel like sharing this again, this is from a few days before everything went to hell. I really do think ROH had one of the best products this year. Just look at these upcoming shows. This doesn’t even include Dalton Castle vs. Dragon Lee for the tv title that’s happening later next month. So while I’m depressed as hell ROH will never be the same. I’m going to enjoy these next two months while it lasts. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOBasS7KPrs&t=964sCrazy to see GCW Footage in ROH Week by Week. Awesome set of shows coming on ROH TV. This weekend "VLNCE vs. Pure" Jay Lethal vs. Homicide King & Dickenson vs. Williams & Grisham Deppen vs. Rhett Weekend of 30/31: "Special Halloween Episode" Trios Championship: Shane Taylor Promotions (c) vs. Danhausen, PCO, and STEVE Wild Card Trick or Treat Tag Team Four Corners Survival: All the teams drawn at random from a Jack o' Lantern! Rok-C & Quinn Mckay vs. Alize & Max the Impaler In November: "Championship Edition" ROH World Championship: Bandido (c) vs. Alex Zayne Pure Title: Josh Woods (c) vs. LSG This doesn't include the other woman's triple threat: Allysin Kay vs. Mandy Leon vs. Trish Adora Where the winner will face Willow for who fights Rok-C at Final Battle. I'm thinking these two matches will probably happen on Women's Division Wednesday.

My big concern with the WWE buying the ROH tape library is that the bulk of it probably wouldn't be available for a good long time. Like I said in my previous post, the only true blue ROH alum they really spotlight anymore is Seth Rollins. They might throw up some of his ROH stuff and maybe make some AJ Styles matches available, but the rest either will never see the light of day or unceremoniously drizzle onto the Network and be forgotten about in the same section they keep the Smoky Mountain stuff and non-MSG house shows. Although you're right, with AEW having neither a home video market or any kind of dedicated streaming service, I really don't know what they could do with the library either.

I said it in the NJPW thread, but I want to say it here, too.
Can we bring RUSH and Dragon Lee into NJPW Strong now so that they have a chance of interacting with LIJ members at some point (if say, Hiromu, Sanada, or BUSHI ever come over for a set of tapings)?
