I said it in the NJPW thread, but I want to say it here, too. Can we bring RUSH and Dragon Lee into NJPW Strong now so that they have a chance of interacting with LIJ members at some point (if say, Hiromu, Sanada, or BUSHI ever come over for a set of tapings)? I'd like to see them come to AEW with Andrade... but also then they can go to New Japan WITH Andrade and really get shit poppin off with LIJ.

I'm not against them joining Andrade, I just figured there's a better chance of LIJ members showing up on Strong than on Dynamite, at the moment. Also, I don't get to watch Dynamite (no cable), but I DO get to watch Strong.

Huh, y'know, I hadn't thought about: I'm kind of shocked Dragon Lee hasn't done any NJPW Strong shows yet. Brody King's under ROH contract yet has appeared pretty regularly on Strong, you'd figure Lee would be able to do so as well given his history with NJPW, so yeah, kind of odd. Have to think he'll be back with New Japan in some capacity, especially once restrictions are eased in Japan.

So they are basically a PWG now. Ahhh... so they'll be working strictly on the Code of Honor: a nightly handshake deal!

WWE acquiring the ROH library would be pointless because some of WWE's former stars left (Punk, Danielson, Adam Cole, Cody), All In featured plenty of current AEW names, the PPV represented a change within the wrestling industry, and it led to AEW's formation. Plus, WWE's not looking to hire more indy wrestlers after the management changes with NXT. Not that I'd put it past WWE to act petty again, but it would be spiteful even for them. Content and control. They still need to sell the network outside of the US and need to provide new content to keep people paying, new Punk and Bryan content will help with that, as they aren't getting much more of that any time soon otherwise. On top of that, controlling the bulk of the footage of people's careers gives them a lot of leverage in future negotiations. Play ball, or we'll rewrite history to make you look like a minor player or spoiled child.

Honestly, I really don't see wwe making a bid. They lately have been on a cost cutting spree. Letting a bunch of talent go, and moving the network over to Peacock. When you factor in the Fox and Saudi deals, wwe seems more interested in having people invest in them, than the other way around. It wouldn't surprise me if nick khan advises Vince not to buy Roh. Especially since it would put them into a very expensive bidding war.

Especially since it would put them into a very expensive bidding war. They wouldn't buy it as an active company, but buying the library is very much an investment with twenty years of content that can be used to pad out the network, which they do still need new content for, even with the peacock deal. ROH's library has more value to the WWE fanbase than that of WCCW or any of the others they've bought over the past two decades. Even if there's a bidding war, it'll still work out cheaper buying the ROH library than producing that much fresh content themselves or licensing it, and there'll be a tonne of stuff they can recycle to fill out career documentaries and the like.

The Mat Men Podcast talked about this and while they did say that the Sinclair financial situation was thr main reason for this. The sense they got was that Sinclair started to lose a lot of interest in ROH after the fan response to the MSG show

The ideal situation is that another Tony Khan-like figure (really rich wrestling fan who isn't a money mark) comes along and buys ROH outright from Sinclair. Then they can effectively resurrect the company as an independent entity free from Sinclair's bullshit.

Then they can effectively resurrect the company as an independent entity free from Sinclair's bullshit. It is a very LU like situation. People talk about contract issues with LU without ever understanding the real issues but have hoped for the better part of 3yrs now that with no more El Rey , Univision that MGM would back up the brinks truck once more especially now under amazon to ressurect it. ROH fans are in a very similar boat...being done with Sinclair and just wanting a big supportive entity to buy it from them to keep it alive even if it may be on a smaller scale. LU fans are getting a bit of a reprive with azteca underground so we will see if anything similar follows ROH.

I suggest we just try to buy Dalton Castle instead. He could do odd jobs around the forum, like make faces and suplex anyone getting out of line. We could change our name to "Boy's & Girl's Club, but mostly Boy's" or "Peacock, but Better" network.

The joke I keep playing in my head is all of this happened because Dalton Castle was "busy."

Well that's me convinced. The first quarter is also the amount that Sinclair is going to put into ROHs budget.

Maybe they should have let Kenny Omega add the ROH belt to the collection after all
