I say it like this. 1-12 is good 2-10 is great (S10 has its stinkers but there's also some great episodes) 3-8 is god tier 1-12 is the “mostly watchable” pile 13-19 is the “still okay” pile 20-31 is the “meh” pile 3-9 is the “GOAT” pile

There is others that aren’t as good, but that’s the one that started the turn towards bad.

The rest before that (even, yes, them revealing that Skinner is an imposter is okay) is not terrible. There's some great moments and lines. Like, how hard is it for them to find out that the real Skinner is a fake, that identity theft can happen or something. Instead of the shit that is, "Eh, the real Skinner is a flake. Let's get the fake one back and never speak of this again!" (Although the callback when Lisa deals with Snowball V in a future episode is great)

Or Sheldon Skinner as seen in flashback looks, acts and speaks exactly like Seymour. It was a bad episode.

My fav episode is when Homer is in New York City. He's angry the entire episode. I've only saw it first run and a couple times after before 911. Is it still run on tv or the Disney Channel? Curious cuz of the Twin Towers in it.

I'm going to prob get the Disney Channel on my Roku now 🤠 I think the only episode totally stricken from syndication and Disney+ is the Michael Jackson episode. I'm into season 5 now at Deep Space Homer. Not shocking, but basically every episode is great right now. One gag they do a lot that you'd think would get tired fast is this one But they manage to add a little bit of business or an extra punchline that just makes it funny every time.

My favorite Simpson's gag I didn't get as a kid was the absurdity of young Homer as a one man band doing "Tighten Up" by Archie Bell & The Drells.

This scene officially warped my brain into the person I am today. I never laughed so hard at how this played out. The first time I really understood it's humor.

So I have a bit of a Mandella Effect going with the Simpsons, specifically the episode I just watched, The Boy Who Knew Too Much. It's the one where Bart skips school and crashes Mayor Quimby's nephew's birthday party. While Homer is sequestered in the hotel, he watches a hilarious riff on Free Willy. Now we don't actually see the whale crush the little boy, but I have such a vivid memory of seeing the whale actually on the rocks. Does anyone else have that memory or am I totally alone?

Might be remembering when they basically redid the joke for a Hallowe’en episode where the dolphin tale hits Lisa in the face. That kind of joke you’re thinking of is more Family Guy than Simpsons.

My memory for sure is from before that episode. Like, I had that memory before I ever saw that joke. I honestly might just be remembering a dreamI had or something along those lines.

So at the end of the episode where Homer is falsely accused of sexual harassment, the show Rock Bottom flashes a bunch of corrections and I had to pause to read them and they are hilarious. I strongly encourage you to do the same. The 2 that stood out to me were "If you are reading this you have no life" and "The people who are writing this have no life." It just shows the layers of comedy for this show. the main gag is funny because they make their corrections, but just flash them by the screen so we can barely see. That by itself is funny, but to then add actual funny jokes that you only get if you pause, this was WAY before seasons were released on home video. The only way to get this one is by recording the episode yourself. Legit when the Simpsons is great, it's a genius level great!

I have Seasons 4-10 at home in my DVD book. I keep meaning to deep dive back in, but it's not a good sign when you consider sitting down on the floor and going thru disc sleeves and putting them in the machine as the most arduous part of your day. But there we are: an unfortunate consequence of being out of shape and not doing much about it for years. I think 22-23 is the low point. I really enjoyed seasons 24-28. Thought 29 was down. Enjoyed last season and 32 so far. Character voices are getting rough though I catch it here and there and knew Julie Kavner's voice had been suffering for awhile but caught the season premiere a few weeks back and Yeardley Smith is starting to go as well. That's rough to hear because that's literally Yeardley's real voice. At least Julie Kavner's putting on a voice. This......dang, not good to hear that kind of news...

The Disney+ version is uncut and leaves in the Twin Towers scenes, as well as a line said during said scene (“they stick all the jerks in Tower One”).
