Even TNA game improved in the graphic designs for their game after they released their first game trailer so AEW should be fine tbh Yeah, and regardless of what you thought about the game at the time or now, those models actually still look really good compared to even modern games.

I don't mind the cartoony graphics. My favorite wrestling games are the Fire Pro and AKI series, both of which are heavily stylized, plus the pseudo-Street-Fighter aesthetic seems a good fit for AEW. How it plays and how good the CPU logic is, those will be the biggest factors in whether or not I buy it. For me, it’ll be how good the CAW is.

I'd say my biggest hopes for it at this point, beyond it playing decently, are having a good CAW mode (preferably without any limitations on how many characters you can make, completely stupid still limiting shit like that these days) and something akin to either Universe or Here Comes the Pain's story mode.

I always had a soft spot for that game. If they just gave it another year of development to add some more moves, creation options, etc. it could have been fantastic. The base was there.

I wonder how much of the WWE 2K CAW system is from Yukes and how much of it was 2K...

Yeah, Cody is a massive Zelda fan and I've seen some of the pains he's gone to for the sake of playing retro games on modern hardware on social media. I don't know if he's as big into modern gaming or would conduct an interview with the producer of the Final Fantasy series (in Japanese!) like Kenny would, but he's really into gaming as a whole.
yeah I mean Cody's boots in the WWE had the triforce on them. He also calls his vertebreaker Din’s Fire

Considering the cartoony style & how much they're revering Nintendo-exclusive games, it'd be mighty dumb if this didn't come to Switch. & yet I'm somehow doubting it.

The Jobs Squad I get it, but the guy died almost 10 years ago. Is this really a cool or timely reference to make? I see this and just roll my eyes.

I'll peep it but that whole "hey No Mercy guyz" thing they keep pushing doesn't fill me with much hope. Yeah it's my favorite wrestling game of all time but the thing is that they can't keep the same No Mercy stuff like the past. They have to evolve the format into today's era. The reason? No Mercy isn't as fun as it was back in the day. They gotta really look at the foundation of the game (impact, camera shots, variety of modes, character uniqueness) and then bring it up to today's era. If they do that, the game might be great.
I'm sure they'll be more fun than the WWE games of today, I'm just not sure if they'll make them as fun as they need to be.

The graphics look like if Battlegrounds didn't look like Source Film Maker porn so I dig it. Also the fact that there's AKI boys working on this is wild.

This is gonna be how Hangman loses all his money drunk one night. So Hangman going to slowly turn into DSP? Nah, if he whacked off on camera, people would actually want to tune in for that.

This post brought me a level of awareness about Battlegrounds's art style that I am going to forever loathe you for. Can't wait for Christmas when my brother tries to get me to play a match with him and I run screaming from his apartment.

The game came out 20 years ago and it's not like the director has done a whole lot since. I'm not all that excited either. I want to see actual game play and see how it looks and feels first.

I enjoyed the press conference and thought it was funny. They didn't have much footage or actual details to share, so this was the best way to make an event out of it.
I'll withhold judgment on the console game until we find out more. I haven't really played any since the first couple of Smackdown games.
The mobile GM game could be tons of fun, as long as it's not bogged down with microtransactions. I'd rather pay an upfront fee than deal with that nonsense.

Yeah exactly. No slander to No Mercy, it was great for it's time but that was 20 years ago. A lot of games from that era just don't play well in today's era (Mario 64, Goldeneye) so they gotta evolve the format. If they take the blueprints and say "alright, let's turn it up x10 and make it more modern" then I'm sure it'll be good. It's just a matter of if it'll be modern, like a real modern game or if it'll just be "No Mercy with AEW characters and better graphics." If it's the latter nah, I might be outty lol.
