I finally caught up on the 2.Games talk. I was amused that they had a cart of No Mercy front and center with the "WWF" logo taped over.

Interesting stuff. Hearing his rationale for not wanting to go too far into arcade or simulation territory was interesting. I think using Fire Pro as the "simulation" example instead of WWE2k spoke well to me in particular, especially as Fire Pro is so highly regarded. People love Fire Pro games, but it's so overwhelming to learn all the game's systems that I never got into the series at all. It's about impossible for a new player to pick up and play the game and have any idea what they're doing. Yet, arcade games lean too much in the opposite direction where there isn't that much depth to the system and all the wrestlers feel like they're the same.

I really hope they can achieve that balance between approaches and give us a spiritual successor to the AKI WWF and Def Jam games in feel. Something like Day of Reckoning or the earlier Smackdown or SvR2006 would be great, too.
