Watching all these wrestling writers who don't regularly report on video game news is like "don't quit your day job guys."

Fightful Select has learned some details behind the upcoming AEW Fight Forever video game.

In relation to the mini-games, we're told that was an All Elite Wrestling idea, and something that they'd insisted on. We're told that there were people involved who had pushed the idea of community creations on the game early on, but that All Elite Wrestling wasn't as interested, and Yuke's was happy to pass on it as it was AEW's budget they were working with. We're told that eventually, AEW had decided they wanted a community creations-style aspect, but by then, Yuke's felt they would need to remove other features to make that a reality. We aren't sure where things stand on that now.

There were heavy resources put into the story mode of the game, and numerous talent came in to do voiceover work for it. We're told that John Silver, Orange Cassidy. MJF himself actually wrote a promo for the game. We're told at one point there were story materials that were set to be prepared for The Bunny, Ricky Starks and Keith Lee, but there was some backtracking on that. We don't know where things stand with those talent now.

Some names that we had confirmed that aren't a part of the first build of the game: Evil Uno, Jake Hager, Private Party, The Acclaimed, Santana and Ortiz, in addition to FTR. However, we were told that the working plan is now for FTR to be added as DLC. However, they were originally planned for the first build of the game. Stu Grayson had not been planned before he left either.

We've heard to expect Kenny Omega to be at Tokyo Game Show where the AEW game will be shown off.

Mini games over Community Creations is not a good choice. CC is huge in wrestling games, leaving that out is a big mistake.

Yeah, I can't see this game's replay value lasting long for most people without CC.

Yeah, CC has carried the WWE games since it debuted.

No community creations is short-sighted and foolish. They must just wanna make people salivate for DLC.

Maybe it's because the last wrestling video games I actually bought before Fire Pro World (which has one, but I haven't really played that game too much) was WWE 12, but the lack of a Community Creations thing is like, a minor inconvenience at worst if the game is fun to play.

And if this game does go with the live service model, they can always include it in a patch or update.

Hell, you can just enable Steam Workshop on the PC version and let Valve handle the needed infrastructure for you.

If something like that is such a make-or-break feature for a game, maybe it isn't a good game to begin with. Granted, I had some real fun playing 2k19 with my friends, but that was f***ing around over at their place with beer being involved. We weren't exactly trying to have 5 star classics.

If FTR ended up being okay with the reason, I'm sure Uno is as well. There has to be a DLC road map that they've shared with talent. If all these tag teams aren't in, I would like to think a tag team pack is in the works, along with a Ring of Honor pack.

How can you not have The Acclaimed in this game? Well there goes the chance at hearing Max Caster rap about his in game opponents and Anthony Bowens saying "Scissor Me Daddy Ass" or saying "The Acclaimed have arrived"

Keeping an eye on if Ace Steel runs interference by biting Kenny.

I like that the entrance chyrons have little factoids and I assume in-game recordkeeping. That's a nice little touch. Hoping the ones for Hangman Adam Page are humorous like they were in 2019-2021.

A few rough things that I’m sure will make the final release got me feeling a bit “ehhhh”, but overall looks promising.
