Also. I don’t know. But the marketing gimmick of “bringing back the days of pick up and play wrestling games” is weird to me because, to me. I can’t think of a single wrestling game except maybe All Stars that’s really pick up and play.

No mercy is complicated! but you can't officially say "hey remember all these nintendo(trademark) games like wcw/nwo revenge(trademark) and wwf no mercy(trademark), this is that." when you talk to people about wrestling games, the most people have responded to me was with the n64 classics. |

Not sure if i'm a fan of the cover. Just a bit too clutered. Too many people on it. Should have gone for something like the Shut Your Mouth cover.
Game looks like fun though. Can't wait to play it.

I rarely buy physical games anyway so covers don't really matter but I thought the old one was better. Still not good but the green at least made it look like some kind of design work went into it, the new one just being on the stock background just makes it look like a bunch of PNGs arranged as placeholders for putting together something more dynamic.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Factory were added later as apart of maybe an "Elevation" pack. Tag Team DLC will be happening for sure with Private Party, Inner Circle, and FTR.

In a world where games are increasingly mostly sold as digital downloads, cover art becomes even more meaningless. Like on the PS4, a lot of the times the box art doesn't even match the title square you press X on to start a game.

I feel like it's gotten a lot worse the last few years as WWE2k and Fire Pro became really the only choices for wrestling games. And as WWE2k transitioned from the more arcadey Smackdown games to a heavy sim starting with... probably around SvR08? and then really diving off that end when 2k got the license, it became really dense and arcane to get into. WWE2k19 was the first WWE game I had played since WWE 12 and it took me a long time just to like, learn how to play a basic match. It was all so complicated. I eventually got to a point where I had fun with the game, but it took me awhile to get there. Fire Pro has also always had this issue that made it hard for me to get into even if it has some great AI as far as trying to have something that looks like a legit wrestling match goes.
The WCW and WWF AKI games (as well as their spiritual successors like Day of Reckoning and the first couple of Def Jam games) weren't simplistic, but they had that "easy to learn, hard to master" style of gameplay to them. They just felt a lot more intuitive to get into even if it was just scratching the surface of the gameplay depth of the games.

Mox has his "through the crowd" entrance, which is pretty cool.
Interesting enough, he has his old AEW music and not Wild Thing in the clip. Wonder if this is just for the teaser or if they couldn't use the license for Wild Thing in games for whatever reason.

To be honest, I prefer the "Unscripted Violence" theme due to his entrance video going better with that song. "Wild Thing" only being used for big matches would make more sense. |
