Came out in Japan on December 14th, 2000.
I've been wondering about revisiting Gen 2 for awhile now, but have been split between whether to do it via Crystal or HGSS, kind of each has its perks over the other one. Crystal holds a weird place for me - I have a lot of nostalgia for it and certainly remember loving it, but it was also the last game before I kind of fell out of Pokemon until Diamond & Pearl. Not really sure why.

I actually got the 3DS version a while ago so along with this Blue game I have to finish, I should probably see how that holds up.

Not really sure why. If you going back to play 2nd gen, just play Crystal. Obviously if you want to play Gold or Silver then go for the other version Heartgold or Soulsilver I want to say the last Pokemon game I remember playing and buying before I got my switch was Ruby. After that I did not play another Pokemon game until the last one Hopefully, Nintendo stop playing games and port all the old ones to the Switch one day

I’ve still never played Diamond/Pearl or Black/White, and I actually own Black 2

I heard good things about Black/White 1 so I def want to play them one day I had Yellow, Blue and Red for the original GB and beat them on the color multiple times. Will never go back to play Gen One again tho at least in that form

Played Blue a couple years ago when it got re-released on the 3DS, it still holds up fairly well. Still think Gold/Silver is the best of the series, I couldn’t even tell you how much time I put into that game. Almost filled my Pokédex before the goddamn neighbour kid saved over my game, I specifically told him not to f***ing save! Lesson learned, don’t let your 7 year old sisters friends touch your video games

My favorite team I ever used in Crystal:
Typhlosion Electabuzz (got Elekid from the bonus egg at the Daycare) Poliwrath Victreebel Noctowl Jynx (after breeding the original and hatching a Smoochum, so I could get Psychic early)
