I tend to work nights in addition to days and A LOT. Like 100 hours a week or more is pretty common. Today I have the whole day off though So when I got home last night at just past 11 PM I slept wonderfully I have to wake up at 8 AM tomorrow so might try to fall asleep at 10 PM to get another great night

The best sleep I ever got was like 6 or 7 years ago. I worked overnights and took a night off (called in) on a weekend my wife and son went away, because either I had a bug or got food poisoning. I got sick at like 6 pm, downed some water, put an Opie and Anthony playlist on my phone, and slept until like 8 pm the next night, barring bathroom breaks and rehydrating, and felt like a million bucks.

This is one of those questions like "what's the best dump you've ever taken?"
Like... I know there's been some good ones, but there's never been a time where I've finished up and been like "YEEEEAAAHHHHHHH, I can't wait to do that again!"

Recently would be last night.
At 9pm I figured I would take a short nap, then get up and clean the house. Slept from 930pm until 5am. Woke up long enough to use the bathroom and drink some water. Then back to bed and slept till 11am today.
All time....
Night after BCT graduation. I had almost 4 weeks off before I shipped to my AIT base. I slept from 8pm the night before until I think it was 2pm before I finally got up. But I had just went thru close to 9 weeks of getting up at 5am 7 days a week. Add in my insomnia and I might get 3 hours of sleep each night.

Just a couple of days ago. So, first off, due to my medical condition where my body pretty much aches from arthritis and stuff, I don't really get much sleep - part of it is due to the habit of staying up late and not getting much sleep on the first place.
Took a nap a few days ago, woke up to a horrible migraine. Head just throbbed. Front and back, eyes and inside the ears. Bad enough that I decided to lie down in bed after dinner, several hours early from my usual sleep time. I was planning on watching some stuff on my phone for a bit, but it was cold and raining, and I found myself dozing off even before I gotten hold of my phone. Plus my head was still just pumping out waves of pain so mentally I was done being conscious and just wanted to close my eyes anyway.
Got up to go to the bathroom a few times, but every time I went back to bed I quickly dozed off even with my back and hips being a bit disagreeable. This went on until like 12 noon. Longest time I was asleep for I don't know how long at this point. And the migraine was gone by like 4AM when I woke up again. It was still raining then, too. Not counting the times I had to go to the bathroom plus getting a cold glass of water, that was the longest sleep I had for years.

Also, for a more minor example for me, being in a car and not being the one driving, then feeling sleepy and having the small luxury of dozing off and actually falling asleep. Beats watching things on the phone, really.

We went on vacation over Thanksgiving and stayed in a rental house. The bedroom my wife and I took was a garage that had been converted into a bedroom. That means it was on the cold side ( which I prefer) and had a king size bed with a firm but soft mattress and a heavy blanket and down comforter. Cold room + soft bed + heavy blankets = a great night’s sleep.

So about ten years ago I made the decision to work the overnight shift for my job, usually working from about midnight to 8AM every day. I was miserable and never properly adapted, usually lucky to get four hours of sleep a "night". Finally after about eight months of this I was able to get back on the afternoon shift, which I preferred. My last night on the overnight I got home from work at around 10AM, visited the family, had a big celebratory lunch, and did everything I could to keep my eyes open until 9PM when I finally collapsed. I slept straight through the night to morning, not waking up until 10AM (for my new shift which started around 2PM). I didn't sleep that night, I hibernated.

I'm 41. The best sleep I've ever had was in 9th grade. I came home from school, put my Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers CD on and laid on my bed to begin reading a book for homework. I dozed off. My mother came in sometime and asked if I was hungry. Told her no. Went back to sleep.
Woke up at 5pm the next day.
So...outside of a very small few moments, I slept for 24 hours.
Found out 2 days later that I had mono. But damn, was that sleep fantastic.

I feel I need to split it up between drug induced and natural.
When I was 19, I had my wisdom teeth removed and they gave me percocet as a pain killer afterwards. I know I wasn't asleep for the entire time, but I had the surgery on Monday morning, and next thing I knew it was Wednesday night.
Naturally, about three years ago, when my company was in the midst of acquiring a firm in Toronto, I had to go up there and get a lot of prework done for their network cutover (essentially reiping their entire network, working with their outsourced network provider, etc.). I started my day on Friday at 8:30 am, I ended my day at 5:30 pm Saturday. I grabbed a sandwich on my way back to the hotel, scarfed that down, guzzled a beer, turned on the TV, and next thing I knew it was 10:30 am Sunday.

Mine was a for a few days after finishing my first year at university. It hadn’t been the party I was expecting (that came later), and so the comfort, relief and familiarity of my own bed meant that I had a 12 hour sleep for three consecutive days.
Glorious.

What is this "sleep" you speak of? Can I buy it at the store? Is it expensive?

I have insomnia. There are times when it's a lot worse than usual, and those nights I can't sleep at all. Under normal circumstances, I'm either waking up 4-5 times over night, or I'm waking up waaaay too early and can't go back to sleep. Before I started taking melatonin pills for it, I honestly couldn't tell you when I last had a full night's sleep.

My step-grandfather literally built his house in rural Minnesota with his own hands in the 50s. He and my step-grandmother lived in that home until he passed away in 2009 and she in 2013.
I stayed in that home when I flew into town for her funeral. The basement guest room got the absolute pitchest-of-blacks. The night of her funeral, after an already challenging several weeks, was the single best I ever slept.

I worked like 20 hours straight on a school assignment one night in college. When I got back home after handing it in, I crashed into a long sleep. Some times the key to great sleep is after deprivation

Years ago I spent a winter operating a plow truck. One storm I started at 3:30 am on a Friday and didn't get home until 7 pm on Saturday.
Zombie walked up stairs, stripped into a pair of gym shorts and was out cold in minutes.
Woke up at 9:30 or so, what a great night sleep.

Last week of October after a week of doubles I went home after 8 hours, went to bed at 9 and slept until 7 the next morning. It was also in the middle of a covid scare in my office so not only working doubles but not sleeping from anxiety really messed me up.

Last week. The Fall semester ended and I slept soundly knowing I passed my courses after a week of terrible sleep due to my natural anxiety compounded by the anxiety of whether I passed or not.

A few days ago.
I woke up 3 or 4 times, but each time it felt like id been asleep for hours and kept expecting it to be nearly time to wake up when I glanced at clock.
Felt like a longer sleep than usual.
