She's the women's equivalent of The Big Show in how often her alignment shifts between face and heel. Though she's so much better as a heel than a babyface.

Yeah for sure. Totally comes across as unlikeable when she speaks. But we're right back where we usually are when it comes to her. Like I can't argue that she shouldn't be at top of the division, BUT I'm already sick of her and want her to go away. It's easy... book her in shit that is not a title match. Give her angles on literally anything else. It's the same problem Alexa had where they wanted to use her but all they ever did was stick her in title matches... they eventually stopped pushing Alexa in title matches but still gave her things to do and she's still pretty much as over as she's ever been. Have Charlotte work with the undercard... team her with an NXT call up that can get the rub by being associated with her... hell pair her with Andrade and do a mixed match challenge type story... having Charlotte always involved with the title is why she feels like 1000 years old in television age.

It doesn't really help that Charlotte's most consistent character trait is having no consistency whatsoever.

It never works for her. The worst runs of her career have all been as a babyface.

I would assume this is all leading to Flair/Asuka at WM, meaning she will turn heel again soon.

She's got the same deal Trips has where she comes off as a completely insincere and inauthentic babyface.
For all the talent she has, her booking has almost always been such complete dogshit. I honestly believe she might be most talented woman they've ever had on the roster, and yet I'm never going bother to defend her against her detractors, because largely they're right, and WWE has done everything to set her up to fail in that regard. They basically booked her to ruin the first all women's Mania main event, you can't look past that sort of shit.

Seriously. It's stupid enough when they have her as a heel who management just hands title shots for no reason considering that it's Ashley Fleihr I'm annoyed at for that, not her character. As a FACE just showing up and getting title shots for no reason? Go actually the hell away WWE. That character does not have any redeeming qualities. This is the second time this happens right? I cant remember if she had just returned from something when she got the NXT title shot but I dont think so. Either way it is pretty bad even as a heel to have title shot handed as soon as you return. I think the big question is: Who will be the heel in the inevitable Charlotte/Asuka feud? If audiences aren't back by then, I would absolutely not rule out WWE trying to force Asuka into the heel role, since they can control the crowd reactions. But if audiences are back and they try that stunt, it will massively backfire, just like every other time they've tried to turn Charlotte face against someone the audience is more organically behind. Whoever turns,Asuka loses No, she won the Rumble for the chance to kill Rhea dead for most of this year. (like she needed that for any reason oher than to have it on her stats list) Her coming back (ironically, from the first time she bust her implants) and busting into Becky's title shot was the first time. It was also so bullshit that WWE couldn't pay people to have as big a face pop as when Becky beat the shit out of her for it.

I hope Flair can find that one angle or character tweak someday where it all clicks into place, like it did for Reigns this year. She’s too talented just to simply be someone put on a pedestal for everyone to hate so viscerally like this.

How hard would it be to just crib from Miz and Maryse in having them constantly being annoying as shit while managing each other?

I'm a Charlotte fan like I've said many times before, but other than during the feud with Becky a couple years ago when Becky kept whooping that ass, her character has never faced any real adversity IMO. That's the one thing that's always bugged me about her booking.

The interesting thing is that they told a coherent story to explain why she got the title shot on the 7-31-18 SDL (the episode opens with a Becky/Carmella segment, Charlotte returns to save Becky from a beatdown, Carmella gets mad about it backstage and mocks then-SDL GM Paige, and Paige then makes Carmella/Charlotte for that night's main event to get the title shot), but it basically got ignored due to perceptions about her booking, plus people feeling like Becky was more deserving after the MITB ending and the winning streak they booked for her while Charlotte was out.
The thing about her implants is that she worked three months after they ruptured in March 2018 (they were also apparently poisoning her, according to interviews) and then didn't get the best kind of surgery because she was needed back on TV so fast. That SDL episode I mentioned was literally the day she was cleared to compete again. Part of why she was out so long this year is that she finally got better surgery after they'd ruptured again, so you could read it all as proof of her work ethic, but due to the perceptions it just got spun as 'female Roman, overpushed' etc:

That's the one thing that's always bugged me about her booking. It’s like I said, she’s almost six feet tall and has a strong build, she’s bigger than every other woman on the roster except Raquel and Nia and even then it’s negligible. Hard for her to really face much adversity when none of the women and only even some of the men could credibly overwhelm her physically.

If people hated Charlotte before tonight, then woof I cannot imagine the vitriol that is coming on Friday. Be warned, this is a spoiler for Smackdown that is currently being taped. {Spoiler}{Smackdown Spoiler} Asuka/Charlotte defeated Sasha/Bayley and Bayley/Carmella in a triple threat elimination match to retain the tag titles. Charlotte pinned Bianca to win the match.

They basically booked her to ruin the first all women's Mania main event, you can't look past that sort of shit. That was so depressing. Becky/Ronda was money and they never capitalised on it. The reaction to their face-off the night after the Rumble last year showed they had the first truly anticipated Mania main event in at least half a decade and they screwed it all up. It would be like adding Kurt Angle to Austin/Rock at X7. Loved Angle and he’s a great wrestler but he’s not a star on the level of the other two and it would just muddy the waters. The big money if you look at history is always in 1 on 1 matches. As if the live crowd reactions weren’t enough, during the few weeks before they made the triple threat official they even had the cheek to put up a poll on their own website asking whether fans wanted Becky/Ronda, Charlotte/Ronda or a triple threat. No exaggeration it was about 95% for Becky/Ronda and the other two shared the rest. They knew what people wanted and didn’t give them it.

She might be the most effective heel on the roster given I change the channel whenever she comes on

Honestly, they should have never introduced Charlotte, Sasha, and Becky all at once.

It didnt get ignored, the story was trash and Becky had a months of winning streak where Charlotte got a chance because she is Charlotte, winning one match doesnt change anything of her being handled it.

At the same time, the actual Becky/Ronda closing sequence at Mania being so shambolic hints at why the match needed Charlotte to keep it on the rails even if it was (and is) clearly an unpopular decision.

No it didnt,Ronda had good matches with Alexa and Nia. They didnt need to have Charlotte, they need to be booked well and played to Ronda strenghts Cool, you added Charlotte, did it make it a good match? No, does anyone say "man that wa sa great match"?No,everyone just remembers it was a mediocre match with an equally mediocre story. You could guarantee great story if you didnt add charlotte.Instead of bringing up the match she just solidified it had no redeeming qualities
